Ghana is staring into the face of a serious energy crisis, with its fuel stock for power generation dwindling to alarming levels. Apexnewsgh reports

According to John Abdulai Jinapor, Member of Parliament for the Yapei-Kusawgu constituency and energy expert, the country has only five hours’ worth of fuel left. This dire situation was revealed in an interview with Joy News, where Jinapor warned of the impending crisis.

The NDC MP attributed the crisis to the outgoing Nana-Addo-led government’s failure to purchase fuel, despite repeated concerns and calls from the NDC transition team. Jinapor emphasized that Ghana’s current fuel supply for power generation will not last more than two days, citing insufficient heavy fuel oil and diesel fuel reserves.

“This administration has not placed any fuel orders as we speak,” Jinapor concluded, highlighting the urgency of the situation. His comments came after the swearing-in ceremony of President John Mahama in Accra on January 7.

With Ghana’s energy sector already plagued by challenges, including instability, low voltage, and blackouts, this latest development raises concerns about the country’s ability to meet its energy demands.
