The Electoral Commission (EC) has directed its district officers to transition to offline registration mode, effective Thursday, May 9, 2024. Apexnewsgh reports

This move is in response to network challenges encountered on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, which caused delays in the registration process.

In a statement released by the EC, the Commission apologized for the inconvenience caused by the network issues. “The Commission apologizes for the delays experienced this afternoon,” the statement read.

To address the situation, the EC assured stakeholders that measures are being taken to ensure a smooth registration process for all eligible voters. Additionally, the Commission emphasized that if there is a backlog of voters at the end of the 21-day process, the registration exercise will be extended beyond the May 27, 2024 deadline.

The EC’s decision to switch to offline registration mode aims to mitigate the impact of network challenges and ensure a seamless registration experience for all eligible voters.
