Indomie Vendors in Bolgatanga Excited With Booming Business

The sale of Talia indomies has become a common and lucrative business in Bolgatanga, the Upper East regional capital and when one walks along the principal streets of the town there are several indomie joints dotted around with booming customers. The business is predominantly operated around the lorry stations where there are a lot of people with most of the vendors having loyal customers who throng there to patronize the delicacy. Others however operate at the outskirts of the township. Generally, the sale of indomie has served as a second stream of income for many including the working class and students. It is largely patronized in the afternoon through to the deep in the night and customers have the free will to request of the operator to prepare with either more pepper or vegetables to suit their taste. It is a common sight to spot several Talia indomie sellers busily operating just a little distance apart without fear of completion as they are confident their food will be sold out by the close of day. Speaking in an interview with Apexnewsgh.com, Madam Barbara Atanga, a vendor at Zaare described the indomie business as lucrative and was hopeful that the holiday season would boost the business more. Another vendor Akiti Amoah expressed excitement at taking up that business as a source of employment adding that, the business is profitable. A student, Abigail Ayolbila expresses her love for Talia indomie, adding that she even eats it after taking the main meal. Another student Clemencia Asakeya maintains she prefers the delicacy over a menu like waakey. Two parents, Elizabeth Adugbire and Emilia Adonganga both said the sale of Talia indomie is helpful to them because the children always opt to buy that as a meal when they are busy with work. Talia indomie is a dish that is prepared by cooking spaghetti, draining off the stock, and then poured into a frying pan on the fire. It is constantly stirred to prevent it from tangling up and some amount of oil is added to it together with pepper and some spices to taste. Some vegetables like cabbage, green pepper, and carrots are then separately parboiled and added to the mixture to garnish. Looking at the light nature of the delicacy, one will assume that it is enjoyed by children, but that is a wrong assertion, as it is enjoyed by adults as well. The least price at which one can buy Taalia indomie is one Ghana Cedis for children and five to seven Ghana Cedis and above for adults, depending on the amount they will eat to fill. There is a diverse opinion on the consumption of the delicacy with many raising concerns about the late night consumption of the food as well as the spicy nature of the delicacy. UER: Piccadilly Biscuits in limited supply in Super Markets in the Bolgatanga

A market survey conducted in the Bolgatanga Municipality to ascertain the availability of the Piccadilly Biscuits on the market during the Christmas and New Year festivities revealed that lovers of the product complained of unavailability on the market. Piccadilly Biscuits have come to define the spirit of Christmas in the country and this year is no exception. In all activities that come with the yuletide, there is nothing more interesting to see than how children react to the arrival of the Piccadilly biscuit. Interestingly, Christmas time is when we see lots of Piccadilly products flooding the market with people’s favorite being the same round biscuit in two packs in a violet box. Sarah Dubure a contributor with Apexnewsgh.com visited four supermarkets in the Bolgatanga Municipality to find out if the product was in stock. The secretary of the Rain Inn supper market, Madam Irene Nyarko said the order made for the Piccadilly biscuit was limited, compared to that of previous years because they anticipated that patronage would be slow because of the elections. At the Daily Needs Supermarket, the product had been discarded because they had gotten to the end of life and did not put in a request for the product. The manager of the Bolgatanga branch of MELCOM, Edward Teye, disclosed that they are yet to receive their stock of the product they requested, admitting that the demand for the product is high. Meanwhile, at the REINSAMIRA Daily Ventures shop, a senior sales girl, Firdaus Azongo, indicated that the last stock of the new brand of biscuit had been sold out, while some of the old brands was still on the shelves. With the anxiety associated with the election now over, it is hoped that generally patronage of the product will go up for shop attendants to cash in on whiles lovers of the Piccadilly Biscuit will savor the product in the New Year celebration. On Monday, August 24 this year, the Piccadilly Biscuit Limited inaugurated a nine million Cedis Plant to introduce a new digestive biscuit with the same ingredient as the imported one at a lower cost. UER: High Aimers Association donates to Timataaba Orphanage Home

High Aimers Association, is a group formed 12 years ago to support issues of development in the Upper East Region. As part of their humanitarian responsibilities have donated some assorted items to Timataaba Orphanage Home in the Talensi District of the Upper East on a boxing day. According to the group leader of High Aimers Mr. Zure Josbert Nworibey who spoke to Apexnewsgh.com after the donation, the motive was to show love and care by celebrating the Christmas festivity with the orphans as a way of letting them know that they are not left out even as other children were fortunate to celebrate the festivity with their biological parents. “We realized that the children living in the orphanage are not there on their own making, they are the less privileged and they are innocent children and it wasn’t their wish to come and stay somewhere outside their biological parent. So, we realized that in our group, we are all married and we have children, so we feel like why must we only celebrate the season with our children alone whiles some children are somewhere without having the same opportunity. So, we feel there is a need to share with these children after celebrating Christmas with our children on December 25, 2020.” However, sharing his experience, Mr. Nworibey said from what High Aimers has witnessed at the scene, the place needs some level of attention. As he called well-meaning citizens of the region home and abroad to come to the aide of Timataaba Orphanage Home. “When we got there, in fact, where they live is a place some of us would wish that in the near future, the place will see a new look to enable them to live a better life. And you know Talensi and Nabdam is almost the same, it is of late that it was separated and Timataaba is the nearest and one of the youngest in the region per our survey.” He stressed Meanwhile, the in-charge at the Timataba Orphanage Home Janet Ndaan who received the items expressed excitement with the kind gesture shown by the group as she prays for more open doors and blessings upon the member of High Aimers Association. Timataaba is not known, people should come in. our main focus was to support or run it by ourselves but along the line, where we were getting our fund by transacting of business general atomic, they bought the computers and didn’t return the money and we started facing challenges, then after that, we started seeking for friends who are closer for support. And indeed, some have heard and come to our aide like you people High Aimers Association we pray that God will connect you more.” She said However, items donated by the Association includes Key soap, omo, soft drink, used clothing, biscuits and envelope of an undisclosed cash amount.
