The usage of guns in the country by armed robbers and other criminals  gangs has sparked controversies mostly among citizens about the source of supply

In some instances, criminals in the country are reported by the police service to have used powerful guns in their operations than what they (police) use.

Whiles some citizens and security experts blame the security services including the police, management of these bodies have insisted on their innocence.

Two repented ex-convicts who served various jail terms for robbery have revealed that some officers in the security services in the country offer them weapons for their robbery activities.

According to these two repented robbers whose names were not mentioned for security reasons, some people in the security services are armed robbers themselves.

“Some people who protect citizens (police and military) have dealings with robbers. It could be a friend from your childhood or someone who knows you as a hardened criminal that person can give you a gun for operations.  They do that for money. And there are people who were robbers before entering the military or the police, when you contact such people it becomes very easy for you to get a gun. Some of them are just like robbers”. The Ex-Convict told Luv FM in Kumasi monitored by Mynewsgh.com.

They also revealed that, apart from the police who offer them guns, some big men in the country also fund them with guns to make money for them.

Speaking on where they also get to buy these powerful guns to buy themselves, they hinted that there are places in the country where these guns are strictly sold to hardened people for robbery activities.

“There so many places where ammunitions are sold in this country at Kumasi Magazine you can get to buy locally manufactured ones or imported. However it is sold to some of us they know and not anybody”, they hinted
