Former Hearts of Oak coach Kosta Papic has decided to keep mute over allegations levelled up against him by the club’s top hierarchy. The Serbian coach after leaving the Hearts of Oak job was accused of favouritism and sowing divisions in his team selection by Board member Dr Nyaho Tamakloe and team captain Fatawu Mohammed. Responding to the allegations levelled up against him, the Serbian coach said, “I’m not going to criticise anybody. To respond to that, I’m just going to move on. Yah, I’m going to take it like that,” . “I don’t want to respond to anybody because the things that have happened between the club, the players and me, are supposed to remain in the club. Not in public. We agreed to resign because of that issue of what I said. “I submitted my resignation, they accepted my resignation and they make me free. I’m not going to respond to what the press say because nobody actually got an interview from me [about the accusations] except you now.” Papic revealed that Black Leopards approached him if he wanted to return to the club, he accepted negotiations started while he was with Hearts of Oak as head coach. “It’s Black Leopards who approached me, I don’t know whether they had seen in the websites or something that there was some small problem in Ghana. They asked me, ‘Do you want to come back?’ I said yes and then we started to talk about that, and we waited for everything to happen in Ghana, and when that happened, I came back, told KickOff.com. Papic resigned on 15 February 2021 stating that he decided to step down as Hearts of Oak coach because of interference in his job by the club’s top hierarchy. He was appointed the technical director of Black Leopard four days time after his resignation. Asante Kotoko CEO pleads with gov’t to speed up renovation works at Baba Yara Sports Stadium
Asante Kotoko Chief Executive Officer Nana Yaw Amponsah has appealed to the government to speed up with renovation works currently ongoing at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. The Baba Yara Sports Stadium which serves as the home venue for Asante Kotoko and King Faisal has been closed down for over a year for renovation works to be carried out. The Porcupine Warriors have relocated to the Accra Sports Stadium to use the venue for their home games in the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League as well as in the CAF Inter-club competition. Nana Yaw Amponsah believes the Accra Sports Stadium hasn’t been favourable for his side in the ongoing season as the team has performed better in their away games, juxtaposing it with games played in Accra. He appealed to the government to help the team return to their traditional venue. “We all know that Accra Sports Stadium is not our home. Our home is the Baba Yara Sports Stadium”, Nana Yaw Amponsah told the media after Kotoko’s goalless draw against ES Setif in Algeria. “This time we haven’t lost any match away from the Accra Sports Stadium, which is a very good record. So we will plead with the government to help us so we can go back to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium so they should speed up with the renovation works”, he added. Asante Kotoko have a big game coming up against their arch-rivals Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday 28 February 2021. The Porcupine Warriors will be the home team in this fixture due to the adoption of the Accra Sports Stadium as their home venue in the ongoing season. They currently share the same venue with arch-rivals Hearts of Oak. Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications. Contact: 0555568093

Laryea Kingston deserves the Hearts of Oak job – Mohammed Polo
Hearts of Oak legend Mohammed Polo has backed former Ghana International Laryea Kingston to be the next head coach of the club. The Ghana Premier League giants are currently without a head coach following the mass resignation of the technical team led by Kosta Papic a week ago. The resignation was followed by protest from the fans on how the Togbe Afede Board and management were running the club. Mohammed Polo, also a former coach of the club says Laryea Kingson has the experience and skills to manage the club when given the opportunity and support. “Laryea has tasted football before so he has the requisite skills and experience to become a good manager”, he told Light FM. “This is an opportunity for him to be successful as a young manager. Grinding success at Hearts or Kotoko will certainly make you so let’s see what he brings on board”, he added. Hearts of Oak fans have demanded the Board to only appoint a local coach for the club. The team is currently being coached by Samuel Nii Noi, the youth team coach for Hearts of Oak and assisted by former Black Stars goalkeeper Richard Kingston. Hearts ended their four-game winless run on Sunday against Ebusua Dwarfs at the Accra Sports Stadium on matchday 15. A brace from Victor Aidoo and Isaac Mensah ensured Hearts of Oak handed Ebusua Dwarfs their first defeat against an Accra-based side in the ongoing campaign The Phobians will lock horns with their bitterest rivals Asante Kotoko on matchday 16 at the Accra Sports Stadium this weekend. Ajax coach Erik ten Hag laps up Mohammed Kudus return to top form
Ajax coach Erik ten Hag believes Mohammed Kudus is on the verge of recapturing his nerve after scoring on his return to the starting line-up. The 20-year-old played for one hour and found the back of the net at the Johan Cruyff Arena in the 4-2 win over Sparta Rotterdam. It was his second goal in the Eredivisie. Kudus has now fully recovered from the serious knee injury that kept him out of action for about four months. “His goal was fantastic. In the beginning, he had to look for his position a bit, but I think he played well,” ten Hag said in his post-match interview. ”He has been away for a long time. He can use this match to get one step further.” Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications. Contact: 0555568093

Military to be deployed at Stadia to enforce COVID-19 protocols
The National Sports Authority has stated that it will deploy military men to ensure fans adhere to covid 19 protocols at the Accra sports stadium and other stadia across the country during league games. This development comes on the back of fans breaching Covid -19 protocols during Hearts of Oak’s match week 11 fixture against city rivals Accra Great Olympics. The Phobians will be playing some games behind closed doors after allowing more than the required number of fans access to the venue. The Rainbow club have also been hauled before the Ghana Football Association Disciplinary Committee. Chelsea sack Frank Lampard
Frank Lampard has been sacked by Chelsea on Monday following a dismal slump in form that sees them sit ninth in the Premier League table. The players were told not to come to the training ground until Monday afternoon as Lampard becomes the 10th manager sacked during the Roman Abramovich era. Confirmation of his sacking came just before 11.30am on Monday after the club took decisive action following a torrid run of five losses in eight league games. Sunday’s win over Luton Town to advance to the fifth round of the FA Cup hasn’t proved enough to save the former midfielder from the chop. The former Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel is in prime position to replace Lampard with talks at an advanced stage. It will mean another pay-off for owner Abramovich with Lampard earning £4million a year. His contract ran until 2022. The club statement confirming the sacking read: ‘This has been a very difficult decision, and not one that the owner and the Board have taken lightly. ‘We are grateful to Frank for what he has achieved in his time as Head Coach of the Club. ‘However, recent results and performances have not met the Club’s expectations, leaving the Club mid-table without any clear path to sustained improvement. ‘There can never be a good time to part ways with a club legend such as Frank, but after lengthy deliberation and consideration it was decided a change is needed now to give the Club time to improve performances and results this season.’ Abramovich said: ‘This was a very difficult decision for the Club, not least because I have an excellent personal relationship with Frank and I have the utmost respect for him’. ‘He is a man of great integrity and has the highest of work ethics. However, under current circumstances we believe it is best to change managers. ‘On behalf of everyone at the Club, the Board and personally, I would like to thank Frank for his work as Head Coach and wish him every success in the future. ‘He is an important icon of this great club and his status here remains undiminished. He will always be warmly welcomed back at Stamford Bridge.’ A dreadful run of league form has seen the Blues lose five of their last eight Premier League matches, leaving them well out of the title picture. The slump in form led to mounting pressure on Stamford Bridge favourite Lampard. It came after Lampard said the win over Luton on Sunday would ‘bring a nice air of positivity’ to the club. He said: ‘People will look very close at the moment but I need to see a bigger picture. This was an important result because it brings a nice air of positivity to the club. We want to win more points in league. That’s where we are at. ‘It’s nice for us in the short term, the scrutiny on a club like this is normal. When you’re off it slightly the only focus should only be on changing the form. We just go again.’ Talks with Tuchel, who is a free agent following his sacking at PSG in late December, are underway with the German emerging as a prime contender to replace Lampard. RB Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann has admirers in the Blues boardroom, but there are concerns over whether he would leave his current employers mid-season. That would pave the way for Tuchel to be appointed now and he could be in charge for their home game against Wolves on Wednesday night. Chelsea have been warned off Tuchel, 47, in the past after run-ins with previous employers Borussia Dortmund and PSG but that doesn’t seem to be a factor now. Lampard was only 18 months into his time as Chelsea manager. He steered them to a fourth placed finish last season and also to the final of the FA Cup. But despite massive investment of £222million in new players, they have been unable to mount a challenge at the top of the table. The current seasons started promisingly enough, with Chelsea embarking on a 14-match unbeaten run through the autumn and making serene progress through their Champions League group.
