Rice farmers in Fumbisi in the Builsa South District of the Upper East Region has pleaded to government to come to their aide ahead of their harvest season. Mr. Francis Akisiba a Rice farmer at Fumbisi told Apexnewsgh.com that things would have been more easier for them as farmers, if most of the essential tool for rice farming cultivation which is known as Combine Harvester and Pickup is affordable to the farmers. According to Mr. Akisiba, the combine harvester alone cost over Ghc 1.8 Million Cedis which actually so high for the ordinary farmer to afford. “we need it at this time for farmer to harvest their rice”. He said However, admonished government to always come to their when necessary but not necessarily when the notice they can take advantage of their incapability. He sited an example with the recent flood situation witnessed in the Upper East Region few weeks ago, stressing that government should have come to purchase rice from them to donate to the victims than going round instead purchasing rice from other places. A Motorbike Rider believed to be in his 20s has been crushed to death by a speeding Tipper Truck at Mpasatia in the Atwima Nwabiagya South District of the Ashanti Region. The deceased known as Pastor died on the spot when a tipper truck ran over them on Wednesday evening September 23, 2020 at Mpasatia. The unfortunate incident has thrown residents of Mpasatia and the deceased family into a state of shock and mourning. An eyewitness Yaw Gyamfi who narrates the unfortunate incident to Pure FM’s Osei Kwadwo said the deceased met his untimely death after an attempt to overtake the tipper truck failed. Yaw Gyamfi revealed that the accident occurred as a result of speeding on the part of the okada driver and the Tipper Truck. “The deceased is a plumber who had been sent by his master. The deceased went for his friend’s motorcycle and he couldn’t return to work”. The body of the deceased has been deposited at Nkawie Government Hospital.
The allowance is not satisfactory as expected-GNMTA Women Commission
The National Executive Board (NEB) and Ghana Nurses-Midwife Trainees Association ( GNMTA) in a press statement released titled ‘THE STATEMENT ON CHRONIC INCONSISTENCIES IN THE TRAINEES ALLOWANCE PAYMENT MODULE’ on Wednesday, September 23, 2020, the trainees are demanding for improvement in payment of their outstanding allowance arrears ranging from 4 to 6 months. Speaking on A1 radio Daybreak Upper East monitored by Apexnewsgh.com, the Ghana Nurses-Midwife Trainees Association Women Commissioner Deborah Ayarigah said the restoration of the allowance is no longer satisfactory as expected. According to Deborah, most of their colleagues are left stranded, because the allowance they need to pay for their registration is not coming as expected. “We are pleading with the government to speed up with the payment of our allowance”. “How can we be happy about this, we are really hurt about this thing”.
