The Manhyia South Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region, Alhaji Mustapha Alhasan, was recently granted bail by the Ashanti Region Police Command after being invited for threatening political violence in a viral video.
He was accompanied to the Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) by Regional Executives of the NDC, with a convoy from the party’s regional headquarters followed by many party sympathizers showing support for him.
The party’s lawyer, Chapman Zigga, announced that bail had been secured for Alhaji Mustapha Alhasan, who had been charged with “the offense of offensive conduct and threat of life.” Alhasan is expected to report to the police headquarters on February 26 for further processing of his case.
The Ashanti Regional chairman of the NDC, Nana Kwasi Andrews, condemned the comments made in the video but emphasized that the party would not tolerate any form of intimidation, affirming their determination to win the 2024 elections.
He expressed the party’s focus on securing victory in the upcoming elections to advance their developmental agenda in the region.
The NDC’s Ashanti Regional Secretary, Dr. Frank Amoahkohene, revealed that the police would be inviting Emmanuel Nsafoah, the individual involved in the banter with Alhasan in the video, to question him about his provocative statements regarding the transfer of power between political parties.
The NDC remains committed to their goal of bringing John Dramani Mahama back to power and ensuring development in the Ashanti Region.
