Those who take you to IMF cannot break the 8–Kennedy Agyapong

The Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong has said the New Patriotic Party cannot win the 2024 elections with the same faces taking the country to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for a financial bailout. Engaging Party members at the ongoing NPP National Constituency Officers Welfare workshop at Koforidua in the Eastern Region Friday, Mr. Agyapong expressed disgust about the move by the government to seek a bailout from the IMF. “You are sitting here and you are smiling. IMF? What are we going to say again? Somebody texted me that I shouldn’t say anything about the IMF, I shouldn’t say anything about IMF? I will say it”. “Going into IMF is just like giving over power to NDC without a contest straightaway. Because the noise makes and I chew my own words back when I said NDC Went to IMF because of their mismanagement of the country or the economy”. “So, if NPP is going to IMF what am I going to say again? So, breaking the 8 is going to be tough. You cannot use the face of those who took us to IMF to break the 8, I won’t work. My message to you is simple, you cannot read my lips, and am not scared of anybody in the party, I will tell you the gospel truth.” Those who take you to IMF, those same faces cannot break the 8. A word to the wise is enough. I am very very sad today, when I saw the publication that we are going to IMF. You know, that is what Mahama was praying for and he has gotten his wish. It will not be easy, it will take hard work. So, prepare ourselves knowing there is a task ahead of us, and therefore, is only unity that will make sell through breaking the 8. The skills, competencies, and ability to provide the leadership and manage the economy–Amb Boniface Gambila

The Ghana Ambassador to Burkina Faso His Excellency Boniface Gambila has stressed, that in today’s Ghana the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has the skills, competencies, and ability to provide the leadership and manage the economy. Responding to the cry of Ghanaians with regards to hardship and high cost of living coupled with the slogan BREAK THE 8, Amb. Gambila said: “People shouldn’t be blackmailing that we can’t break the 8, that slogan breaking the 8 is saying that, if we continue to be voting in NPP for only 8 years, then we say that things are hard, let’s vote NDC for another term. Momentarily, people feel the pitch and they think that those who couldn’t do it can do it. And that is why I began by saying, if we change a government today, it will be the same. they will come and battle with it”. “But if you look through, the ability to provide the leadership and manage the economy even to the level that it is today is in NPP. The skills, the competencies are in the NPP. Because with all the global comparisons, Ghana is still standing tall, Ghana has been seen to perform well in the means of all these difficulties”. Dr. Bawumia inspect ongoing works on the 9.5km road linking Misio and Wuyima in the Mamprugu Moaduri district

As part of my visit to the North East Region I spent time to inspect ongoing works on the 9.5km road linking Misio and Wuyima in the Mamprugu Moaduri district as well as the 210 meter bridge linking Misio to Wuyima. When completed, this will shorten the three and half hours drive time from Walewale to Yagaba to forty minutes and also make it possible for commuters to travel from Walewale to Wa without going through Bolgatanga. It would also open up the vast agricultural potential of the area. The sub structures of the bridge are complete and as soon as the raining season is over the metal layovers will be latched. This is the first time after independence that any government is attempting to fix this bridge and we are grateful to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for this. The contractor (Ghacos) has done an excellent job. Apexnewsgh.com

GHS175m Nestlé plant opened by President Akufo-Addo

On Wednesday, 8th June 2022, I commissioned the GH¢175.4 million state-of-the-art plant of Nestlé Ghana, located in Tema, which is manufacturing infant cereals for the domestic market, as well as for markets in other countries in Central and West Africa. This investment by a major multinational company does not only underscore the confidence that Nestlé and its shareholders have in the Ghanaian economy, but it is also a signal to the global business community that the Ghanaian economy is recovering to its pre-COVID-19 levels. Upper East NPP Reg Organizer position, see who stand a better chance

On Friday, May 27, 2022, the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) will be electing their regional executives across the country which includes Upper East Region. In the Upper East Region, those contesting the Regional Organizer position are numbering three (3) and they are all capable of handling the position efficiently but unfortunately, the position is meant for only one individual to occupy. However, this platform has taken it upon itself to look through the chances of aspiring candidates vying for the Organizer position. AYAMGA AYINBISA PETER Is a former constituency Chairman, a former District Chief Executive (DCE), and a former NPP Bongo Constituency Member of Parliament contestant in the 2020 general election. Our interview with party members reveals that he started very and ended very ugly as a District Chief Executive, especially with the investigative report by Manasseh Azure of Forthestate.com on some activities happening in the Bongo District Assembly. That report is likely to affect his chances. There are also views like, he is too desperate for party positions. He has been the constituency Chairman, he has given the opportunity as DCE and even after his tenure ended, he contested again to retain his position which did not go well with him, he has contested the parliamentary seat in the Bongo District under the ticket of governing and NPP and unfortunately lost. And currently, he is contesting the Regional Organizers position. Some believe, that he is too desperate for power. That might go against his chances too. Some also believe some of his behavior as DCE will go against him, especially for those who think he came as DCE to accumulate wealth for himself. They said, his love for continuously collecting contract percentages from party people will be a factor against his chances. MARK AYAMGA There was nothing much said about MARK AYAMGA, but members of the party we engaged said, even though he has shown good leadership in the past in his constituency, they are confident that his time to lead will surely come but not in this current election. CHARLES TALEOG NDANBON We also gathered that Ndanbon has issues even in his own Nabdam constituency. He was one of the brains behind the controversial rejection of the current DCE Agnes Anamoo twice during her confirmation. Even though our engagement with party members reveals, that he had gone to plead for forgiveness with some party bigwigs for his regrettable attitude and misconduct, it appears some delegates are still not happy with him. Some also believe that he has not changed and that he is only pretending to be repented. However, this is the second time CHARLES TALEOG NDANBON is contesting the position. He contested the same position in the 2018 regional election and lost a few votes to Jerry Asamani who now going for the Chairmanship position. What to expect: Despite all the negative attitudes of CHARLES TALEOG NDANBON, it appears he paving his way through to victory. Per Apexnewsgh.com’s engagement with those who matter, CHARLES TALEOG NDANBON stands a better chance of winning the Regional Organizer’s position on Friday, May 27, 2022. However, according to the regional election committee of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), 325 delegates are expected to cast their votes to elect party leadership in the region. They are as follows: 17 executives from the 16 constituencies, 17 regional executives, 10 elders, 10 patrons, 15 TESCON Presidents, 3 Representatives to the national council, 1 member of Parliament, 15 TESCON NASARA and WOCON. Total 326. But out of the 326, unfortunately, one delegate won’t be allowed to vote bringing the actual expected delegates to 325. Upper East NPP Regional Secretaryship position and the candidate likely to …

For the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Regional Secretaryship position in the Upper East Region, three individuals will be battling themselves for that particular position on Friday, May 27, 2022, at Bolga GNAT Hall. Apexnewsgh.com is conducting interviews with party members who matter, to pick their views and expectation ahead of the regional party executive election. Read views gathered below: AYAMBIRE CLETUS INNOCENT Is the incumbent Regional Secretary for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Upper East Region. Party members believe, Mr. AYAMBIRE wasn’t active as a Regional Secretary. They said, his assistant rather took the opportunity of his inactiveness to position himself in party matters. That might affect deeply.   ELVIS FIGO A. AWONEKAI   Information gathered shows that some people from the BONABOTO area are not pleased with Mr. AWONEKAI, especially because of his relationship working directly with the Regional chairman instead of the Regional Secretary his direct boss. So, some of those against the Regional Chairman, are likely to turn their eyes against him too. That might be a contributing factor against him. During our engagement with party members, they were issues such as, whether were they, not the same people who put the party in such abysmal performance during the 2020 election? They said, they want a new person to occupy the seat. This might also affect the delegate’s decision. However, some party members also hold the view that Mr. AWONEKAI is too desperate for party positions. They said, after electing him the Deputy Regional Secretary in 2018, he contested the Bolgatanga Municipal District Chief Executive position and unfortunately missed the opportunity and this time, he is contesting the Regional Secretary with his current boss. It is their view that he is very desperate for party positions. This might affect his chances too. AMADU MOGTAR BAGYA Is a research member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Upper East Region, According to the few accounts gathered about Alhaji Mogtar, revealed he is liked by many. Due to his hard work to party. Meanwhile, in terms of relationships, they said, Alhaji MOGTAR, is approachable, accommodative and his relationship with party members is cordial. Even though he wasn’t part of the administration of the party and part of the decision-makers who caused the party to lose their already existing 3 Parliamentary seats. AMADU MOGTAR BAGYA, stance on NPP Navrongo Constituency matters especially during Parliamentary primaries between the late Kofi Adda and the former Upper East Regional Minister Tangoba Abayege is likely to pave way for him. Because then, he threw his weight on the side of the late Kofi Adda to become the Parliamentary candidate for the Navrongo but unfortunately, the late Kofi Adda lost the Primaries and automatically Alhaji Mogtar became enemies with the other camp. As Apexnewsgh.com writes today, those he supported then from the late Kofi Adda’s camp are those in Navrongo NPP party leadership currently. That might increase his chances of becoming the Upper East Regional Secretary. However, following the views and information gathered from party members during Apexnewsgh.com engagement with them ahead of the Friday, May 27, 2022, regional party election, AMADU MOGTAR BAGYA stands a better chance of winning the Upper East Regional secretaryship position. Please note, that these are public views gathered by Apexnewsgh.com. The platform is nonpartisan and will not be allowed to be used by any politician to achieve their parochial interest. During the constituency elections, we published our analysis and verdict after our engagement with party members and it came out 98% correct. Navrongo: Results and all you need to know about NPP constituency election

Thursday’s results of the Navrongo central constituency elected New Patriotic Party (NPP) executives have brought some interesting changes as far as leadership of the party in the area is concerned. Apexnewsgh.com report The election was initially suspended by the party after some reasonable concerns about missing names from the register were raised by some qualified delegates who believes the right thing must be done. Meanwhile, the results for the Chairmanship position came as shock to many, especially with the huge gap seen between Mr. David Samari and the incumbent chairman Anthony Kofi Mensah. Mr. David Samari just like what Arsenal did to Chelsea and Manchester United weeks ago, defeated Anthony Kofi Mensah with 420 votes, leaving only 256 of the votes to the incumbent Kofi Mensah. However, information gathered from some party members in the area indicates that the late Kofi Addah even his grave influenced delegates to choose the right executives for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Navrongo Central constituency. Below are the Navrongo NPP Constituency results CHAIRMAN 1 ANTHONY KOFI MENSAH – 256 2 DAVID SAMARI – 420. The period I most feared for my life was, incidentally, under President Kufuor’s first term–Gabby Otchere-Darko

A leading member of the governing NPP Gabby Otchere-Darko has revealed that during his time as an editor, the period he most feared for his life was, incidentally, under the leadership of President Kufuor’s first term. According to him then, the threats and actual assaults which he endured as a journalist were all from opposition activists incensed by my writings and utterances. Read his full revelation below:   As an editor of a newspaper then, the period I most feared for my life was, incidentally, under President Kufuor’s first term – the era of the repeal of the Criminal Libel Law. Significantly, however, the threats and actual assaults which I endured as a journalist were all from opposition activists incensed by my writings and utterances. My writings and comments were not necessarily defamatory, but mainly acerbic, like calling an opposition leader a “poodle” and spicing it up with a caricature. Those days my tongue was like a shredder! My written words could sting like jellyfish and, for some, my words could be as debilitating as necrotizing fasciitis. For some time then Francis Poku had me under constant armed protection. I chose not to make any noise about it at all. I endured it all quietly and continued doing my work.   Yes, the era my life was under threat as a journalist was under an NPP government. But the threats and attacks I endured were from opposition elements! How would it have been reported internationally if I had made a big deal of it? That journalists were not safe under President Kufuor? That would have been completely unfair but at least I could have been verily but mischievously cited as proof!   Thankfully, I do not remember saying many things that could easily get me into real trouble with the law. Well, there was one tricky publication of October 2003 in the paper I edited on Tony Aidoo and his immigration issues in the UK. The source of that story was authoritatively “unimpeachable.” The case had an interesting ending! What am I trying to say? Not much. Just telling a small part of my story as a troublesome journalist. That, we must forever protect the rights of journalists to speak freely. Take it as you wish! FULL SPEECH: Ghana at a Crossroads by John Dramani Mahama

Ghana at a Crossroads – A Presentation by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, Former President of the Republic of Ghana. Comrades, ladies, gentlemen, my brothers and sisters. Thank you for making time to join me, tonight, those here in person, and the millions from across our beloved country and the world, via the power of information and communication technology. Some of you may not know this but I loved and studied history all the way to university level and one of the books that absolutely enthralled me was a book titled “Makers of Civilisation.” In that book you will find many figures from the past – men and women whose names have been written in letters of gold and who have been immortalized; remembered through the ages. Some of these celebrated historical icons were artists, physicians, engineers, philosophers, military figures, kings, pastors who changed the world by boldly stepping out and challenging the status quo. In the spirit of May Day and the celebration of workers, I say Ayekoo to us all, for our continuous contribution to the success of this country and its development. Just like the past, there are many gallant workers of today whose stories would have regaled and inspired us if told. If there was ever any doubt, we know from history that you are the people who make our society and our nation what it is. We must join hands to ensure that we restore our nation on the path to prosperity and opportunity for all our people. We have always sang the first stanza of our national anthem, which asks for God’s blessings on our homeland Ghana and enjoins us to resist oppressors’ rule. Many have not taken the time to observe the second stanza of our national anthem. The lyrics bear reflection: Hail to thy name, O Ghana, To thee we make our solemn vow: Steadfast to build together, A nation strong in Unity, With our gifts of mind and strength of arm, Whether night or day, in mist or storm, In every need, whate’er the call may be, To serve thee, O Ghana, now and evermore. This stanza calls for a nation strong in unity and enjoins us with our gift of mind and strength of arm to serve our motherland Ghana, now and evermore.   This is a call to service to our motherland, a call requiring that every one of us, regardless of background, religion, ethnicity, profession, political orientation, economic status, age or gender unite while offering the gifts of our mind and strength of our arm. Sitting on the fence is not an option in nation building. History will not remember us kindly if we accept the gradual degradation of our society and do not make an attempt to inspire ourselves to make a difference in our generation. A NATION AT THE CROSSROADS Countrymen and women, Ghana our dear nation is at a Crossroads, and we must tarry a while and reflect deeply on the road that we must take. The wrong choice leads us down an easy path of chaos and destruction. The right choice would lead us up a path of prosperity and dignity, but with hard work and sacrifice. My countrymen and women, I can assure you that as our forebears did in the past, if we come together – united as one – there is no task that will be insurmountable. The future is bright if we rebuff those who seek to divide us for their personal gain, and if we open the opportunities of our country to all our citizens irrespective of ethnicity, political affiliation, age or gender. Thirty years have passed since President Jerry John Rawlings of blessed memory, appended his signature to the newly drafted Constitution of 1992, which made an irrevocable commitment to a return to democratic rule and constitutional governance. In the period preceding that moment, which set in motion what has turned out to be the most stable and enduring period of governance in our history, we have plunged from the heights of the Black Star of Africa. From the lofty ambitions of the post-independence era, to the depths of economic catastrophe, institutional decay, corruption, and despondency. Our life as a nation had been checkered with multiple governance experiments alternating between civilian and military administrations. The several starts and stops led to a situation where, by the 1980s, our circumstance seemed intractable. The economy was in complete shamble and growing negatively. There appeared no way out of the stranglehold of poverty and despair, and we teetered on the brink of national collapse. After a decade of stabilization by the then PNDC regime, which involved confronting and overcoming such problems as economic recession, hyper-inflation, prolonged droughts, devastating bush fires, shortage of basic commodities among other serious socio-economic problems, it became clear enough, that the broad masses of the Ghanaian people yearned for a return to democratic governance. Thus, began the process to fulfil their genuine aspirations through a participatory and inclusive approach. The product of that process, the 1992 constitution, ushered in the fourth republic and set us apart from our peers in the sub-region as having, perhaps, the most advanced democracy in West Africa and one of the very best in Africa. The constitution itself was a remarkable piece of work that contained elaborate provisions, which captured and guaranteed the fundamental human rights of all Ghanaians including those of speech and association. It had extensive provisions on media freedoms and offered directive principles of state policy around which governance was to be conducted. The constitution also laid down a governance framework which emphasized checks and balances with the creation of independent state institutions with clear mandates to work towards the consolidation of democratic governance and the protection of rights. And best of all, it was a constitution drawn up by the mass of our people – including teachers, nurses, fishermen, farmers, security personnel, butchers, traders, hairdressers through a consultative assembly. With democratic governance fully restored, we surged forward
