The silence of the leadership of NABTAG isn’t deliberate but rather engaging authorities to effect payments as soon as possible and other welfare issues. PERMANENT EMPLOYMENT ARRANGEMENTS; ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ Remaining at post pending permanent arrangements as directed by the headquarters must be adhered to; Permanent Employment under Public Sector, Permanent Employment under Private sector and YouStart program are the three main pathways every eligible trainee must look up to by early next year (2022). CONTRACT EXTENSION; ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ NABTAG cannot confirm the one year extension of the program as alleged by some people per our information, disregard that for now and remain focused!!! Every Trainee on the program matters and for that matter, still trust the process and adhere to all directives from Authorities. Let’s agree and disagree constructively. Farmers Day: Diary With Former Minister for Lands and Natural Resources Inusah Fuseini–A Must Read
As Ghana celebrates its 37th edition of Farmers Day, Apexnews-Ghana has been focusing its attention on Ghana’s former Members of Parliament who after moving out of Parliament, have decided to venture into farming as their lifetime business. Mr. Inusah Fuseini is a Ghanaian Lawyer and Politician. He is a former Member of Parliament for Tamale Central constituency and the former Minister for Lands and Natural Resources. One amongst these MPs turned full-time farmer, is Mr. Inusah Fuseini. He was also the former Member of Parliament for Tamale Central constituency and the former Minister for Lands and Natural Resources. As I write today, Mr. Inusah Fuseini is a full-time farmer. This year 2021, he was able to farm 300 acres of rice, as at today Saturday, December 4, 2021, he has already harvested 4,000 bags of rice for the season and hoping to harvest more. Mr. Fuseini said, he is happy and enjoying peace of mind with his current chapter in life. Below is his engagement with Apexnews Ghana Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen on Farmer’s Day: Question: What is the impact of government policy ‘PFJ’ to you as a farmer? For me, the impact of the policy Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) on my activity is the fact that I am into seed production and my seeds will help the policy because peasant farmers will be able to have access to quality seeds for their farms at subsidized prices. But, If you are a commercial farmer and you are into grains, you are not part of the PFJ. You have to buy your input from the open market. You don’t enjoy any subside, you buy your fertilizer from the open market, you buy your seeds from the open market, you buy your chemical from the open market a commercial farmer is not part of the policy initiative. The policy is a poverty alleviation programme, peasant farmers who cannot afford quality seeds, we provide them with quality seeds at subsidized prices. So, when they plant and the yield grows, gradually they will be moving out of poverty because they will be getting better yield. They can’t buy fertilizer in the open market. For the commercial farmer, they presume we have the capacity to buy our farm input. Question: What is your best interest as commercial farmer? To be honest with you, most commercial farmers are not interested in subsidies, we are interested in the market. If I produced, how am I selling? Is there a market? You produced your rice, there is no recognized rice miller. There are small disjointed rice mills around and they buy at different standards, some come with a scale and others don’t come with scale, some of them in every 10 bags, they will collect a bag, some buy a kilo at Ghc1.00 and if you don’t sell, the price of your product will fall and if you have no warehouse to store the product, you will be compelled to sell at a lower price. And as a commercial farmer, if you don’t have a warehouse you will run at a loss because you don’t have a place to store your rice”. That is the reason why when it’s time for harvesting you would see those buyers around trying to buy from commercial farmers immediately after the harvest because they don’t have a place to store their produce and that will force them to sell at a lower price. “And as a commercial farmer, building a warehouse is expensive. So, the one-way government can help commercial farmers, is to build warehouses, so that commercial farmers can rent those warehouses for a period of 6 months. So, with that, if I harvest my rice and there is no market, I can go and put my rice in the warehouse for a certain period of time and before I take the rice I will pay rent, but the rent will be lower. So with that, the commercial farmer will be able to recoup his or her investment”. “Apart from that, the problem for commercial farmers is how to get a market. Because, if the market is good we don’t need any government intervention because we will produce and sell. As a commercial farmers, we are producing to sell not to consume. This year, I farmed 300 acres and I have already harvested about 4,000 bags of rice”. Question: Would you say farming is better than being a Parliamentarian? No, life is in chapters, what am doing now has its challenges and its experiences. It gives me peace of mind and happiness, it makes me conjure of myself, whatever I do, I do for myself, if I do good I do for myself and if I do bad I do for myself, if I put on hard work, am putting it for myself”. So, I don’t need any motivation for anyone to tell me to work hard. I have to work hard because am working for myself. Unlike when one is in parliament, your party is on you, your constituents are on you. “So, this time when I get up and say am going to the farm, am going to the farm, when am at the farm working and feeling tired and I say am going home, am going home, when I say I will get to the farm at 6 o’clock in the morning, I will go to the farm at 6 o’clock in the morning. So, in this chapter of my life, i am in control of myself”. Navrongo: Past contestants of Kologo Paramountcy Skin gives Kologo Chief 1 week ultimatum to retract and apologize to them and the community
Mr. John Bosco Asobayire and Mr. Francis A. Asobayire, the two family brothers that contested the chieftaincy seat with the current paramount chief of Kologo traditional area Naba Clifford Abagna Asobayire, has described the chief’s earlier pronouncement against them on this platform as baseless and face-shaving. Earlier in an interview with Apexnewsgh.com, the Kologo chief accused those who contested him during the chieftaincy race and some assembly members as the same people trying to give him a bad name, following the accusation that he the chief was selling the electricity poles secured for the community rural electrification project. The chief earlier said, “I know, I contested the chieftaincy with some people and they are the same people who are trying to give me a bad name when am doing good for my community”. “And again, the assembly members, i can point 2 or 3 in the community, because of their political interest they wanted these poles I have lobbied and brought to be handed over to them so that they will distribute to the community. So, that when they distribute to the community, they will come and use it to do their politics and I said no to that, I will not accept that today, I won’t accept that tomorrow. I have gone to lobby for the project and they have given it to me to come and give to the community period”. Below is the full rejoinder: RE: NAVRONGO: CHIEFACCUSED OF ALLEGEDLY SELLING POLES PROVIDED FOR HIS COMMUNITY RURAL ELECTRIFICATION PROJECTS. This write up is our reaction to the baseless and face-shaving allegations “Naba” Clifford Abagna Asobayire made against Assemblymen of Kologu and those who contested the Kologo chieftaincy with him. We are referring specifically to the publication by apexnewsgh.com dated 30th November, 2021 captioned above. We those described by Naba Clifford Asobayire ‘Chief of Kologo’, as failed contestant to the Kologo Paramountcy Skin in the said publication wish to set the records straight. The alleged theft/sale of electricity poles by ‘Naba’ Clifford Asobayire is consistent with what we have observed about his character; it has absolutely nothing to do with rivalry in the contest for chieftaincy of Kologo. His problem is self- inflicted and so he should lick his own wounds and not divert public attention. That we have no hands in the above publication of selling electricity poles meant for Kologo and so could not have given you a bad name. It is a fact that we do not work with the Ministry of Energy and therefore could not have known that you, ‘Kologo Chief’, lobbied for poles for the community. We don’t equally work with any electricity company to have known that you are an expert in electricity installations in rural communities. If indeed you Clifford Asobayire, ‘Chief of Kologo’ genuinely lobbied for electricity poles with the intention of providing electricity extension in Kologo, then we will join hands with the community members to thank and appreciate your efforts. That we do not live in Navrongo where we heard you were allegedly selling poles meant for our community and so could not have caused the seizure of the poles. We understand the arrest and seizure of the poles was done by the security personnel we do not part of then, how could we have created bad name for you? Could you ‘Naba’ Clifford, explain to people of Kologo why the security has cause to seize our poles and deny us of speedy extension of electricity to some parts of our communities? We therefore wish to clear our names from the portion of the publication that seeks to portray us as saboteurs of development of our own community. In the prevailing circumstance, we now wish join you in discussing your character that has landed you in this trouble. Merely accusing others of ‘trying to give you a bad name when you are doing good for the community’ is intended to divert public attention and will not wash. Without any prejudice, we wish to state the following as facts about you which are public knowledge. You ‘Naba’ Clifford Asobayire was convicted by the Navrongo District Court on your own plea for stealing and was discharged on caution. This is public knowledge. It is public knowledge that you allegedly stole a bull belonging to a man from Bolga Sirigu and you were caught. You confessed to the act and offered restitution to shelve the matter. Cheating, extortion and intimidation of community members is very consistent with your character and this is public knowledge. Manufacturing your own receipts and exhorting commercial drivers on the roads in the name of Regional House of Chiefs/Traditional Council for your private gains is a criminal offense yet you did that. This case is still pending. Your battle with Kologo youth and Assemblymen involving the Fulani cattle rustling where your conduct was reported to the Regional House of Chiefs is fresh in the minds of the people. How can you say you are in for development, ‘you don’t joke at all with your community’, yet you go about diverting and selling electricity poles meant for Kologo Community. Our Ancestor are watching you and you will be held to account for all your bad deeds. In fact, if what we are seeing at the police station and reported in social media is something to go by, then you have lowered the status of our cherished Skin; the heritage of our forefathers and the pride of the Asobayire Family. You must apologize to us for this infamous and despicable conduct. There are a litany of issues that are waiting to befall you and
