Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, the Majority Chief Whip, has publicly accepted responsibility for the chaotic events that unfolded during parliamentary proceedings on January 30, 2025. Apexnewsgh reports

Appearing before the adhoc committee investigating the incident, Dafeamekpor expressed regret over the damage caused to Parliament’s image.

As one of the four MPs suspended over the incident, Dafeamekpor acknowledged that he wasn’t proud of his actions and accepted his punishment in good faith. He attributed the chaos to Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh’s insistence on his own modus operandi, which led to a physical clash between MPs and the destruction of tables and microphones.

The incident occurred when the Minority resisted the vetting of Okudzeto Ablakwa and Kwabena Mintah Akandoh. The Speaker, Alban Bagbin, established a committee to investigate the events surrounding the disruption, which has been given a 10-day deadline to report its findings and recommendations.

However, the minority members of the committee have withdrawn from the investigations, citing bias on the chairman’s part. Despite this, Dafeamekpor’s acceptance of responsibility marks a significant step towards accountability and healing within the parliamentary community.
