GFA signs partnership agreement with Qatar Football Association

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Qatar Football Association (QFA) have signed a five-year cooperation agreement. The partnership which takes immediate effect covers technical and professional exchanges, General Management, Study and research and assistance in sports facilities. Others include Sports science, Sports medicine, Futsal, Women’s Football, Youth Football, promotional and Marketing. The two Associations will also exchange sports centres and installation for competitions, training and camps as and where possible in accordance with availability and suitability and exchange of information and material of technical and expert nature. Ghana and Qatar have also agreed to cooperate to play International friendlies between national teams ranging from Senior Men’s National teams, Men’s Olympic Teams, Senior Women’s National Teams, Youth Teams (Men and Women) and Futsal Teams. The Qatar Football Association is one of the fastest-growing Football Associations across the globe. Qatar is the reigning Asian champions and host of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. KP Boateng makes fresh revelation about Black Stars

Ghana midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng feels elated to have opted to represent Ghana at international level. The Monza SC star switched nationality to represent Ghana in 2010 having played for Germany at Youth level. Boateng appeared at his first World Cup with the Black Stars in 2010 and went on to play in the 2014 edition. The 32-year-old claims he made the best decision in his life by choosing Ghana. “I don’t feel German at all, even though I was accepted in Germany. I realized that my character and my principles didn’t suit them and vice-versa. So I made the choice to play for Ghana, and it was the best decision I ever made in my life. “I wanted to go to my country, to see my people and to get to know my roots. I’m really proud of my decision” The former AC Milan and FC Barcelona player is currently serving a suspension from the Black Stars team in what was described as misconduct. Legon Cities unveils Victorien Adebayor

Ghana Premier league side Legon cities have officially unveiled Nigerien forward Victorien Adebayor. Adebayor, a former Inter Allies player completed a loan move to the Royals months after moving to Danish club HB Koge after failing to settle at the club. He is expected to help the club in their fight against relegation. The 24-year-old was a huge figure in the domestic top flight after netting 23 goals in 27 games for Inter Allies during his two-year stint with the Club. He was the top scorer in the truncated League last season scoring 12 goals in 13 appearances. Mikel Arteta explains Partey’s substitution in Arsenal’s Europa League victory at Olympiacos

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta insists Thomas Partey‘s early substitution in the second half of their Europa League game against Olympiacos was purely tactical. Thomas Partey provided the assist as Arsenal took a 34th-minute lead through Martin Odegaard, but had to be replaced ten minutes after the break by Dani Ceballos. “No, it was all tactical decisions or things that we wanted to change in the game,” Arteta revealed. “Because I wanted to change him and bring somebody else in to try to find some other stuff and try to change the shape with the way we were playing inside,” he added. SA millionaire Motsepe elected CAF President

South African businessman Patrice Motsepe has been elected the new President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). He was elected by popular acclamation on Friday, March 12 in Rabat, Morocco as he was the sole candidate for the top job on the African continent. He replaces Dr Ahmad Ahmad, who was in 2020 handed a 5-year ban by the sport’s world governing body. Akufo Addo announced $10,000 for each Black Satellites players for winning U-20 AFCON

President Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo has announced a $10,000 reward package to each member of the national U-20 team for winning the recently ended Africa Youth Championship in Mauritania. He however was quick to add that half of the money to the players will be in cash while the remaining half will be put into an investment for the players. The President made the announcement when the team paid a courtesy call on him and to present the trophy they won to him at the seat of government this evening. The President also acknowledge the role of the technical team and announced that the coaches will each receive $5,000 for the efforts in helping Ghana clinch the title. Announcing the package Nana Addo: “We have a package for you which I am sure the GFA President, Sports Minister and your team leaders talked to you about. This is a token but it should help you receive the gratitude of the nation. It is also to tell you how happy Ghanaians are at what you have done. Each one of the team members will get $10,000 from the government, the rest of everyone will be receiving $5 as an expression of appreciation. The decision has been made that the money half of it will be in cash and the other put in investment over the next 10 years.” The Prez also made personal a donation of $5,000 to Issahaku, Danlad, Afriyie Barnieh and head Coach Zito for winning individual laurels at the tournament. Ghana’s U-20 side emerged as the champions of the just ended 2021 Africa Cup of Nations hosted in Mauritania. The Black Satellites defeated Uganda 2-0 in the finals tournament on Saturday. Mauritania referee to officiate U-20 AFCON final between Ghana and Uganda

Abdelaziz Bouh from Mauritania has been appointed for the Total U-20 Africa Cup of Nations final between Ghana and Uganda. The game will take place on Saturday, March 6, 2021 in at 20:00. Bouh will be assisted by compatriot Hamedine Diba (Assistant Referee I), Abbes Akram Zerhouni from Algeria (Assistant Referee II), Ngwa Blaise Yuven from Cameroon (Fourth Official) and Chedad from Mauritania (Assistant Referee III/VAR). GPL: Elmina Sharks beat lackluster Asante Kotoko

Kumasi Asante Kotoko lost their first game on the road this season in the Ghana Premier League against struggling Elmina Sharks at the Paa Kwasi Nduom Stadium. The porcupine warriors who have been stricken by injury worries rang changes to their squad as Wahab Adams and Mudasiru Salifu were handed starts. The game started brightly as both teams had chances to have opened the scores of the game but they wasted the opportunities that came their way. Kwame Opoku shot goalwards after beating the Sharks goalkeeper but his goal bound effort was cleared off the line by his defense. Elmina Sharks had all the chances but wasted them and had about three penalty appeals waved away by the center referee. When the second half began, they made their dominance count as Alhaji Mustapha ghosted past left back Imoro Ibrahim before slotting home in the 55th minute to open the scores. Kotoko pressed for the elusive equalizer which never arrived as they wasted opportunities which came their way. It was the first game for former Ghana and Kotoko player Nii Odartey Lamptey who was appointed interim coach of the club last week after Sharks dissolved their technical team. Bayer Leverkusen’s Timothy Fosu-Mensah ruled out of the season with a SERIOUS injury

Timothy Fosu-Mensah’s season at Bayer Leverkusen is well and truly over after suffering a serious injury at the weekend. The 23-year-old defender suffered an ACL tear during Sunday’s Bundesliga match against Freiburg. The Ghana-born Dutchman ruptured a cruciate ligament in his right knee and will require a surgery to correct the setback. He now faces a battle to play against in 2021 which has seen his former Man United teammates take to social media to wish him well. ” It’s a hard blow for Timothy. We will do everything to support him and to return as soon as possible with his colleagues ”, said Simon Rolfes, the sporting director of Bayer Leverkusen. The right-back has slotted in well at the club, impressing so far since joining. But he is faces a long battle in the treatment room after suffering the serious injury at the weekend- which means his campaign is over and now faces the road back to fitness. Kwadwo Asamoah becomes third Ghanaian player to play for Serie A side Cagliari

Kwadwo Asamoah became the third Ghanaian to play for Cagliari in the Serie A on Sunday. The 31-year old joins Alfred Duncan, Godfred Donsah as the only three Ghanaians to play in the club’s history. Asamoah joined the club in the January transfer window on a free transfer. He made his debut for the rossoblù club against Crotone which they won 2-0. The former Juventus wing-back replaced Joao Pedro in the 77th minute after Cagliari had a man sent off.
