MTN Ghana gives special treat to mothers on Mothers’ Day
MTN Ghana gave a special treat to over 500 women across the country as part of activities to mark this year’s Mothers’ Day celebrations. A number of mothers were treated to the MTN Movie Mania experience at the Golden Eagle Cinema in Kumasi. Other mothers received gift items such as electronic vouchers from Max Mart and Melcom to shop online. The celebration continues on May 19, 2023, with the premiere of the ‘Fast and Furious’ movie at the Silver Bird Cinema at Accra Mall. Commenting on the celebrations, the Senior Manager for Consumer Marketing at MTN Ghana, Mrs. Nana Asantewaa Amegashie, said, “Mothers occupy a special place in the family system, working to ensure that families are well nurtured for the benefit of the entire society. “As the biggest family in Ghana, MTN decided to use the Mother’s Day occasion to allow mothers to take a break from their daily activities, have some fun and enjoy some gifts. We celebrate mothers for their priceless contributions that have contributed to the growth of the MTN brand”. The beneficiaries of this year’s celebrations expressed their gratitude to MTN for being thoughtful, and for recognising them not just as customers but as mothers making significant contributions to the development of Ghana. Number 12 exposé: Anas refuses to allow Nyantakyi identify him
Ace investigative Journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, has rejected an order by an Accra High Court to allow former Ghana Football Association President, Kwasi Nyantakyi, to identify him in chambers before he testifies in open court in his face mask. The court, presided over by Justice Marie Louise Simmons, on Wednesday, May 17, ruled to allow Anas to conceal his identity during his testimony but will first be identified by Mr. Nyantakyi in chambers. However, a statement released by the investigative firm, Tiger Eye PI said if Anas is allowed to be identified by Nyantakyi in the Judge’s chambers his security and safety would compromised. Tiger Eye recounted that one of its investigators, Ahmed Suale, was killed on the same day he had had engagements with the Attorney General’s office on his testimony against the accused person in the above-styled case. “As much as Anas is willing and ready to testify for the prosecution, doing so under the condition specified by the court, presents a clear and present danger to his security and safety. “Under these circumstances, prudence requires that he declines the invitation to endanger his life and accordingly declines the invitation to reveal his identity to the accused person in the judges’ chamber or any other place.” Below is the full statement by Tiger Eye NYANTAKYI AND LAWYERS TO SEE ANAS’S FACE BEFORE COURT PROCEEDINGS RE: REPUBLIC V. KWESI NYANTAKYI AND ANOTHER 1. Tiger Eye P.I has taken notice of the ruling by the High Court sitting in Accra to allow undercover journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas to testify wearing mask in open court on condition that he shows his face to the accused person in the judges’ chambers first. 2.Anas had earlier agreed to testify as a witness for the prosecution in the above styled case after Ahmed Hussein Suale was gruesomely murdered, on condition that his identity is protected. 3.Anas’s request for the protection of his identity stems from his role as an undercover agent and the real and elevated risk that revealing his identity to the accused person will severely compromise his physical security and personal safety. 4.It should be recalled that the late Ahmed Hussein Suale, a star witness in this case, was assassinated in broad daylight in 2019. His assassination occurred on the same day that he had had engagements with the Attorney General’s office on his testimony against the accused person in above styled case. 5.Prior to his gruesome murder, the late Ahmed Suale had been threatened with death by Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi and had been the subject of callous media attacks for his role as a star witness in the case, culminating in the revealing of his identity on national television and social media by Mr Kennedy Agyapong, the MP for Assin-Central constituency. 6.As much as Anas is willing and ready to testify for the prosecution, doing so under the condition specified by the court, presents a clear and present danger to his security and safety, especially because of the issues chronicled above. 7.Under these circumstances, prudence requires that he declines the invitation to endanger his life and accordingly declines the invitation to reveal his identity to the accused person in the judges’ chamber or any other place. 8.Tiger Eye endorses the position of Anas and states that it is proper and wise to err on the side of caution to avoid any potential attack on another of its investigators. 9.Tiger Eye’s position is further buttressed by the unrelenting, coordinated, and well-financed media and other campaigns by private and State actors to undermine its operations and the Anas principle, which stand in their way of amassing corruption and social injustice. 10. Dancegod Lloyd: I’m a proud Ashaiman boy, not everyone from the town is ‘a rascal’
Laud Anoo Konadu, professionally called Dancegod Lloyd, has revealed that he is an Ashaiman boy who, unlike before, is happy to be associated to the infamous town known for its slums and seen as a hub of crime. He said he did not have the stereotypical Ashaiman boy look. However, “I used to look down on myself when I was living in Ashaiman,” he confessed. He added that he used to be shy of saying he was from the Greater Accra township when he made friends outside the place. Host Nana Romeo asked why. “My self-esteem was low,” he answered. “My confidence was very very low. It was timidity or something like that.” Noting that his outlook has changed and “it’s not like that anymore,” he recalled having great conversations with people in the past only to lose their interest once he disclosed where he lived. The co-founder of the star Dance With A Purpose (DWP) group said, because of those past days, he desired to correct the perception held by many and “bridge” people from Ashaiman and people from other localities. Roma into Europa League final
Jose Mourinho’s Roma reached the Europa League final by holding Bayer Leverkusen to a goalless draw in the second leg of their semi-final tie. Edoardo Bove’s goal gave the Italian side a 1-0 win in the first leg, and that was enough to take them through. Moussa Diaby struck the crossbar for Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen side in the first half of the second leg, but they could not find the breakthrough. Roma progress to face Sevilla in the final in Budapest on 31 May. Mourinho has won all five of his previous five European finals, including last season’s Europa Conference League with Roma. “My concern isn’t marking my place in the Roma history books,” Mourinho told Sky Sports. “It’s helping these kids [players] to grow and achieve important things. “It’s also helping the Roma fans who have given me so much since day one. Police Officers numbering 82 Sued Police IGP And Attorney General
Some Police officers numbering 82 have sued the Attorney General (1st defendant), the Ghana Police Service (2nd defendant), and the Inspector General of Police (3rd defendant). The 82 police officers were not happy that the Ghana Police Service has not taken steps to promote them after they finished their studies under the organization’s study leave with pay policy. Meanwhile, the officers led by Deputy Inspector Kofi Osal claim they were given their due promotions as well as entry into the Police College after the successful completion of their studies during the 2017/2018 academic year.
