National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has expressed optimism that the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) selection of Mathew Opoku Prempeh (Napo) as running mate will boost the NDC’s chances of winning the December 7 polls. Apexnewsgh reports
Speaking on CTV’s morning show, Dwabo, on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, Mr. Nketia described the NPP’s choice as beneficial to the NDC due to Napo’s perceived arrogance and disrespectfulness. He likened the situation to playing football against a team with a weakened goalkeeper, implying that the NPP’s selection has compromised their position.
Mr. Nketia criticized Napo’s behavior, citing his disrespect towards Kwame Nkrumah, and questioned the NPP’s strategy of emphasizing Napo’s royal lineage. He emphasized that the NDC prioritizes equality and does not consider royal heritage when selecting leaders, pointing out that in Akan tradition, inheritance is matrilineal, making Napo not a true royal.
The NDC Chairman’s comments suggest that his party is confident of capitalizing on perceived weaknesses in the NPP’s ticket to secure victory in the upcoming elections.
