Rice farmers in Fumbisi in the Builsa South District of the Upper East Region has pleaded to government to come to their aide ahead of their harvest season. Mr. Francis Akisiba a Rice farmer at Fumbisi told Apexnewsgh.com that things would have been more easier for them as farmers, if most of the essential tool for rice farming cultivation which is known as Combine Harvester and Pickup is affordable to the farmers.
According to Mr. Akisiba, the combine harvester alone cost over Ghc 1.8 Million Cedis which actually so high for the ordinary farmer to afford.
“we need it at this time for farmer to harvest their rice”. He said
However, admonished government to always come to their when necessary but not necessarily when the notice they can take advantage of their incapability.
He sited an example with the recent flood situation witnessed in the Upper East Region few weeks ago, stressing that government should have come to purchase rice from them to donate to the victims than going round instead purchasing rice from other places.
However, he pleaded with the well-meaning Ghanaians to take the issues raised by rice farmers very important.
