Ghana’s Black Stars are gearing up for their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar, and head coach Otto Addo has named a strong 23-man squad to face the challenges ahead. Apexnewsgh reports
Led by captain Jordan Ayew, the team boasts a mix of experienced players and fresh talent. Three home-based players – Benjamin Asare of Accra Hearts of Oak, Kamaradini Mamudu of Medeama SC, and Razak Simpson of Nations FC – have earned their places in the squad.
Deputy captain Thomas Partey, who missed four Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers last year, returns to the team, bringing his invaluable experience of over 50 appearances for Ghana since his debut in June 2016.
Other notable inclusions are Kamal Deen Sulemana of Southampton FC, who has regained full fitness after a lengthy injury layoff, and Jerry Afriyie of CD Lugo, who impressed in the match against Niger in November last year. Belgium-based Christopher Bonsu Baah, who plays for Genk, has also received an invitation to join the team.
The Black Stars will assemble on Monday, March 17, 2025, and train for four days before hosting Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, 2025. They will then travel to Morocco to face Madagascar in another Group I match on Monday, March 24, 2025.
Ghana is currently second in Group I with nine points from four matches, level with Comoros. With their qualifying campaign already underway, the Black Stars are determined to secure their spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
