President John Dramani Mahama’s Thank You Tour visit to the Upper East Region took a significant turn when he revealed that Attorney General Dominic Ayine is investigating the $12 million payment made for the construction of the Pawlungu multipurpose dam. Apexnewsgh reports
Despite the initial fanfare during the sod-cutting ceremony, the project now stands abandoned, with no tangible work done.
The President expressed his disappointment and concern, stating that the project has become a crime scene, with taxpayers’ money squandered without accountability. This case is one of the hundreds being studied by the Attorney General as part of the government’s Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) initiative.
To revive the project, Mahama has instructed the Finance Minister to recoup the funds and reevaluate the project’s various phases for inclusion in the BIG PUSH infrastructure financing program. Additionally, the government is exploring the expertise of Ghanaian civil engineers to achieve a world-class project.
The President’s commitment to transparency and accountability is evident in his actions. By tasking the Attorney General with investigating the Pawlungu dam project, Mahama is sending a strong message that corruption will not be tolerated.
The people of the Upper East Region and Ghana as a whole can take heart in knowing that their leader is working tirelessly to recover looted funds and promote development.
