The Upper East Regional Communication Director of the Governing New Patriotic Party Imam Issa Sanusi, has revealed, that the God’s of Bolgatanga land is not happy with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) after their demonstration. Mr. Sanusi, made this known on Tanga radio a Bolgatanga based radio station monitored by Apexnewsgh.com Wednesday morning 27 January 2021. “Every person that took part in the demonstration in Upper East, with regards to the NDC demonstration, I am sure Ayia, the God’s of the Bolga land is not happy and they must go and apologies. They have gone to burn tyres on the land, on the bay land, they burnt tyres on the street. Today, Lambon said he led a demonstration, he was part of the leaders who led the demonstration in Upper East. What were they saying? Do they say they wanted a runoff? They said former President Mahama won the elections. If I were an NDC member today, I would have demanded for an unqualified apology from these incompetent leaders”. He stressed He questioned why the leader of the NDC should ask people to die because they think former President Mahama was cheated. “Burning tyres on asphalt road, what was the intention, is there more any criminal than this? It was out of criminality that they perpetuated to the people of the Upper East. They were looking for confusion but, the people of Upper East and the NPP members show calm in such a way that we knew that they were out for something and they had nothing to show”. He pointed However, The NPP Regional Communication Director claimed a BNI officer was beaten during the NDC demonstration in the region in the name of, the BNI officer was a spy. J.J Rawlings wept before me – Abraham Lambon
The Upper East Regional Youth Organizer Abraham Lambon has revealed, that the late former Ghana President J.J Rawlings wept before him the first day they met in 2020. According to Mr. Lambon, the late former President wept before him because he felt a lot of things were going wrong in the system with the current NPP administration. He said in most of the corrupt reported cases against the former appointees of the Akufo- Bawumia led government, they were evidence, insisting that the late former President would have been wished the system could fight it “I had the opportunity of meeting with him one on one last year March 2020 and when we met, he wept before me as a former President because he felt a lot of things were going wrong in the system because they were a lot of evidence of corrupt things that were going on and he wished the system could fight it”. Asking whether Rawlings died as a happy man or Sad man for Ghana, the NDC Regional Youth Organizer said, the former President died as a happy and sad man for Ghana. “Well, he died as a happy and sad man for Ghana. Happy because he has seen that democracy in Ghana has grown under his regime But, happening after his death that President are been selected, he will be very sad in his grave because he wanted the 4th Republic to continue in perpetuity”. With ‘Break the 8’ message, NPP could turn the table to break the eight-year rule– Emmanuel Kwame Darko
In 2024, Ghana would have had a combined 32 years of democratic governance between the two major political parties in the fourth republic. The New Patriotic Party (NPP) like the National Democratic Congress (NDC) would have each done 16 years of two consecutive terms of an eight-year administration under various presidents. Unlike the NDC that has provided three presidents in 16 years, the NPP under Nana Addo in 2024 would have provided two presidents. As such, the electorates and constituents would have an inflection point to decide between the performance of NDC Administrations (1993 to 2000 and 2009 to 2016) and NPP Administrations (2001 to 2008 and 2017 to 2024). Consequently, 2024 is a focal point for NPP to break the eight-year rule by any Political Party; thus, setting a record of a 12-year NPP administration culminating in a combined 20 years of political power in the fourth republic. A feat that would be the first of its kind, and unique to any political party in our history as a country. But until that is done and given the historically trend, is natural for any political observer to forecast a defeat for an NPP administration in the 2024 Presidential General Election; however, NPP could turn the table to break the eight-year rule, set a record, hand over to itself and continue the transformational agenda beyond 2024. As such, the 2024 election is as important as the 2008, where NPP and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo were surprisingly disappointed with ‘avoidable’ defeat if the ruling NPP Government and Party Machinery were careful with their politicking. The ‘Break the 8’ is not only a message on a flyer to share or mere talk but also an actionable message that requires intended efforts to achieve. In my humble opinion, these are some of the actions that would help the NPP Government and Party to retain power in 2024 and beyond: Bottom-Top Leadership: First and foremost, to regain power in the 2024 election, it must begin in our own house (Party). The defeat of many NPP Parliamentary Candidates in the just ended 2020 general election was attributed partly to the “imposed” candidates on constituencies which might have resulted in a “skirt and blouse” result though unscientifically supported. The Party should eliminate any national and regional “imposed” directives without prior consultation with the stakeholders of the constituencies while providing the opportunities to expressed concerns. The National Executives should begin to lead from the grassroots and constituencies to the national level that ensures that they address minor concerns and long ‘unattended’ issues at their early stages to avoid uncontrollable grievances. We must be reminded that Politics is about numbers and our followers need to be listened to in addition to making informed decisions that impact their interests. Moreover, given that there were many volunteer groups that supported various initiatives to trumpet the NPP Government achievements through several mediums such as grassroots and sympathizers who directly and indirectly collaborated with constituencies, regional and national executives, the Party needs to reconsider the rampant small breakout of these groups to foster unified organization to support the government agenda. .Additionally, the National and Regional Executives must begin to repair broken relationships with Constituency and Polling Station Executives, and with grassroots, volunteer groups and abandoned Party faithful (i.e., former MMDCEs, PCs, Gov’t Appointees etc.). For NPP to retain power in 2024, their house needs to be in order and pull everyone into the vision of ‘Break the 8’. Selfless Leadership & Opportunities: It is sad to see a single Party leader seeking lucrative government position or contracts to himself or herself and abandoned Party faithful who have given all to ensure the retention of power. There is nothing wrong to seek an opportunity for yourself as a Party leader; however, such a leader should advocate for his/her followers and ensure that any opportunity is sought after for his/her constituents. Unfortunately, Party Executives are the ones hungrily seeking for government appointments. To retain power in 2024, NPP needs selfless leaders who would be passionate on the agenda to break the eight and ensure continuation of the NPP government to execute the Party’s motto “Development in Freedom” for Ghana. Meanwhile, for the 2022-2026 (year of tenure of new leaders) leadership at any level, the Party needs men and women who are selfless in discharging their roles and responsibilities without any favor, and with the apex objective to unify the grassroots and retain power for the NPP government. Furthermore, the emerging 2024 Presidential Candidate would be another focal point to “break the 8”. The candidature should be based on competency, not on wealthiness (‘buying delegates’) and popularity (‘well known’ in the Party). As such, whoever leads the Party as the Flagbearer should uphold the unity among the Party leadership and grassroot supporters. Open Playing Field: Consequently, to win the 2024, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo should avoid all temptations to endorse a candidate openly or secretly for the Party to succeed him. The Government machinery should not favor any preferred candidate which would create a vacuum of failure. The President and Party leadership should create a free and fair electoral process to elect the 2024 Flagbearer. The ‘Break the 8’ is pivotal on the process to elect the next President of the Republic and unify the Party base. It is hoped that the invisible kingmakers of the Party should not abuse their influence to intimidate potential candidates to exit from the race or talk-out interested aspirants based on experience and/or preferential ethnicity. Let the Party and Government provide an open playing field and allow a free and fair environment for those willing to lead the Party as this will enhance the NPP’s prospects to cross the eight-year limit and again deliver meritorious government to the Ghanaian people. Complete 70% Government Promises: The people of Ghana heard the 2020 promises of the NPP government and would hold the government accountable come 2024. The performance of the NPP Government would equally weigh on the sixteen-year
BREAKING: 3 Former Executives of NDC sacked, 6 suspended Indefinitely
The National Democratic Congress in the Damongo Constituency has sacked three of its former constituency and branch executives from the party. The three-Amadu Sualisu Bistarco; a former Branch Youth Organizer at Langbonto polling station, Fusheini Alhassan; a former Constituency Youth Organizer and Yussif Alhassan; a former branch executive were expelled for what the party deemed, “extreme anti-party conduct in breach of the party’s constitution”. In addition to the three that have been sacked, the party has also cracked the whip on six members consisting of former and current executives by suspending them indefinitely. In a phone interview, the Deputy Constituency Secretary of the party, Adamu Zomnura Shaibu confirmed the news and indicated that the said members have on several occasions turned down query letters served them to appear before the disciplinary committee to address the issues as prescribed by the party’s constitution. He disclosed that as contained in the recommendations of the disciplinary committee, the expelled and suspended members have on several occasions mounted campaign platforms to campaign for the NPP, engaged in open and unwarranted attacks on the person of the NDC presidential and parliamentary candidates during, before and after the just ended 2020 elections and organized meetings in support of the NPP parliamentary candidate prior to the 2020 polls. Whilst describing the action as necessary and in good faith, he cautioned members of the party to at all times endeavour to uphold the party’s constitution which runs supreme to any other interest and desist from engaging in activities that are inimical to the success of the party. The NDC in the just-ended elections lost the Damongo constituency seat to the ruling New Patriotic Party’s candidate, Lawyer Abu Jinapor. Election petition before the Supreme Court had political dimensions aside the legal—Martin Kpebu
Martin Kpebu a private legal practitioner, has revealed that the ongoing election petition before the Supreme Court is wearing a political lance aside the legal. Mr. Kpebu who spoke on Joy News PM Express programme monitored by Apexnewsgh.com, stressed that the opposition NDC, whose flagbearer John Dramani Mahama is the petitioner in the case, is selling what he described as ‘the case of a stolen verdict’. “This case is not purely a legal case; it is also very political. What I see at play here apart from the legal aspect is that NDC is seriously selling the case of a stolen verdict. Seriously selling”. He stated According to Mr. Kpebu, what is at the bottom of the election, is that EC made errors and somebody benefitted “So, what is happening is that each day as we get up and talk about this case, what is at the bottom of it (is), that the EC made some errors, and then to the layman, that somebody benefitted,” he submitted. However, the petitioners have registered some level of displeasure over a number of rulings and directions on case management issued by the court. Withdraw the petition case, we will contribute and pay the fine–NDC activist to John Mahama
Dzifa Gunu a political activist and a member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in a Facebook post has given what looks like a short and simple advise to the NDC 2020 Presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama. Mr. Gunu believes, withdrawing the petition from Supreme Court, is better than to continue, knowing that the Court has a predetermined stance on the petition brought before it. The political activist made this known through his post after the court adjourned its sitting to Tuesday January 26, 2020. He further stressed, that the court is likely to fine John Dramani Mahama for the petition withdrawal, insisting they will contribute and pay. “Dear H.E. John Dramani Mahama, they will not give you justice, please withdraw the case, the worst they will do is fine you and we will contribute and pay”. They can go to hell and rot in the devil’s fire 🔥—Koku Anyidoho fires his haters
The former Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Koku Anyidoho has said that some people want him dead. Mr. Anyidoho who celebrated his 50 years anniversary posted in a tweet captured by Apexnewsgh.com on January 18, 2021 wrote that, some persons are bitter about his existence and progress and continuous stay on earth. “They want me dead & my God continues to keep me alive so they are bitter that I have entered my Jubilee year & Jubilation where they can’t penetrate my household anymore. They think their bloody ‘borborliborbor’ King can enjoy life but Koku Anyidoho must not enjoy life. Naniama!”. He said However, in another interesting tweet, Mr. Anyidoho posted, that he reserved the right to decide who attends his birthday party. “So, do the insane urchins think their insane hatred for me, means sane minds hate me too? The more they hate me, the more people love me. I decided who to invite for my private 50th and if I did not invite them, they can go to hell and rot in the devil’s fire”. Apex court ruled against NDC 2020 presidential candidate motion for EC to….
The Supreme Court has dismissed John Dramani Mahama’s motion for Jean Mensa the EC Chairperson to accept errors in the election declaration of the December 7, 2020 general elections. Motion for leave filed by the lawyers representing NDC John Dramani Mahama in the election petition case to serve interrogatories on the Electoral Commission (EC). Mahama was seeking to compel the EC to provide answers to some questions known in legal parlance as interrogatories. In law, interrogatories are a formal set of written questions propounded by one litigant and required to be answered by an adversary in order to clarify matters of fact and help to determine in advance what facts will be presented at any trial in the case. Some of the information Mahama’s legal team led by Tsatsu Tsikata was seeking answers to included the manner in which the results of the 2020 presidential polls were transmitted and the level of involvement of the National Communications Authority (NCA) in the process. But both the lawyers for the Electoral Commission and President Nana Akufo-Addo opposed the application. They argued that John Mahama and his legal team were using the “back door” to seek further information from the EC that were not captured in their petition. Mr. Akoto Ampaw, the lawyer for the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, described the application as a “fishing expedition”. The Supreme Court in a unanimous decision dismissed the application. According to the apex court, the interrogatories were irrelevant to the case. However, it set tomorrow, Wednesday, January 20, 2021, for case management. Here is President Akufo-Addo coronavirus pandemic 22nd address full speech
Fellow Ghanaians, good evening. Before I start, let me use this opportunity to thank you all and Almighty God for enabling me to swear, for the second time, the oath of office as President of the Republic. The ceremony took place after I last spoke to you. I promise I will do my very best to live up to your expectations. I am coming into your homes tonight with some rather unpleasant news. When I delivered Update No. 21, some two weeks ago, I urged all of us to continue adhering to the enhanced hygiene and mask-wearing protocols that have served us well, and which led us to the situation where we were witnessing a gradual decline in the number of active cases. However, since that time, we have seen an upsurge in the number of active cases, from a little over nine hundred (900) to one thousand, nine hundred and twenty-four (1,924). Our COVID-19 treatment centres have gone from having zero patients to now being full because of the upsurge in infections. Particularly worrying is the fact that the Ghana Health Service is recording, on the average, two hundred (200) new cases of COVID infections daily. The number of patients requiring hospitalisation and intensive care is rising. The number of severe cases, which stood at eighteen (18) a week ago, has increased sharply to one hundred and twenty (120). Two weeks ago, there was no critical case, we now have thirty-three (33) in our treatment facilities. Again, according to statistics from the Ghana Health Service, the considerable number of persons who are severely ill are, surprisingly, relatively youthful persons, with no previous underlying health conditions. The number of confirmed deaths has increased, sadly, from three hundred and thirty-eight (338) persons to three hundred and fifty-two (352) within the period. Recent genomic sequencing undertaken by our scientists have established that some arriving passengers tested positive for new variants of COVID-19. These passengers have all been isolated. Furthermore, work is ongoing to determine the presence and extent of spread of the new variants in the general population. Detailed investigations of the cases indicate that, apart from arriving passengers at our airport who tested positive, infected persons have recent histories of attending parties, weddings, end of year office programmes, family get-togethers, and funerals. At these gatherings, most of them abandoned the use of the masks, and were engaged in actions that led to them contracting the virus. Fellow Ghanaians, at this current rate, whereby thirteen (13) out of the sixteen (16) regions have recorded active cases, our healthcare infrastructure will be overwhelmed. If this situation continues, it will severely undermine the efforts Government is making to revitalize the economy, and put our nation back onto the path of progress and prosperity, following the ravages of the pandemic. On 7th January, as I said, I swore to “dedicate myself to the service and well-being of the people of the Republic of Ghana, and to do right to all manner of persons.” It is my duty to protect lives and livelihoods. In furtherance of this, I have instructed the Inspector General of Police to direct officers, men and women of the Police Service to ensure the rigorous enforcement of the law on mask wearing at all public places and in public transport. They are also to ensure the closure of all night clubs, pubs, cinemas and beaches that may be operating in defiance of the law. They will be assisted by the other security agencies, if need be. Persons in market places, work places, and operators of public transport must conduct their activities in accordance with the hygiene and safety protocols. The wearing of masks in these places is mandatory. Regulatory agencies will undertake random checks to ensure conformity with COVID-19 rules. Should any facility or institution fail to comply with these directives, its activities will be immediately prohibited, and appropriate sanctions applied. It is important that I remind all Ghanaians that severe punishments exist on our statute books for persons breaking the law on the mandatory wearing of masks. Should anyone be arrested by the security agencies disregarding this directive, that person will be dealt with strictly in accordance with law. We do not want to go back to the days of partial lockdowns, which had a negative impact on our economy and on our way of life. But should that become necessary, i.e., should the number of active cases continue to increase at the current rate, I will have no option but to re-impose these restrictions because it is better to be safe than to be sorry. So, together, let us all ensure that we respect the protocols. Government is intensifying its strategy of enhanced 3Ts, i.e. tracing, testing and treating, to allow us identify infected persons, isolate them, and treat them. A considerable number of contact tracers are being mobilised to follow up on contacts of all who test positive. All laboratories, public and private, must supply, in real time, data on all persons tested on the common platform established by the Ghana Health Service. There will be sanctions against laboratories who fail to comply. We have also provided additional logistics, including vehicles, to the Ghana Health Service for the supervision and monitoring of asymptomatic cases being managed from home. Additionally, Government is reactivating available treatment and isolation facilities across the country in anticipation of any further increase in infections. The provision of adequate medicines, equipment, and personal protective equipment to enable health workers attend to homebased patients is being effected. Fellow Ghanaians, as our children in kindergarten, primary, junior high school, SHS 2 and SHS 3 resume school from tomorrow, I wish to reiterate that Government has taken the required steps to ensure their safety in school. Heads of institutions, as well as their teachers, have undergone the requisite orientation on “Guidelines for school re-opening during COVID-19”, to enable them assist with compliance of students to the protocols. I have been encouraged by the preparations being made by many schools, in some cases, with the
Mahama vrs Akufo-Addo: What happened at the Supreme Court on the first day of hearing
The Supreme Court sat today, January 14, 2021, for the first time, on the election petition as filed by National Democratic Congress (NDC) Flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama. The case was presided over by a seven-member panel of judges headed by the Chief Justice, Kwesi Aning Yeboah. The other members were Gertrude Torkornoo, Samuel Marful-Sau, Yaw Appau, Nii Ashie Kotey, Mariama Owusu, and Nene Abayateye Ofoe Amegatcher. The first sitting was a short one, mainly with two issues to be looked at by the court. The first was the application for live transmission of the court’s proceedings and the second, a motion filed by the petitioner, John Mahama, for an amendment of initial processes filed to the Supreme Court. The application for a live telecast of proceedings was granted by the court. Prof. Nii Kotey noted that the court had already independently considered the motion and made arrangements for same. It, therefore, concluded that the Election Petition case will be broadcast, pending the court’s considerations and arrangements. The second was a motion for the amendment of the petition filed by Mr. Mahama, which contained some errors which translated that the petition was for a rerun between the NDC candidate and the 1st Respondent; the Electoral Commission. The motion for an amendment which was moved by Legal Representative for Mr. Mahama, Tsatsu Tsikata was opposed by Counsel for the Electoral Commission; Justin Amenuvor, and Lawyers for Akufo-Addo who argued that even the motion for the amendment was fraught with errors. The reaction to this was a question from one of the sitting judges who asked if they had never made mistakes. After this, the judges retired briefly to consider the motion for amendment after which they agreed and granted. This means lawyers now have the go-ahead to make amendments to the originating processes. The court, from its decision at the first hearing on the election petition case, has given the petitioner, John Dramani Mahama and his counsels up till 4 pm today, Thursday, January 14, 2021, to file their amendments to the petition whereas the respondents; the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the Electoral Commission, were given 4 pm tomorrow, to file their amendments. The case has since been adjourned to Tuesday, January 19, 2021, for a pre-trial. At the pre-trial hearing, the court will decide on how the trial should proceed. Meanwhile, John Dramani Mahama was in court and escorted by General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, National Chair of the Party, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo and other party members. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was however not in court. Ghanaweb Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications
