Competent One’ and The Competent One’ will contest the 2024 polls – Omari Wadie

Mr. Michael Omari Wadie, the immediate past third national vice chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), is of the view that the 2024 presidential election will be a contest between Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, who he considers as a competent prospect; and former President John Mahama, an incompetent politician. He explained “It is going to be a contest between the Vice President, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, who is ‘The Competent One’ and former President John Dramani Mahama, who is also ‘The Incompetent One’, He further explained on Tuesday, 18 April 2023, that the contest would be between the two politicians, who are both eyeing the presidency, and no other aspirants. According to hm, while Dr. Bawumia is incorruptible, the same cannot be said of Mr. Mahama. He said Dr. Bawumia is NPP‘s surest bet for victory as the majority of the party’s support base is clamouring for his appearance on the ballot paper as the flag bearer. “I have been to all 270 constituencies across the country and the chorus is: ‘Let Dr. Bawumia come and we will come out in our numbers to vote for him and the party to break the eight-year political jinx’. The NPP government is scared of NDC, the reason they have appointed their own people as board members to the EC—John Dramani Mahama

Former President John Dramani Mahama has said the NPP government is scared of NDC, the reason they have appointed their own people as board members to the Electoral Commission (EC). Speaking at the Nkawkaw branch and constituency executives to wrap up his 3-day tour of the Eastern Region, Mr. Mahama, who is seeking a comeback, said the NDC will train competent polling agents to police every ballot in the 2024 polls. “You have to protect the ballot boxes during the 2024 general elections and ensure that no one puts in any foreign materials. We will train you all to police the ballot boxes.” “We want the elections to be free and fair, if it’s devoid of rigging, we will definitely win by God’s grace. We will not rig the elections, so we don’t expect anyone to rig the elections.” He added: “The NPP government is scared of us, that’s why they have appointed their own people as board members to the Electoral Commission. But we will defeat them by using Azumah Nelson’s tactics,” he said. President Akufo-Addo, in line with Article 43 (1 and 2) of the 1992 Constitution, recently swore in three new members of the EC governing board on Monday, March 20. They are Rev. Akua Ofori Boateng Salima, Ahmed Tijani, and Dr. Peter Appiahene. The NDC and civil society groups have accused the new EC board members of being NPP members.
