In a ruling handed down on Tuesday, July 23, the High Court in Accra found Frank Annor Dompreh, Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyire Constituency, guilty of contempt. Apexnewsgh reports

The Court, presided over by Justice Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku, imposed a fine of 600 penalty units, equivalent to GHc7,200, after Mr. Annor Dompreh pleaded guilty to the offense.

The MP was cited for contempt after disrupting a court bailiff and police officers who were attempting to carry out an execution order related to a disputed land case. The Court took into account Mr. Annor Dompreh’s status as a public figure, stating that he should have known better than to interfere with the court’s work.

While sparing him a custodial sentence, Justice Adjin-Doku emphasized that the fine was necessary to reflect the seriousness of the offense. The conviction and sentencing of the MP serve as a reminder of the importance of respecting the rule of law and the authority of the courts.
