We’re committed to arresting subsidised fertiliser smuggling – Dery

The Minister for Interior Ambrose Dery has urged citizens living in communities across the country’s borders to effectively support and collaborate with the security agencies to help reduce the smuggling of subsidised fertilisers. He similarly appealed to the country’s traditional rulers to assist the security forces to cut down the smuggling of fertilisers out of the country since this would help ensure the successful implementation of Government’s programmes and policies. The Minister, as well, urged the security agencies, especially the Immigration Services to be vigilant in abating the smuggling of fertilisers meant for the Planting for Food and Jobs programme out of the country. Ambrose Dery made these appeal when he was answering a question posed by the MP for South Dayi Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor on steps the Ministry was taking to curb the smuggling of fertilisers meant for the Planting for Food and Job Programme across the borders. He disclosed that the Ministry has identified the causes of the smuggling and shortages and was mapping out better strategies to get fertilisers to farmers across the country directly, which he explained, will help the Ministry to solve the canker of fertiliser smuggling in the border parts of the country. The Minister, however, lamented that since the Agricultural Ministry cannot fight the canker alone, it was partnering with National Security, Immigration Service and the Ghana Police Service to find a lasting solution to the problem, adding that he saw smuggling of fertilisers as a national issue. —Parliament Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications. Azugu under IGP not me – Dery tells parliament in answer to why he’s still at post

Deputy Superintendent of Police, Samuel Kojo Azugu, has, since 27 May 2021, been recalled by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) from the Ministry of National Security and duly reassigned within the Ghana Police Service, Minister for the Interior Ambrose Dery has told parliament on Thursday, 8 July 2021. “So, he is no more with National Security. He’s now with the Ghana Police Service”, Mr Dery told the chamber while answering a question filed by Ashaiman MP Ernest Norgbey about why DSP Azugu was still at post despite a recommendation by the Emile Short Commission that probed the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election violence that he be sanctioned. The former Commander of the SWAT unit’s name also came up for the wrong reason in May this year following the assault of Citi FM journalist Caleb Kudah. Mr Dery, however, deflected the question about DSP Azugu’s continuous stay in the police service, to the IGP. “Mr Speaker, your question was that he remains at post and my answer is that he is not at the Ministry of National Security but he is back with the Ghana Police Service. Besides, let me emphasise that by Article 202 of the Constitution, operational matters are in the remit of the IGP not the Minister”, he said. DSP Azugu’s transfer came some three weeks after the assault of the Citi FM journalist by some national security operatives within the enclave of the National Security Ministry for taking a video of some abandoned state-acquired vehicles within the MASLOC yard – a no-photography zone. Following Mr Kudah’s arrest, seven heavily armed security operatives barged into Citi FM’s premises at Adabraka to arrest Mrs Zoe Abu-Baidoo Addo, Caleb’s alleged co-conspirator, to whom he electronically forwarded the secret recordings via his mobile phone. Mr Kudah claimed he was pushed, slapped and kicked in the groin by the security operatives when he was arrested. Already, four operatives involved in the alleged assault – a military officer and three police officers on secondment to the National Security outfit – had been withdrawn and sent back to their mother units. Lieutenant Colonel Frank Agyemang, the soldier, was subsequently appointed as the Commanding Officer of the 64 Infantry Battalion. —classfm Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications. Mugabe Maase gives detail info on Gh¢5Million ‘vetting motivation’ given to NDC MPs in exchange for approval

Fire spitting journalist with Power FM aligned with the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Mugabe Salifu Maase has alleged that an amount of Gh¢5Million Ghana Cedis inducement in exchange for the approval of all Akufo-Addo nominees, especially the trio of Dominic Nitiwul, Ambrose Dery and Albert Kan Dapaah as ministers of Defence, Interior and National Security respectively, MyNewsGH.com reports. NDC members on social media have been hitting hard at the Haruna Iddrisu-led minority side on the appointments committee for passing the above Ministers-Designate. On Tuesday, March 2, 2021, the National Communications Officer of the NDC Sammy Gyamfi himself on Accra-based Asempa Fm indicated that the party felt betrayed by the NDC MPs on the appointments committee. Following this, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ningo-Prampram, Sam George said while he understands the pain and anger of National Democratic Congress (NDC) members regarding the vetting results, what the NDC MPs did was “in the long term collective good” of the party, as MyNewsGh.com reported yesterday. The new twist added by Mugabe Maase of PowerFM is that the approval was induced by money, alleging that an amount of 5million was placed on the table. According to Mugabe Maase, he is informed that “They are going about saying they have given you Ghc5million Ghana Cedis. That’s what I heard at Tantra Hill filling station around Champion Divine Clinic. That’s what I heard. From a sitting Member of Parliament. I don’t want to believe it. But that is what I heard!” Mugabe Maase also revealed that two NDC MPs, the Honourable Okudzeto Ablakwa and Alhassan Suhuyini rejected their share of the money, according to his source. He further disclosed that the NPP MPs he encountered said they were very certain all Akufo-Addo appointees will sail through because they have paid their way. Mugabe warned the NDC MPs on the appointment committee not to dare make any wrong move because the grassroots of the party are watching and will not accept any “shenanigans” from anybody, warning he doesn’t fear anybody because no one, including those on the appointment committee cannot buy him. Ministerial list: Names coming and their possible positions

Considering the general order of things, the poorly-performing ministers are more likely to be dropped as some other new personality likely to replace them. Already, some names have pop up as potential ministers under the newly formed Akufo-Addo-led administration, some of these include maintained ministers who may be moved to other ministries, some who may be maintained in their ministries and others who may be the freshers in the team. Reshuffled ministers: According to a Dailyguide newspaper report, former Education Minister Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh (Napo) may be taking on John Peter Amewu’s former job as Energy Minister whilst Mr Amewu who is now the Hohoe MP moves to the Railways Ministry as substantive Minister. This will leave Mr Opoku Prempeh’s position for his former Deputy, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum who was quite cooperative with the administration of his duties in his previous capacity. Dan Botwe who was iconic with the reorganization and establishment of the 6 new regions as Regional Reorganisation and Development Minister is likely, per DailyGuide’s report, to be moved to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development which was previously occupied by Hajia Alima Mahama. Samuel Atta Akyea who was Works and Housing Minister may be moved to the Environment Ministry as its Minister. Retained Ministers: For those who particularly left distinctive marks after their first term, they have been projected to retain their various ministerial appointments. Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, Roads Minister who spearheaded the Year of Roads project, Kwasi Amoako Atta has also been named, Communications and Information Ministers, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful and Kojo Oppong Nkrumah respectively, have been mentioned for this category. Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, Food and Agriculture minister who spearheaded the Planting for Food and Jobs Policy, Trade Minister, Alan Kyerematen, and Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey also have their names emerging for retaining. Defence Minister, Dominic Nitiwul, Ambrose Dery, Interior Minister, Gender Minister, Cynthia Morrison and Transport Minister, Kwaku Ofori Asiamah also made the speculated list as reported by DailyGuide. It is still unknown, however, what the fate of Attorney General, Gloria Afua Akuffo will be moving forward; whether or not she will be maintained or if there even is any possibility of her being replaced by her deputy Godfred Dame who has become more popular in recent times. DISINGENUOUS POLITICAL AGENDA: THE DICTATORIAL POLITICS OF THE NANDOM NPP MP

DISINGENUOUS POLITICAL AGENDA: THE DICTATORIAL POLITICS OF THE NANDOM NPP MP

For sometimes now I have decided to take a break from telling everyone everything that is wrong in the Nandom Constituency. For some reasons I assumed that everyone who matters in the progress and growth of our great tradition in the Constituency knows already the right posturing for the growth of the party. But recent happenings in Nandom in the NPP camp post a different scenario and therefore the edge to make known the untold truths hidden under the cover of a white gown. It’s not all well in the camp of the NPP in Nandom. The politics of ‘The Boss’ leaves much to be desired. Too often it is a cynical charade employed as a political tactic to promoting himself and damaging the other. Now, before you dismiss me as NPP and a supporter of the Hon. Ambrose Der, which is a habit of those sycophantic elements around him, I am a recognised member of the National Communication Team of our great party, the NPP. I campaigned independently and vigorously for the party in 2016. My views vary issue-to-issue but more central to the monopolised politics of Hon Ambrose Dery. I believe that in as much as we endear to hold on to the Nandom seat for as long as we want, hypocrisy and exploitation should be intolerable, regardless of the perpetrators. In my last epistle to commemorate the 63rd birthday of the Honourable MP and Minister of the Interior, which occasioned a rather stomach-directed reply from the Constituency secretary, I reiterated our collective efforts in the rebirth of partisan politics in Nandom from the early 2000s. The reply, instead of addressing the issues I raised, belaboured the usual vendettas and personalised sentimentalism. This however did not come to me as a surprise because when you join the dinner table without knowing the source of the food and it’s preparations, the taste of the food will endear you to losing your manners. Those who were around in the early hours of the dawn of NPP politics and party organisation can comprehend deeply the statement I related above. Napoleon Hill, wrote in his book, “Outwitting the Devil” that “Fear is the tool of a man-made Devil. Self-confident faith in one’s self is both the man-made weapon which defeats this Devil and the man-made tool which builds a triumphant life. And it is more than that. It is a link to the irresistible forces of the universe which stand behind a man who does not believe in failure and defeat as being anything but temporary experiences.” This quote needs no further interpretation. It is a befitting statement for the rise of partisan politics in Nandom. It was with self-confident faith in the youths of Nandom in the years referenced above that we were able to overcome this man-made Devil call FEAR. I could go on, but I believe you got the gist. Yes, the political future of Nandom is well situated in the context of Napoleon Hill’s statement. Even Hon. Ambrose Der knows well that whatever fruits he enjoys today are the labour of people who cleared the paths before his joining the Party in 2003. In Nandom NPP today, we are confronted with yet another man-made Devil. A Devil we all thought we had conquered some years ago. This time, the devil isn’t the fear of political identity as it was before the 2000s, it’s the fear of one’s contribution being rejected by a party he or she belongs to. This rejection is orchestrated by the hard and soft influences of the MP and party executives in the Constituency. It is for a disingenuous agenda implored by the MP to create disaffection and discourage party activism. You might not notice its impact now, particularly when you are a political dependant and an opportunist around the MP. But I tell you, it’s a linear extrapolation of several trends on vivid display. This, when not addressed, will kill party activism, sacrifices and hard work. The question needing answer is who is competing with the MP in Nandom NPP? What are his fears for colonizing the party in Nandom? In my Political experience , political party activism is a process of working to accomplish a collective party goal. This is most convenient through attitudinal and behavioural traits of the cohorts, in particular, the socioeconomic status of activists. Their respective contributions form the basis for growth and enthusiasm within the rank and file of the party. This doesn’t matter if one is a patron activist, platform activist or foot soldier activist. Party activists become contributors to the overall party agenda because they expect their contributions to spur up the party’s numerical simulation. Elsewhere in the country, this isn’t a herculean task for stakeholders in the Party. In Nandom’s NPP, contribution to the Party in the form of your time, money, party t-shirts and paraphernalia are much more heavy duty on the activist than the activist’s search for the time, money, party t-shirts and paraphernalia. You will be treated as though you are carrying stolen items. This has been ongoing for a very long time since 2010. This time, the party’s Presidential candidate’s and Parliamentary candidate’s embroidery designed t-shirts were refused by the Parliamentary candidate, Hon. Ambrose Dery, and the Constituency Chairman and Secretary. What the reasons are, we’re yet to know. Mr. Alois K. Mohl, Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Social Investment Fund (SIF), undisputedly one of the industrious card bearing members of the NPP in Nandom. He’s one of the few pillars upon which the party’s shoulders rest. His benevolence and philanthropic efforts in helping and supporting party structures can never be underestimated. Unfortunately, his actions on countless times have received suspension and most of the time treated with scorn and disdain. Overall, the MP has never lost an opportunity to tell people that individuals who have had the opportunity of being appointed by the president from the area have developed cold feet towards supporting the party’s activities in the constituency.
