Adwoa Safo made request for 4 weeks leave extension

Adwoa Safo, the Dome-Kwabenya legislator has requested the Speaker of Parliament to extend her leave for four weeks, Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has revealed. “What I can say now is that on Wednesday, she brought a letter, asking for four weeks extension. She explained that her injured child is still responding to treatment. “I cannot say whether she is okay herself or not since I am not there with her,” the Suame MP told Accra-based Neat FM. According to him, the letter was sent to the Speaker on February 28, 2022. The lawmaker’s absence from the House has generated some confusion in the ruling party with some MPs accusing her of blackmailing the party in the attempt to pass the controversial electronic levy. According to the Bekwai MP, all avenues to get the absentee MP to return to the House have proved futile. Interacting on Kumasi-based Pure FM, Mr. Osei-Owusu said, “in our strategy, we have taken it as going to rescue a kidnapped person, you presume she is dead, but if you go and she is alive, then it is God’s grace, and it adds to your gains, so that is our approach. “So as it stands now, we don’t count her as part of us,” he maintained. National prosperity will not come overnight–Prez Akufo-Addo to Ghanaians

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appealed to Ghanaians to exercise some amount of patience with his struggling administration. According to him, “just as our fight for freedom and independence was not achieved in a day, so, too, national prosperity will not come overnight.” The President made the appeal at this year’s ‘President’s Independence Day Awards’ held on Tuesday, 2 March 2022, at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC). President Akufo-Addo said: “As we prepare to celebrate 65 years of independence from colonial power with the theme, ‘Working together, bouncing back to get better,’ let us eschew all acts of divisiveness and self-centeredness which will only retire our forward march”. He added, “We must have the pride to acknowledge that we’ve made positive strides and we must also have the humility to appreciate that we still have some way to go. “We must have the patience to accept that just as our fight for freedom and independence was not achieved in a day, so too national prosperity will not come overnight.” He believes, his government is “establishing a solid foundation for the economic take-off of our country in peace and in unity” while expressing optimism that “we will build a new Ghanaian civilization which will attract the admiration of Africa and the world.” Before the 2016 elections, President Nana Akufo-Addo, who is currently in his second administration, promised to make Ghana a better place by way of fixing the country in less than two years especially if Ghanaians give him the mandate. “I am promising you that within 18 months of a new government of the NPP, under my leadership, the face of our country, Ghana, is going to change. We are going to get out of stagnation and backwardness and move our country onto the path of progress and prosperity. We can do it. We, the Ghanaian people, have the capacity to change the circumstances of our lives”, he then promised. “This will be a Ghana with opportunities for all, and where everybody is taken care of. We will have a society that is caring and compassionate and expresses solidarity. Nobody is going to be left behind. We are all going to march together, hands linked together, to that great future that beckons us, here in Ghana”, President Akufo-Addo added. He made these promises as the then flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party in November 2016 during a rally in Northern Region. Navrongo: People of Navrongo Constituency want Gregory Abasang as MP in 2024

Youth, men and women of the Navrongo Constituency in both home and abroad have intensified their calls for their son Gregory Abasang to represent the people of Navrongo under the ticket of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 Parliamentary elections. Apexnewsgh.com report According to the people, they believe Mr. Abasang will be a good replacement for the party and the people of Navrongo after the death of their political hero and the former Aviation Minister late Joseph Kofi Adda. However, upon hearing all these calls from the good people of Navrongo and knowing the political history about area, Apexnewsgh.com contacted Mr. Abasang for his urgent response following the continuous calls from his people to lead them in 2024 he said: “I was thinking it was too early for people to start looking for somebody to represent them in Parliament because there is an already sitting MP in Parliament”. According to him, “…the party is very important and bigger than any other person. NPP from the history since the formation of the party in 1992, the only disgraceful election we ever had in Navrongo, is the 2020 election due to hearsay. And that is what am thinking about how to resolve it and am consulting almost everybody in the constituency by way of telling them to sit up and leave everything behind us. Because we need to unite on the condition that we love the party and no matter how it is, NPP is greater than individual interest”. He said He said most times, people don’t understand that “As an MP, you are your people’s messenger if you understand and is not your duty to be telling them how rich you are. You must go and lobby for projects for your constituency to serve the people. So, it is wrong for an MP to always tell his constituents that he or she brought so and so development and if you don’t vote for him, he will deal with you. The MPs easily forgot that, is the poor boy, poor woman and our poor fathers and mothers who always give them the opportunity to represent us in Parliament”. He pointed Meanwhile, responding to those asking him to lead them in 2024, he said the voice of the people is the voice of God. But, stressing he has not made a decision yet. However, he thinks the senior men and women who should rather lead the party not him (Gregory) the poor boy. He wish they all come together and forget of incoming candidate but rather should look forward for good measures to unite the party in Navrongo.
