In a decisive victory, Paramount Chief of the Chiana Traditional Area, Pe Ditundini Adiali Ayagitam III, has secured the Upper East Regional slot of the Council of State membership. Apexnewsgh reports
Chiana-Pio polled 18 votes out of 30, surpassing his six opponents in the election held at the Regional House of Chiefs in Bolgatanga.
Thomas More trailed behind with 5 votes, while Peter Baba Aluze-ele and Justice Aduko obtained 3 and 2 votes, respectively. Balinia Adda Dennis and Bismarck Adongo Ayorogo managed only a single vote each, and Elias Ayinbila Apasiya surprisingly received no votes.
Initially, nine individuals had filed to contest the election, but two withdrew just days before the polls. Arabogo Ben Azumah cited personal reasons, while Desmond Ayambire Abire pulled out to support Chiana-Pio, citing alignment with the paramount chief’s vision for inclusive governance and development.
This victory marks Chiana-Pio’s second election win in less than six months, following his re-election as president of the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs in September 2024. However, the latter victory is currently being contested in court.
