Business Mogul Macdan And Experts Share Insights On Transformation Of The SME Space Through Digitalisation

MTN Ghana has hosted seasoned business professionals in the SME and digital space as they shared valuable insights on how SMEs in Ghana and Africa can grow their businesses through the digitalisation of their operations. Speaking on the theme Accelerating SME Growth and Development, business mogul Dr. Daniel McKorley CEO of MacDan Group, Digital Expert, Eric Osiakwan Managing Partner of Chanzo Capital and Mariam Kaleem Agyeman-Buahin, Head of Digital Marketing at Letshego shared experiences in their specific industries. The session was held as part of a six-month SME campaign being run by MTN Business. Dr. Daniel McKorley indicated that going digital required a deliberate and insistent approach to changing operational efficiency especially within the value chain. He said, “digitalizing processes encourage honesty because technology does not lie”.  He admonished entrepreneurs to avoid putting themselves ahead of their businesses. He encouraged them to exhibit humility and discipline in their dealings with people. Exploring the advantages of the usage of digital tools, he said, “digitalization has helped to close gaps which could lead to fraud”. It is easier to track and monitor activities and items through digital channels than through manual ones.   ‘’Digital gives us an opportunity to instantly correct issues”, he said. Discussing how businesses can start digitalising their operations, the Head of Digital Marketing at Letshego Ghana Savings and Loans Plc”, Mariam Kaleem Agyeman-Buahin indicated that businesses need to do an experiment of the digital process with their employees to get them to understand the process. She advised businesses to be strategic and decide on which areas of their businesses they want to digitalise. She encouraged SMEs to embrace and embed digital tools in their operations and partner with other companies that can help them deliver better services. Eric Osiakwan who is a Managing Partner of Chanzo Capital gave some interesting insights into digitalisation at the intercontinental level. According to him, for intercontinental trade network to work, businesses need digital adoption as it combats corruption, provide wider reach, and promote integrity.   He said digitalisation contributes to economic growth and as a result, governments need to create the enabling environment, incentives, and policy framework for innovation to thrive.  He said, these are critical in attracting investors. He concluded with the hope that Africa’s digital youth will create a new Africa that will grow to dominate the world. Africa CDC and MTN accelerate fight against COVID-19 with “One More Push” campaign

The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) and pan-African operator MTN Group today launched a joint campaign – “One More Push” – to encourage people across the continent to not give up in the fight against COVID-19, and to continue to wear their masks, wash their hands and practice social distancing. “With third and fourth waves of COVID-19 sweeping across parts of Africa, we cannot overstate the importance of everyone doing their best right now to keep the virus at bay,” says Africa CDC Director, Dr John Nkengasong. “This campaign aims to encourage people to keep practising the preventative measures we know can limit the spread of COVID-19.” The awareness campaign is an extension of the African Union’s ‘Adapted Africa Joint Continental Strategy for COVID-19 Pandemic’ endorsed by Africa’s Health Ministers and aligned to the ‘Prevent, Monitor and Treat’ approach. It is also an extension of the partnership between the Africa CDC and MTN, which includes the rollout of COVID-19 vaccines to health workers across the continent through the Group’s US$25 million donation. “One More Push” is a renewed drive to encourage the public not to give up now. It asks that all of us keep our masks on, wash or sanitise our hands, and maintain a physical distance from each other until it is safe to no longer do so. In this way, we will be able to get back to the ‘old normal’ (or the best possible version of it) sooner rather than later. The “One More Push” campaign is about encouraging the people of Africa to remain vigilant in fighting COVID-19, at a time when we are experiencing new waves of infections, and vaccination progress towards herd immunity is still some time away for our people.” says MTN Group President and CEO Ralph Mupita, noting that MTN’s fortunes were closely tied to the health and prosperity of the continent. A key part of the campaign is onemorepushafrica.com, a digital content hub of credible and authoritative third-party content covering all things related to COVID-19. This includes facts around getting vaccinated, advice from leading healthcare bodies and medical experts, and important information from the Africa CDC. “As we continue with the distribution of vaccines across the continent, we all need to keep focused on overcoming COVID-19,” said Dr Nkengasong. “We implore all of Africa’s people to keep it up – let’s all give it one more push.” Visit onemorepushafrica.com for trustworthy content around vaccinations and the virus and to let us know what you are keeping your mask up for. MTN Foundation handover GH¢300,000 blood bank building to Cape Coast Teaching Hospital

MTN Foundation committed to improving health, education, and economic empowerment in Ghana, has presented a blood bank building to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital (CCTH). The ceremony to present the facility, meant to support effective patient care, coincided with the commemoration of World Blood Donor Day which fell on Monday, as well as MTN’s 25 years of existence in Ghana. The building has a reception, screening room, blood store room, refrigerators, a laboratory, a waiting area, and a washroom. Mr Samuel Koranteng, the Chief Corporate Officer of MTN, said the role of blood ineffective health care delivery could not be overemphasized. He indicated that the blood bank would help manage the hospital’s bloodstock which includes maintaining an inventory for each blood group, ensuring an average age of blood at the time of issue, and monitoring the amount of blood that becomes outdated. The Chief Corporate Officer said one key area his outfit was very particular with, was the sustainability and maintenance culture that would be adopted by the management of the hospital to ensure that the facility served its intended purpose. “Five years from now, when we come back to visit, we hope to meet the facility well maintained and possibly in the same state as presented to benefit generations to come” he stated. Mr Koranteng announced that the Company had rolled out several promotions as part of programmes to appreciate its customers for their commitment to the network and urged all customers to take advantage of them. Dr. Eric Kofi Ngyedu , Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Hospital, said the donation of the blood bank to the hospital was very timely and would immensely augment and improve blood donation services. He said the unacceptable rate of maternal deaths, mostly caused by post-partum hemorrhage informed the management’s decision to seek support from the MTN Foundation to help secure lives and stop all preventable deaths. Expressing gratitude, the CEO thanked MTN for what he described as ‘historic’ and promised that the hospital would take very good care of the facility for future generations to feel MTN’s generosity. Dr Leticia Lokko, a hematologist at the Hospital, outlined the importance of blood donation and stressed that safe blood was a critical resource for infants with severe anemia, pregnant women who experience postpartum hemorrhage, cases of trauma, surgeries, treatment of malaria, sickle cell disease and a host of others. She further urged the public to freely walk to the facility and willingly donate blood to help save lives and curtail all preventable deaths. —GNA Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications.
