Nollywood actor, Junior Pope Odonwodo, popularly known as Junior Pope, has been confirmed dead after a tragic drowning incident while attempting to cross the River Niger during the making of a movie. Apexnewsgh reports
The 39-year-old actor, along with three of his colleagues, reportedly drowned in the Delta State axis of the River Niger while returning from a movie location in a boat.
The news of Junior Pope’s death was confirmed by the National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Rollas, in an Instagram post in the early hours of Thursday. SaharaReporters initially reported the incident and also mentioned that the AGN President had initially announced that Junior Pope was revived and receiving treatment in a hospital.
However, despite efforts to revive him, Junior Pope eventually passed away. Emeka Rollas shared the heartbreaking news on his Instagram page, expressing his sadness over the loss. The actor, who would have celebrated his 40th birthday on May 7, 2024, was a beloved figure in the Nollywood industry.
The unfortunate incident has left the entertainment industry and fans of Junior Pope in mourning. The search for the other missing bodies of his colleagues is still ongoing, adding to the tragedy of the situation.
