I cried when Obuor lost NPP primaries – Okyeame Kwame

Music icon Okyeame Kwame says he broke down into tears when his colleague Obuor lost his parliamentary primaries in the New Patriotic Party contest in June. According to him, Obuor would have been a good representative for his people in parliament because he is selfless. “I cried when Obuor lost his primaries. He is the most selfless human being I know and I know he would have been an amazing MP for the people. I have confidence he will succeed in future,”  the Faithful hitmaker told Bola Ray on Starr Chat Wednesday. He also revealed going into politics has crossed his mind in recent times. “Going into politics has crossed my mind 50% of the time. My wife says I don’t have the heart for politics but I don’t think I should have the heart before I get into it”. Obour, who was bidding to represent the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Asante Akyem South constituency in the Ashanti Region, lost in the primary held on Saturday, June 20. He polled 296 votes while incumbent Member of Parliament, Kwaku Asante Boateng polled 360. Obour revealed his intentions to run for Parliament last year and had taken steps towards that by initiating a number of development projects in the Asante Akyem constituency. His bid was not without controversy as a number of musicians including D Black and Criss Waddle asked delegates not to vote for him because he was inefficient and corrupt while NPP executives in the constituency were divided. UER: Film Makers Association disappointed over President Akuffo Addo’s snub.

“Disgusted” and “disappointed” were just a couple of the words thrown around by an entertainment industry in the Upper East Region describing the action of President Akuffo Addo and the team during his tour of the Upper East Region. The Upper East Regional Film Makers Association was amazed and bemused after they were allegedly snubbed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo after an arrangement was reached and concluded to meet him. The President was said to have been bluntly prevented from addressing them in the presence of other members alleging that the government was not interested in what they were exhibiting. This took place at the forecourt of the Regional office of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC URA Radio) in Bolgatanga. The President on Thursday had a radio interview at GBC URA Radio before he could proceed to meet the Regional House of Chiefs. The group took that opportunity to meet the President at the GBC yard after the radio interview. However, their dreams of a good meeting with the President was shut. When the President came out from the studios, he waved at them, walked towards them but returned to his vehicle and left. “We came here to meet the President. We had an arrangement with the Party executives including the Chairman and the Regional Minister. We started this preparation three weeks back only to be treated this way today. In fact, we are disgusted and disappointed at the moment. The President just walked away without a minute to spare and listen to what we have for him.” Aminu Inusah lamented. The National founder of Film Makers for Nana, Richard Boateng expressed worry over what he described as a “jiggling and murmuring” moment for members in the industry as they walked home unhappy. He further expressed worry over the fact that “ the Upper East Regional members of the Film Makers Association invited me, booked a hotel for me, hired this stage mounted and spent money for event organizers to make this place beautiful only for us to be ignored.” Mr. Boateng wept. But speaking to the Regional Communications Director of NPP, Mr. Sanusi Issah said the initial arrangement was to meet the group at St. John’s Park in Bolgatanga. He added that the arrangement they made at the GBC yard was somewhat an ambush according to their itinerary thus the President’s inability to address them. Apexnewsgh.com/Ghana/Peter Agengre. Naming A Street After Me Is Like Winning Grammy — Wiyaala

Noella Wiyaala has spoken about a street named after her recently in her hometown Funsi in the Upper West Region. According to her, she considers the great honour bestowed on her as the greatest award she has ever received. “This award, for me, is my Grammy. I know every artiste around the world would love to win a Grammy but this is the biggest Grammy for me because this is coming from my own people. Those days, it was difficult and nobody believed in arts and entertainment and for them to accept the music I am doing and name a street after me; it’s my Grammy,” she said. In an interview with NEWS-ONE at Funsi, Wiyaala said the love and support she receives from her community motivated her to go back to Funsi where she comes from to give back to the community. “Any time I pass by the street and I see my name I am reminded of what I am doing and the impact it has on my community and people who look up to me, especially the younger ones. So for this gesture it takes a lot and it means you might have done something that stands out and for my people to go honour me with a street I am humbled,” she added. The ‘Lioness of Africa’, as she is affectionately called, appealed to her colleague artistes to go back their roots and support the future leaders of their communities. “This is your home, you shouldn’t feel ashamed to go and support these young ones and your people because home will always be home and if you don’t help develop the place, no one will do it for you,” Wiyaala said. The artiste is currently directing a movie in Sissala, which will be used to preach about peace and living in harmony in the Upper West Region. She has also formed a dance club which is aimed at educating younger girls in the Funsi community about teenage pregnancy, early child marriage, among others. Some of the girls who spoke with NEWS-ONE said they feel inspired by Wiyaala and thanked her for inspiring and building confidence in them. —NewsOne

I STARTED SMOKING AT AGE 6, WEE IS MY FOOD AND EVERYTHING – KING AYISOBA

Ghanaian traditional musician, Albert Apoozore, well known as King Ayisoba, has revealed that he started smoking marijuana at a very tender age. He told ZionFelix in an interview on the ‘Uncut’ Show that he began smoking marijuana otherwise known as ‘wee’ at the age of six (6). The ‘I Want To See My Father’ composer averred he has a taste for weed and he has not encountered any problem since he started using it. He believes his blood is compatible with wee-and it has been a constant substance that he uses. However, King Ayisoba disclosed that alcohol is not his favourite as marijuana. He explained that he only takes drinks with a small percentage of alcohol but weed, on the other hand, is his everything. The popular traditional musician argued wee does not make people suffer mental challenges. He, however, advised people to stop consuming it if it is not compatible with their blood. He disputed that alcohol, most especially; ‘akpeteshie’ – a local alcoholic drink – has negative health implications more than wee.
