Why THREE big Ghanaian coaches rejected Hearts of Oak

Hearts of Oak are struggling to attract a big-name coach after the unexpected exit of Kosta Papic two weeks ago. GHANASoccernet.com understands Maxwell Konadu, Ibrahim Tanko and Yaw Acheampong has turned down offers to replace the Serbian in the dugout. These three top coaches are concerned about the rampant dismissal of coaches by the club’s board who have come under pressure. The headhunted coaches are not enthused about the club’s signings in the offseason. Also, they dread inference by the board in player selection which was cited as the chief reason for Papic’s exit-but that has been quashed by board member Vincent Sowah Odotei. Konadu has been available since his dismissal by Asante Kotoko and Acheampong also expected to leave Elmina Sharks. Tanko, former Black Stars assistant coach and Black Meteors head coach, has been unattached since returning from the 2019 CAF U23 Cup of Nations in Egypt. In 11 years, the Togbe Afede XIV-led board have fired 22 coaches including Paa Kwesi Fabian and the late Yusif Abubakar. The rest are Nebojsa Vucicevic, Shaibu Tanko, CK Akunnor, Ben Adjei, David Duncan, Mohammed and the late Herbert Addo. Others are Eddie Ansah, Can Vanli, Kenichi Yatsuhashi, Sergio Traguil, Yaw Preko, Henry Wellington and Frank Nuttall just to mention a few. In the interim, stop-coach Samuel Nii Noi seems to be getting the job done with two straight wins (against Ebusua Dwarfs and Liberty Professionals). Legon Cities newboy has promised more goals for the club after netting a brace in his side’s victory over Elmina Sharks on matchday 16 of the Ghana Premier League. Having joined the Royals just a week ago, the former Ashantigold attacker is making instant impact at the club, winning Man of the Match on his debut in the draw against Bechem United and scoring twice last night to earn their first win in four matches. “I am very happy to contribute once again. I want to thank my team-mates because it won’t be possible without them. I am here to score more goals and this is just the beginning,” he said after the game. Ex-AC Milan and Inter star Sulley Muntari is ready to accept a reasonable salary and sign for South African giants Kaizer Chiefs. Agent conspired with Zamalek to agree $250,000 Benjamin Acheampong settlement instead of $ 1.1m

Ghanaian forward Benjamin Acheampong has disclosed his former agent conspired with Zamalek to agree on a settlement of $250,000 instead of an amount of $1.1 million. The Court of Arbitration for Sport had ordered the Egyptian giants to pay the ex-Kotoko attacker $1.1 million after unilaterally canceled the player’s contract during his time with the team. According to Acheampong, his former agent, a former Egypt captain Nader El Sayed falsified documents to agree a settlement of $250,000 which is just 25% of what CAS told the club to pay. Meanwhile, El Sayed, whose paperwork states he will receive 20% told the BBC the documents are both “authorised” and “official”. “The mere contention that Mr Acheampong would – two weeks after the notification of the Cas decision – suddenly authorise a third party to accept a settlement for less than 25% of the amount due is preposterous,” Roy Vermeer, the legal director at global players’ union Fifpro told the BBC. Prince Opoku Agyemang named in Medeama squad to face Eleven Wonders

Prince Opoku Agyemang has been named in the Medeama squad for the first time this season ahead of Techiman Eleven Wonders clash on Wednesday. Black Satellites goalkeeper Ibrahim Danlad has apologised for the team’s defeat to Gambia in their final group game on Monday at the Nouadibou Sports Stadium. Pressure mounting on Jose Mourinho: Four matches to save his Tottenham job

Monaco defender Badiashile confirms Man United DID bid to sign him last summer

Monaco centre back Benoit Badiashile has confirmed that Manchester United did make an offer to sign him last summer but insists he has no regrets about a transfer not materialising. The 19-year-old, who burst onto the scene two years ago for the Ligue 1 club, was reportedly subject to a bid of £22million from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in September. But France Under-21 international Badiashile believes it was the ‘right decision’ to stay at Monaco – he has since gone on to make 25 Ligue 1 appearances this season, with the club fourth in the table and six points off first-placed Lille. ‘It was the right choice [to stay at Monaco], first off is I have not enjoyed good seasons since I have been at Monaco,’ Badiashile told French outlet RMC Sport. ‘We played to stay up and so now I am really experiencing the top of the table and I think that continuing with the club that formed me was the right decision and this is being proved by the season that we are having.’ Then, when questioned about whether he had any regrets about missing out on a move to Manchester, the teenager said: ‘No, not at all.’ Badiashile made his first-team debut for Monaco at the age of 17 in a 4-0 defeat to PSG in November 2018. He has since gone on to make 70 more appearances for the principality club and is now a regular starter in Niko Kovac’s side. The Frenchman played all 90 minutes as Monaco kept a clean sheet at champions PSG on Sunday night, moving them within two points of the champions. United have been linked with a number of different centre backs in recent weeks, including the likes of Sevilla’s Jules Kounde, Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane and RB Leipzig’s Ibrahima Konate. Karonga United FC have confirmed the signing of Ghanaian defender Erick Atsigah Wallas from BeForward Wanderes on a free transfer.
