Former President His Excellency John Dramani Mahama says, President Nana Akufo-Addo has consistently put pressure on state anti-corruption institutions by announcing clearance of appointees and companies that are under investigation for wrongdoing.” an attitude he described as an unacceptable. Apexnewsgh.com report Mr. Mahama views came as a result of the President’s defense of Akonta Mining Limited, a company owned by the Ashanti regional chairman of the President’s party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), which was investigated for illegal mining activities. Read full statement “It is unacceptable that President Nana Akufo-Addo has consistently put pressure on state anti-corruption institutions by announcing clearance of appointees and companies that are under investigation for wrongdoing. That penchant by the president to absolve his appointees and other close associates of any wrongdoing as he has done with the ongoing investigations into the operations of Akonta Mining Company is a serious dent on the already deteriorating image of the Office of the President. As though proud of that dishonourable badge, ‘the clearing agent’, Nana Akufo-Addo has yet again justified the appropriateness of his nickname with the seeming presidential exoneration of Akonta Mining, a company owned by a member of his political party (NPP) and accused of illegal gold mining in the country’s forest reserves. The shocking impudence is how and when he even did that at a public event called by the country’s catholic clergy. Fortunately, and unfortunately, we are told by the owner of Akonta Mining that the Minister has explained to him they were forced to unwillingly act against his company because of public pressure from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), CSOs and NGOs. He also very alarmingly said the President called him ostensibly to appease him over Government’s action and that the Office of Special Prosecutor cannot touch him. This is a sad commentary for a country that has in the past been held up in Africa as the poster boy for rule of law and democratic governance. This sad development also erodes the years of hard work, which have earned Ghana international appeal in climate change and sustainable development discourse globally. In addition, the President’s comment cannot be allowed to override or become a substitute for the statutory mandate granted the investigative bodies of Ghana by the Constitution. Such acts fly in the face of justice and the fight against corruption, and of course erodes the faith of our citizens in our democracy. As enjoined by our National Anthem to “cherish fearless honesty” and “resist oppressors’ rule,” we must all as citizens support the anti-corruption institutions to carry out their duties fairly and courageously without undue interference by any influences. Brogya Genfi made a U-turn from continuing court case, says the former Pres. JDM did the magic
Brogya Genfi, a defeated aspiring National Organizer of the Opposition National Democratic (NDC) in the just-ended party national congress has gently changed his decision from continuing with a court case challenging the validity of the 2022 National Youth Election of the NDC. Apexnewsgh.com report The statement says, “I was determined to pursue this matter to its logical conclusion mainly on grounds of principle and to forestall a similar occurrence in the future. But, upon the intervention of the Former President and Flag-bearer of the National Democratic Congress, H.E John Dramani Mahama, who I consider a father, I have decided to withdraw the matter from court and to abide by the outcome of the election as declared by the party”. Read his full statement For Immediate ReleaseDecember 22, 2022 PRESS STATEMENT On 13th December, 2022, I together with the TEIN President of University of Ghana, Legon and University of Professional Studies, Accra, filed a Writ of Summons challenging the validity of the 2022 National Youth Election of the NDC which I had the privilege of participating in for the position of National Youth Organizer. Pursuant to this action, the High Court Amasaman granted an Order of Interim Injunction in my favour restraining the defendants from acknowledging and/or holding the declared winner out as the National Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress. The case was premised on the fact that twenty-two (22) delegates to the National Youth Conference whose names were on the official delegates register of the party were prevented from voting in the elections, while 17 persons who were not qualified to vote in the elections were rather allowed to vote, thereby impacting the eventual outcome of the election. I was determined to pursue this matter to its logical conclusion mainly on grounds of principle and to forestall a similar occurrence in the future. But, upon the intervention of the Former President and Flag-bearer of the National Democratic Congress, H.E John Dramani Mahama, who I consider a father, I have decided to withdraw the matter from court and to abide by the outcome of the election as declared by the party. I have arrived at this decision based on my respect and reverence for H.E John Dramani Mahama and in the supreme interest of the great NDC. I sincerely wish the newly-elected leadership of the Youth Wing well and hope that they bring on board everybody irrespective of the candidate they supported in the elections for the realization of our common objective of recapturing power in 2024. To all the delegates who campaigned and/or voted for me, to all my teeming supporters and the entire rank and file of the NDC who supported me in diverse ways in this journey, I say a very big thank you. I do not take your support for granted and will never forget what you have done for me. Let’s put aside our differences, rededicate ourselves and rally together for the victory of the NDC and President John Dramani Mahama in 2024. Long live the NDC! Signed. Ghanaians facing harshest moments under Akufo-Addo – Mahama
Former President John Mahama has said Ghana is currently experiencing the harshest moment under the Fourth Republic. Narrating the alleged brutalities that characterized the 2020 elections, Mr. Mahama stated that events in the last elections were the first to have occurred under the current dispensation. “Two years ago, for the first time in the history of our country, a President and Government unleashed armed men who brutally killed eight (8) innocent Ghanaians including a child during voting and results collation.“In the last six years, Ghanaians have witnessed a reckless government that has taken a wrecking ball to our economy, leaving it in a very sorry state, rivaling some of the worst economies in the world,” the former President stated in a Facebook post-Thursday December 8, 2022.He continued: “Our dear beloved nation, Ghana, is in a worst state today than at any time in the history of the 4th Republic — high levels of corruption, hardships due to bad economic and financial policies, hungry and angry people, loss of investments, no credible reforms etc.” Mr. Mahama however has motivated Ghanaians not to throw their hands in despair adding that “we are a strong people. We are creative and innovative. The Ghanaian does not give up and we won’t give up. “On behalf of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), myself as the 2020 Presidential Candidate, I want to thank all Ghanaians who two years ago sacrificed your time and went to the polls to vote for NDC’s Parliamentary candidates and me.”The former President also commend all Ghanaians who participated in the election exercise for their help in consolidating our democracy. “I, once again, extend our sympathies to the families of all who lost their lives and to the victims of all forms of violence perpetrated by the insensitive Nana Akufo-Addo administration. “The NDC has pledged that it will investigate these state-sponsored atrocities and apply sanctions to those found culpable. We will provide appropriate compensation for those who have lost lives and limbs.” —Starrfm—

A collaborative partnership of mutual respect among the government, civil society organisations, labour unions, the private sector and key stakeholders can help Ghana out of her current economic challenges, former President John Mahama has said. At an engagement with CSOs in Accra on Tuesday, 22 November 2022, Mr Mahama said: “I daresay that together, we are in a better place to help our country out of its current socio-economic predicament”. “What is required is a partnership, collaboration, mutual respect and an understanding that governance and efforts at meeting the needs of the ordinary Ghanaian are a shared responsibility between particularly, government, civil society, the private sector, labour and other key stakeholders”, he noted. Mr Mahama lauded CSOs for transitioning from a fighting posture to now being conversational.https://googleads.g.doubleclick.net/pagead/ads?client=ca-pub-4549410436183225&output=html&h=250&slotname=4705176708&adk=1921530005&adf=3178325335&pi=t.ma~as.4705176708&w=300&lmt=1669201828&format=300×250&url=https%3A%2F%2Fmobile.classfmonline.com%2Fnews%2Fpolitics%2FTogether-we-can-come-out-of-current-socio-economic-predicament-Mahama-to-CSOs-37329&wgl=1&uach=WyJBbmRyb2lkIiwiMTEuMC4wIiwiIiwiVEVDTk8gQkU2aiIsIjEwNS4wLjUxOTUuMTM2IixbXSx0cnVlLG51bGwsIiIsW1siR29vZ2xlIENocm9tZSIsIjEwNS4wLjUxOTUuMTM2Il0sWyJOb3QpQTtCcmFuZCIsIjguMC4wLjAiXSxbIkNocm9taXVtIiwiMTA1LjAuNTE5NS4xMzYiXV0sZmFsc2Vd&dt=1669201826073&bpp=9&bdt=1692&idt=2225&shv=r20221110&mjsv=m202211150101&ptt=9&saldr=aa&abxe=1&cookie=ID%3D783012ba28970225-22c6d30de8d50033%3AT%3D1664308948%3ART%3D1664308948%3AS%3DALNI_MY9MgCyTHbcpNXKWNapqQ_5SI5U4Q&gpic=UID%3D00000aed89dc1df6%3AT%3D1664308948%3ART%3D1669194173%3AS%3DALNI_MaPA-GQfzF7WolX-6u_IbfUT_iQzA&prev_fmts=0x0%2C300x250&nras=1&correlator=2626487023407&frm=20&pv=1&ga_vid=1612813038.1664308948&ga_sid=1669201827&ga_hid=1420257593&ga_fc=1&u_tz=0&u_his=27&u_h=640&u_w=320&u_ah=640&u_aw=320&u_cd=24&u_sd=1.5&dmc=2&adx=15&ady=1555&biw=320&bih=512&scr_x=0&scr_y=0&eid=44759876%2C44759927%2C44759842%2C42531706%2C44778780%2C31070762%2C31070969&oid=2&pvsid=2525540079635782&tmod=1014817994&uas=3&nvt=1&ref=https%3A%2F%2Fmobile.classfmonline.com%2F&eae=0&fc=1920&brdim=0%2C0%2C0%2C0%2C320%2C0%2C320%2C512%2C515%2C825&vis=1&rsz=%7C%7CeEbr%7C&abl=CS&pfx=0&fu=1024&bc=31&ifi=3&uci=a!3&btvi=2&fsb=1&xpc=cg7q815Ceg&p=https%3A//mobile.classfmonline.com&dtd=2292 “There is, currently, a shift away from aggressive confrontations to constructive, civil conversations”, Mr Mahama observed, pointing out: “Normally, the engagements were confrontational with the government but now, it is more of a civil conversation, and they have also enhanced their relevance with new capacities in terms of research and data analysis, thereby serving as storehouses for alternative policy ideas”. A few days ahead of his meeting with the CSOs, Mr Mahama had urged Ghanaians to pray for his return to save the country from the current hardships. He said the hard economic times are now being reflected by the dwindling offerings in the church, and urged Christians to pray for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and him to “rescue” Ghana from the current “suffering”. At the 175th-anniversary thanksgiving service of the E.P Church in Ho, Volta Region, Mr Mahama urged Christians to be generous with the little they have since times are hard.https://googleads.g.doubleclick.net/pagead/ads?client=ca-pub-4549410436183225&output=html&h=250&slotname=4705176708&adk=1921530005&adf=3555028469&pi=t.ma~as.4705176708&w=300&lmt=1669201828&format=300×250&url=https%3A%2F%2Fmobile.classfmonline.com%2Fnews%2Fpolitics%2FTogether-we-can-come-out-of-current-socio-economic-predicament-Mahama-to-CSOs-37329&wgl=1&uach=WyJBbmRyb2lkIiwiMTEuMC4wIiwiIiwiVEVDTk8gQkU2aiIsIjEwNS4wLjUxOTUuMTM2IixbXSx0cnVlLG51bGwsIiIsW1siR29vZ2xlIENocm9tZSIsIjEwNS4wLjUxOTUuMTM2Il0sWyJOb3QpQTtCcmFuZCIsIjguMC4wLjAiXSxbIkNocm9taXVtIiwiMTA1LjAuNTE5NS4xMzYiXV0sZmFsc2Vd&dt=1669201826082&bpp=8&bdt=1702&idt=2493&shv=r20221110&mjsv=m202211150101&ptt=9&saldr=aa&abxe=1&cookie=ID%3D783012ba28970225-22c6d30de8d50033%3AT%3D1664308948%3ART%3D1664308948%3AS%3DALNI_MY9MgCyTHbcpNXKWNapqQ_5SI5U4Q&gpic=UID%3D00000aed89dc1df6%3AT%3D1664308948%3ART%3D1669194173%3AS%3DALNI_MaPA-GQfzF7WolX-6u_IbfUT_iQzA&prev_fmts=0x0%2C300x250%2C300x250&nras=1&correlator=2626487023407&frm=20&pv=1&ga_vid=1612813038.1664308948&ga_sid=1669201827&ga_hid=1420257593&ga_fc=1&u_tz=0&u_his=27&u_h=640&u_w=320&u_ah=640&u_aw=320&u_cd=24&u_sd=1.5&dmc=2&adx=15&ady=2742&biw=320&bih=512&scr_x=0&scr_y=0&eid=44759876%2C44759927%2C44759842%2C42531706%2C44778780%2C31070762%2C31070969&oid=2&pvsid=2525540079635782&tmod=1014817994&uas=3&nvt=1&ref=https%3A%2F%2Fmobile.classfmonline.com%2F&eae=0&fc=1920&brdim=0%2C0%2C0%2C0%2C320%2C0%2C320%2C512%2C515%2C825&vis=1&rsz=%7C%7CeEbr%7C&abl=CS&pfx=0&fu=1024&bc=31&ifi=4&uci=a!4&btvi=3&fsb=1&xpc=rd2rssuueY&p=https%3A//mobile.classfmonline.com&dtd=2652 “We must always spread Christian love, especially in this time, when money doesn’t like noise”, he told the church, stressing: “Especially, at this time when we all agree that times are hard”. “This is the time we must show our Christian charity by loving our neighbours as ourselves”, Mr Mahama urged. “And, so, whatever little you have to share, you should share with your neighbour”, he told Christians. Ghana is currently experiencing an economic crisis which President Nana Akufo-Addo has acknowledged, forcing him to address the nation on Sunday, 30 October 2022 about measures being put in place by his administration to fix the problem. Read the president’s full speech below: ADDRESS TO THE NATION BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC, NANA ADDO DANKWA AKUFO-ADDO, ON THE ECONOMY, ON SUNDAY, 30TH OCTOBER 2022. Fellow Ghanaians, good evening. Back in 2020, at the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic, I started a regular conversation with you that came to be popularly known as Fellow Ghanaians. It was a time of great fear of the unknown, and the entire world felt at risk. I came into your homes regularly to tell you what the experts were discovering about the virus, and what we should do. Now that we have seen the worst of the COVID-19, I can tell you that there were moments during those times when I was distraught, there were moments when I was in despair about the apparent inadequacy of our health facilities, and there were moments when I wondered if the dire predictions made about dead bodies on our streets would truly happen. But I knew that I owed it to all of us that, as your president, I had to hold my nerve, show leadership and take us out of the crisis. With your help and support, and the great mercies of the Almighty, we can say that we emerged from the ravages of the pandemic with one of the lowest mortality rates globally. In fact, Ghana’s handling of the pandemic won universal acclaim. We could all see in real time the devastation that was being wreaked on economies during the pandemic, but I doubt that anyone imagined the extent of the damage. Our economy, here in Ghana, like many, many others around the globe, was thrown into turmoil. When I said, at the height of the COVID pandemic, that we knew what to do to bring the economy back to life, but not how to bring people back to life, it was not said in jest. We had done it before, and we were on course to doing it again. Ghana’s economy grew by a remarkable 5.4% in 2021, signifying a strong recovery from the 0.5% growth recorded the previous year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, in the last quarter of 2021, our economy grew at seven percent (7%), only for the Russian invasion of Ukraine in the first quarter of this year to aggravate the effects of COVID-19, and plunge the global economy into even greater turmoil from which it has not yet recovered. The whole world has been taken aback by the speed with which inflation has eaten away people’s incomes. Economies, big and small, have experienced, over this year alone, the highest rise in cost of living over a generation; the highest rise in government borrowing in over fifty

Public funding for the construction of the National Cathedral project ‘must stop’ –John Dramani Mahama
Former President John Dramani Mahama has warned that the ongoing public funding for the construction of the National Cathedral project ‘must stop’ especially at this critical time. Apexnewsgh.com report Mr. Mahama said Being a Christian himself, and deeply appreciative of the centrality of God in nation building, he agree with most Ghanaians who believe that the project cannot constitute a top priority of government at this moment. The former President posted his write up below on his Facebook wall on Sunday November 6, 2022 The public funding of the national cathedral, particularly at this time, must stop. Being a Christian myself, and deeply appreciative of the centrality of God in nation building, I agree with most Ghanaians who believe that the project cannot constitute a top priority of government at this moment, warranting further injection of scarce public funds. Because of the non-transparency of the processes and procurements associated with the project, I believe that the cathedral project should be subjected to a value for money audit in other to open the way for believers who wish to contribute to its construction to do so. Mahama struggling to accept defeat—Akufo Addo
According to President Akufo-Addo the recent criticisms of his government by former President John Mahama is a pure indication that the Mr. Mahama is still struggling to accept his defeat in the 2020 presidential election. Speaking in an interview on a Ho-based radio station to wrap up his two-day tour of the Volta Region, President Akufo-Addo noted that Mr Mahama is still confused about his defeat and has lost control of his comments against the government. President John Mahama, while addressing a gathering of chiefs and people at the 2022 edition of the Asogli Yam Festival in the Volta Region, said the government has lost the fight against corruption. “This government, the NPP government has completely lost control of the fight against corruption. President Akufo-Addo in his inaugural address promised to protect the public purse. “Today even that public purse cannot be found. The revelations in the Auditor-General’s report for 2021 is simply a microcosm of the real extent of the seeming institutionalisation of corruption under this administration,” Mr Mahama said. But President Akufo-Addo stressed that Mr Mahama is still distressed by the margin with which he lost the 2016 and 2020 general elections. He said contrary to the claims of Mr Mahama, his government is “confident in our ability to master the situation and bring our country back again.” “Mr Mahama still has not been able to assimilate his defeat twice to the man who he had said could never come to power in Ghana and I think every night when he goes to bed, he is confused about the man who has not just come back but given him a good whipping on two separate occasions. We won the landslide in 2016 and again decisive margin in 2020. He has never gotten the figures that I have gotten in elections in Ghana, he knows,” President Akufo-Addo said. According to President Akufo-Addo, Mr Mahama and the NDC are aware of his government’s achievements, hence, should avoid their sheer criticisms. “He knows that significant progress and achievements have been made and that it is necessary for him and his supporters to denigrate that exercise, to go out of their way and to poo-poo everything that we have done,” he added. The former President has told blatant lies– Richard Ahiagbah
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has responded to former President John Dramani Mahama for his pronouncement that the government has not given him all his privileges as an ex-President. Richard Ahiagbah, the Communications Director of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), disagrees with Former President Mahama he says, President Akufo-Addo government has been providing him with his privileges. Addressing the media at a press conference in Accra, Mr. Ahiagbah said: “The former President has told blatant lies. We have assembled relevant documents that prove that the former President lied and that, contrary to his claims, he has been indeed been enjoying privileges due him.” “We did not want to share these private documents with the public, but they are already out there, so we will share them.” Former President John Mahama has said he does not receive any financial benefits beyond what he is due. “I receive only my monthly pension, like President Kufuor or President Rawlings was receiving until he died. That is all I get,” he said. “I pay the electricity bill for my house, for my office. I pay the water bill for my house and my office. I live in my own accommodation so the state does not pay me anything for accommodation,” he said in an interview on TV3.He also tabled fuel, medical bills, domestic staff, and flight tickets among the list of tabs he foots himself. John Mahama added that the only lump sum received was “GH¢230,000 as salary arrears in 2013.” “Normally when you leave, they approve what should be done for you, but it is not being done for me,” he added. This statement comes on the back of comments by a section of the public that he is living from the same monetary benefits he speaks against regarding Article 71 Office holders. One of which is the administrative New Patriotic Party’s Kwame Baffoe Abronye Bono Regions chairman, who argued that Mahama has received millions in ex-gratia payments.
