The National Democratic Congress To Sue The Electoral Commission

Ghana went on Polls on Monday 7th December 2020 and the results is finally declared by the electoral commission head by Madam Jean Mensa, thus election has been a successful and peaceful of the elections held in Ghana.

Before the declaration of the results, members of the NDC party members besieged the Electoral Commission headquarters protesting the results after many media houses projected Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-addo the winner based on their provisional results even before the the electoral commission finally declared him the winner.

Nonetheless, President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo has been declared the winner of the 2020 general elections. During a press conference at the Commission’s headquarters in Accra, Nana Akufo-Addo polled 6,730,413, representing 51.595% while John Mahama garnered 6, 214, 889 representing 47.366% in the 8th election in the 4th Republic that had a dozen candidates.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) are not at heart with the results declared by Madam Jean Mensah, the head of the electoral commission. The Minority Leader of Parliament, Haruna Iddrisu, has said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will not accept the outcome of the 2020 Elections as declared by the EC, “this is something the NDC can never endorse”. He said this few minutes after Nana Addo was declared the winner of the presidential race.
According to him, the party is informed of some electoral malpractices engaged in by the EC. From the allegations made by the National Democratic Congress (NDC), they are considering taking the electoral commission to the supreme court to give some explanation with evidence to the NDC before they will accept the results declared by the EC.
