The Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS) issued a firm denial regarding their participation in gathering relief items for the individuals affected by the Akosombo Dam spillage. Addressing the reports, the Ministry explicitly stated that they had not given authorization to any individuals to solicit or gather relief items intended for the victims of the tragic incident in the Volta Region. On Monday, October 23, 2023, the Public Relations Unit released a statement disclosing the fraudulent actions of several individuals. More than 700 killed as Israel’s increased strikes across Gaza-Palestinians say
In the past day, Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip have rapidly expanded and tragically resulted in the deaths of over 700 individuals, according to health officials. This has had a devastating impact on medical facilities in the area, with many forced to close due to bombing damage and a lack of power. The death toll from these airstrikes is unprecedented in the long-standing Israeli-Palestinian conflict and raises concerns about further loss of life in Gaza. Israeli ground forces, supported by tanks and artillery, are expected to launch an offensive into the territory with the aim of crushing Hamas. As a result of Israel sealing off the territory after the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas militants on towns in southern Israel, the people of Gaza, numbering 2.3 million, have been experiencing intensifying bombardment and are facing shortages of food, water, and medicine. Israel has reported conducting a total of 400 airstrikes on Tuesday, taking out key Hamas leaders, targeting militants in the midst of rocket launch preparations, and striking command centers and a Hamas tunnel shaft. Reporting crime over the phone in English no longer permitted in Spain
Instead, victims of minor crimes will be required to complete an online form and sign it at their local police station. Previously, individuals who were victimized had the option of calling the National Police and reporting the incident in English, which provided much-needed reassurance for non-Spanish speaking tourists and expats. Regrettably, this is no longer the case, and those who wish to report a crime over the phone will need to be proficient in the Spanish language. As an alternative, English speakers can inform the National Police of the incident through the Virtual Complaints Office. To do so, victims of a minor crime must fill out an online form, which must then be signed in person at a police station within 72 hours. However, it is important to note that the Virtual Complaints Office should not be used in situations involving physical violence or intimidation, when the perpetrator is known or recognizable, you must be under 18 year of age. OSP collaborating with FBI officials to strengthen relation
Mr. Kissi Agyebeng, Ghana’s Special Prosecutor, recently traveled to Washington D.C. where he held meetings with officials from the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Department of Justice (DOJ). The purpose of these meetings was to gain knowledge about their organizational structure, operations, and best practices, in order to foster collaboration and strengthen capacity building. During his time in Washington D.C., the Special Prosecutor met with Jason Beachy, the Acting Assistant Director of the International Operations Division, as well as several unit chiefs from the FBI. Additionally, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) visited the Department of Justice where they were received by Arun G. Rao, the Deputy Assistant Attorney General, and Richard Goldberg, the Deputy Director of the Consumer Protection Branch (CPB) within the Justice Department’s Civil Division. Two weeks prior to this visit, the OSP had announced their collaboration with the FBI in conducting simultaneous investigations into the activities of Cecilia Abena Dapaah. The ongoing investigations primarily focus on examining the assets and financial transactions of Ms. Dapaah and her associates within the United States of America. The purpose of this collaborative effort is to determine the legality of the wealth accumulated by Ms. Dapaah and her associates, both concerning the movement of funds from Ghana to the United States and vice versa. In recent news, Cecilia Dapaah and her husband have filed a complaint with the police regarding stolen cash from their home by their maid. According to their report, the maid allegedly stole $1 million in cash from their bedroom, as well as a sum of money in Euros and Ghana cedis, clothing, and jewelry. Following the public disclosure of this information, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has intervened to investigate the source of the money. However, Ms. Dapaah is currently seeking an interlocutory injunction against the OSP in an attempt to halt the investigation and potential prosecution of herself and her husband, Daniel Osei Kufuor.
