The Gambaga Youth Association known as GAMYA has called on the good people of the North East Region within and outside the Constituency to embrace peace as they go through the December 7, elections. Speaking to Mr. Abdul Rahman President of the Gambaga Youth Association who was anxious about ensuring a peaceful and violence-free election in and around the Constituency. According to him, elections always come with some level of disturbances which normally distort the existing peace the people enjoy especially with the youth. He says GAMYA as an association wants to make sure the Youth who the politicians mainly used to perpetuate confusion and troubles are well educated ahead of December 7 elections “…if you look at what is happening now, it’s all about the election, and elections come with its turbulence, turbulence in a form of acrimony. But then, GAMYA stands for peace and coexistence.” “…we just want to let the youth understand that it’s about Jaw-Jaw and not War-War. UER: Political Parties in UER signed peaceful accord for 2020 election
Leaders of the various Political parties and their supporters in the Upper East Region on Saturday signed peace accord to ensure that they maintain peace in the upcoming December 7 polls scheduled to take place on Monday 7, 2020. The leaders of the various political parties including the New Patriotic Party (NPP), National Democratic Congress Party, People’s National Convention Party (PNC) the signed the accord after they had embarked upon route match through the Bolgatanga Municipality with placards to draw the attention of the public to join the crusade against violence in the forthcoming general election. The event which was organized by the Youth Harvester Foundation Ghana (YHFG) , an NGO and funded by the European Union(EU) through the West Africa Network for Peace Building also brought together the National Peace Council, the National Commission for Civic Education and the National Youth Authority. Addressing the stakeholders at the forum which was under the theme’’, Ensuring Violence Free-Elections in Bolgatanga: The Role of Young People’’ at the Bolgtanga Catholic Social Centre, the Executive Director of YHFG, Ms. Priscilla Nyaaba explained that the peace accord activity was under the project’ Election Violence Monitoring, Analysis and Mitigation Project, a Youth Action For Peace Programme being executed by her outfit, sponsored by the EU. The Executive Director told the youth that they were the foundation of national development and should not allow themselves to be used by selfish politicians to cause violence in the election. The representative of West Africa Network for Peace Building, Mr. Noble Alsagskomah, stated Ghana had chalked a lot of successes in the arena of organizing peaceful election and nothing should be done to mar the forthcoming elections. Signing the Peace accord, the Youth Organizer of the NDC, Mr. Isaack Asore, said the party was committed to peace in the impending election and but called on the security agencies to be impartial in discharging their duties on the election day. Cynthia Aduko at the Regional NPP office on her part intimated that the party had sensitized all the party supporters on the need to stay away from violence in the coming election. Funny Face finally meets Lil Win and Kwaku Manu after baby mama misunderstanding
Ghanaian actors Funny Face, Lil Win and Kwaku Manu have finally met once again following their misunderstanding on national TV and involvement in some private issues. The trio was seen hanging out at the peace walk organized by Abass Sariki in line with the upcoming December 7, 2020 general election. The peace walk saw many top celebs and industry players in attendance as the likes of PM Reigns of Di Asa fame, Pamela Odame Watara, Ayisha Modi and a host of other stars were spotted there. Asamoah Gyan should come down to the local level – Yahaya Mohammed
Ghana striker Yahaya Mohammed believes international colleague Asamoah Gyan must change his ways to succeed in the Ghana Premier League (GPL). Seventeen years after leaving Liberty Professionals for Italian Serie A side Udinese, the forward has made a return to his homeland by putting pen to paper on a one-year deal with Legon Cities. Akufo-Addo is not corrupt, let’s do clean politics – Allotey Jacobs
Ex-Central Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Bernard Allotey Jacobs has brushed aside the notion that President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is corrupt. With few days left for all the political parties to bring campaign activities to an end, the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), have adopted strategies they believe when relied upon, could be used in nailing their opponents down ahead of Monday’s polls. For instance, an alleged bribery video involving Nana Akufo-Addo was released earlier this week. The video which shows the President receiving money went viral on the internet, with the NDC capitalizing on it to campaign against the NPP. The NDC accused President Akufo-Addo of taking a $40,000 bribe from the wife of the Director of Urban Roads to keep him in office but the NPP in a counter-press conference cleared that he [Nana Addo] was receiving a donation towards the party’s #AriseForChange campaign in 2016. Mustapha Hamid, the NPP’s Deputy Campaign Manager who spoke at the presser affirmed that the video was another attempt by the NDC to clamp them down. He said the video was doctored to suit their corruption tag for Mr Akufo-Addo. However, Mr Allotey Jacobs of the NDC is certainly unenthused with such strategies where political parties or candidates resort to lies just to destroy their opponents. He recalled how people lied that former President John Agyekum Kufour and his appointees had deposited huge sums of money at Prudential Bank in 2008, and therefore called for a “clean politics” this year, to move the country forward. He has since thrown massive support for Nana Akufo-Addo using his Facebook page.
