Cape Coast airport commitment 100% – Akufo-Addo

President Nana Akufo-Addo has said his government’s “commitment to build the Cape Coast Airport is 100%”, adding: “Work is ongoing on it and I think very soon, just as we have seen in Wa, Ho and Sunyani, Cape Coast will also get its own airport.” The president reiterated his commitment to the project when he began his 2-day working tour of the Central Region on Monday, 18 October 2021. In the lead-up to the 2020 general elections, Vice-president Mahamadu Bawumia, while cataloguing some essential details of the governing New Patriotic Party’s manifesto, revealed that the next Akufo-Addo government will build the airport and a harbour in the capital of the Central Region. Dr Bawumia told NPP supporters at the manifesto launch in Cape Coast on Saturday, 22 August 2020 that an airport and harbour are crucial for such the region, since they attract a lot of tourists. “We will accelerate our investments in roads, railways and ports. And for the people of Cape Coast, I have good news for you: we are building a new harbour in Cape Coast and a new airport in Cape Coast”, Dr Bawumia announced. “It is very critical that we do that”, he said. An airport, he explained, “makes a lot of sense in Cape Coast”. “It’s a real tourism hub”, he added. “Between Greater Accra and Kumasi and Cape Coast, you have a triangle that is really a hub of economic activities”. “It is a major growth pole if we put an airport there to drive infrastructural growth”, he promised”, the Vice-president observed. —classfm Apexnewsgh.com/Ghana/Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications. UER: Please, would you love to contest the next regional party executive election?– “It will be gross irresponsibility to want to run away”…Lawyer Anthony Anamoo

The Upper East Regional Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Lawyer Anthony Anamoo has said, it will be gross irresponsibility to want to run away when he had set an aim and couldn’t achieve it. Apexnewsgh.com reports The Regional Chairman in an Exclusive interview told Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen of Apexnews Gh that even though he still has a lot of time left for his tenure in office to come to an end and is not time for campaigns, he believes it will be a gross irresponsibility to want to run away when his aim as a leader wasn’t met in 2020 election. Lawyer Anamoo’s response came after Apexnews Gh asked whether he will be contesting the regional chairmanship position in the next regional executive internal elections which are scheduled to take effect next year 2022. this was his response, even though he was not specific by giving a direct answer to the question, but your guess is as good as NABCO initiative. “Well, you know i still have more than 8 to 9 months to go and am still on the sit and you know, you don’t start campaigning when you still have a lot of work to do. We haven’t even started the polling station election. The polling we be elected, when they are elected, they will also elect the constituency and the constituency will come and elect us. So, we still have a long way to go and this is not the time to start campaigning. But of course, we set out to achieve an aim and if you didn’t achieve it, you can’t run away just like that. It will be gross irresponsibility to want to run away, when you still have to do your best. This kind of statement that we have 3 seats and we lost it, all is on my doorstep, of course, I was the chairman at a time and this is a region that is difficult for us”. He said Chairman Anamoo also revealed that in 2019, the party consulted researchers and lecturers from various institutions across the country to assist the party by way of identifying candidates and constituencies that will secure victory for the New Patriotic Party in the 2020 general elections and some party members decided to do otherwise, which he cannot prevent them as a party chairman. He sighted Navrongo and Temapne as an example. “Look at Navrongo, we had done some research and recommended the Late Kofi Adda to go unopposed now for other reasons somebody decides to contest him. Can you prevent the person from contesting? And the person contested and won but general election, it was a calamity. Can you blame us? Our research was composed of lecturers and those who matter. I did my best to save the situation. Look at Navrongo, 2 ministers, as for board member from there, Director General of Harbor is from Navrongo as for Board Members we can count up to 10. If you go Tampane, we have the Chief Executive of Zongo Development Fund, Ghana Ambassador to the Vatican, we have Deputy YEA Chief Executive, Deputy Chief Executive NDA, we have the candidate himself who was the Deputy Attorney General and the District Chief Executive (DCE) and we as Regional Executives even mobilized money and gave to them. So, if the seat is lost, will it be fair you put out the blame at the doorstep of the region. So, I keep on saying that sometimes, something happens which is not too good but then it enables you to do something better next time”. He pointed to Apexnews Gh. Akufo-Addo hails Peace Council for roles in resolution of Dagbon Conflict, others

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has lauded the National Peace Council for the critical roles it played in the resolution of the protracted Dagbon conflict. He disclosed that the Council also intervened in the Bawku, the Alavanyo/Nkonya, Chereponi conflicts among several others to keep the peace of the country. In a speech read on his behalf by Defense Minister Dominic Nitiwul at the launch of the Peace Fund in Accra President Akufo-Addo said “I cannot but also mention the important roles the Peace Council has played in conflict interventions around the country including the Bawku, Dagbon, the Alavanyo/Nkonya, Chereponi among several others to keep the peace of the country” According to him “The Peace Council, perhaps is the only institution which has a governing board with the representation of all the faith-based organizations in the country, besides civil society and our respected traditional institution. They have the influence, the credibility and clout to change behaviour of our people” To this end, he disclosed that the launch of the fund established in section 20 of Act 818, on the theme ‘promoting national peace and cohesion through a sustainable peace Fund’ is aimed at supplementing the government’s budgetary allocation. President Akufo-Addo is optimistic that “a peaceful Ghana will produce dividends that will inure to all the people of Ghana, regardless of ethnicity, political persuasion, religion or other beliefs! We will have peace on our academic institutions, businesses and the investor community will feel safe to invest more and create the jobs and teaming youths are demanding from us, and promote Ghana’s democratic credentials in the comity of nations” Dagbon Peace Background The Committee of Eminent Chiefs, on November 16, 2018, made a declaration to bring finality to the decades-old Dagbon conflict between the Abudu and the Andani Royal families when it presented a road map to peace in the troubled kingdom to President Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House in Accra. The committee was set up by former President John Kufuor in 2002 to find a lasting solution to the protracted Dagbon chieftaincy dispute after the killing of Yaa Naa Yakubu Andani II in Yendi in March 2002. The road map gave the Abudu Royal Family two weeks to perform the funeral of Yaa Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV from December 14 to 28, 2018, after which the final funeral rites of Yaa Naa Yakubu Andani II would take place from January 4 to 18, 2019. The latter’s funeral was delayed for a week due to some misunderstanding. With the funerals of the two Yaa Naas over, the four kingmakers of Dagbon, who include Kuga-Naa Abdulai Adam and the Gushie Naa, consulted the oracles to guide them in the choice of the right candidate for the ‘Namship’ before settling on the Paramount Chief of the Savelugu Traditional Area, Yoo Naa Abukari, who was subsequently enskinned. —mynewsgh Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications. ‘Arabian king’ Akufo-Addo blown GHS10m on private jets in 3 months – NDC lawyer

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been accused by a lawyer belonging to the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Godwin Edudzi Tameklo, of spending some GHS10million of taxpayers’ money on private jets for his foreign trips within the past three months alone. Mr Tameklo says the president is living in luxury while the masses wallow in abject poverty. The president, in his view, is living like an Arabian king in his second term. He accused the president of pugging his ears with cotton buds so he would not hear the outrage of the masses as far as his private jet rentals are concerned. “As the president continues to rent these expensive private jets, the salaries of public sector workers have been increased by a paltry four per cent”, Mr Tameklo said, adding that people now jokingly refer to public sector workers as ‘Article four per cent officeholders’. In his view, while Ghanaians have tightened their belt in the wake of the economic downturn instanced by the COVID-19 pandemic, the president is bathing in the air at a cost of 14,000 dollars an hour. Mr Tameklo was outraged that so much of the taxpayers’ money was being spent on lavish travels for the president while the country’s presidential jet sat idle. The aide to former President John Mahama said despite the president’s 2017 promise to protect the public purse, he is rather the one dissipating it. Citing another example to buttress his case, he recalled that in 2019, Mr Akufo-Addo spent GHS52million on his foreign travels alone. He told Accra-based Okay FM on Thursday, 14 October 2021 that as Ghana’s debt spirals, the president’s luxurious trips also increase. —classfm Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications. Akufo-Addo commissions Gh¢6.2 Million shoe manufacturing factory in Akuapem North District

The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on Wednesday, 6th October 2021, commissioned ‘Shoe Fabriek Ltd.’, the GH¢6.2 million shoe manufacturing company operating under Government’s 1-District-1-Factory initiative. The state-of-the-art factory is fitted with the requisite infrastructure and equipment capable of producing 800 pairs of high-quality shoes, including security boots, school shoes and casual shoes for men, women, and children, per day. According to the promoters of the project, the siting of the factory in the Akuapem North District is going to create jobs for the residents, which will help reduce rural-urban migration. Shoe Fabriek has, so far, created jobs for one hundred and forty-four (144) people in the district, and is a classic example of the import substitution programme being implemented by the Ministry of Trade and Industry, as part of the 1D1F Initiative. President Akufo-Addo congratulated the promoters of the factory, Michael Asare Bediako, Opoku Benson and Salomey Gyamfi, for supporting the industrial transformation agenda of his administration. Whilst encouraging Ghanaians institutions, such as schools, to patronize made in Ghana shoes from this factory, the President expressed gratitude to the traditional authorities and the residents of the community for their unflinching support to the company, and advised the workers to put in their best to ensure sustained growth of the company. As of September 2021, 278 1D1F projects are at various stages of implementation under the 1D1F Initiative. Out of this number, 104 are currently in operation, 150 are under construction and 24 are at the mobilization stage. one hundred and sixty-five (165) out of the 278 are new projects representing 60% whilst 113 companies are existing projects being supported, representing 40%.   In promoting the 1D1F initiative, the Akufo-Addo Government is seeking to address the youth unemployment challenge, by attracting private sector investments into the development activities of these communities. Adukrom-Nkurakan Road 30% complete The President also inspected ongoing work on the reconstruction of Nkurakan – Adukrom – Trom Junction Road. This bituminous road has not seen any major intervention for a very long, as such the road is narrow and in poor condition. The road was awarded on 23rd December 2020 to Messrs. General Construction & Development Limited, with work commencing on 19th July, 2023. It is expected that, when the road is completed, it will bring relief to both motorists and pedestrians. It will reduce vehicle operating cost and reduce travelling time and facilitate the movement of goods and services. It will also serve as alternative link to Koforidua, the regional capital when coming from Mamfe. Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications. (AUDIO) I will support whoever the party elects, my duty is to hold the balance—Akufo-Addo

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the President of the Republic of Ghana has said, his duty is to make sure there is a level playing field for all inside the New Patriotic Party (NPP) because that will enable them to ‘break the 8, Apexnewsgh.com reports According to President who spoke in an exclusive interview on Kumasi-based Pure FM with Kwame Adinkrah, he affirmed that he has no preferred choice of a candidate even though, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has a focus on agenda ‘Breaking the 8’ of which some key members in his government have shown interest of taking over from him. “My duty is to hold the balance. To make sure there’s a level playing field for all inside our party because the decision has to be the decision of the party. My thing is that whoever the party elects as the flagbearer for 2024, that person is the one I will support and God-willing if I still have strength, campaign for that person. He said, supporting someone with the same interest as others in the party will amount to nothing other than division. “I feel if an outgoing President is leaning towards x or y, it can lead to problems in the party. It’s not everyone that will agree with you so I have to keep away from that and make sure that there’s a level playing field and then we get somebody who can be loved by the party and unite the party around our program, around his leadership. That is what will help us so that we can go to the election of 2024 as a united force.” “I think that the program and the work that this government is doing is an efficient foundation and I think that we will have a message for the country. “It is the message that matters in politics and I believe we will have a strong message that we will deliver to Ghanaians in 2024 when we put it all together in terms of the various things that we are doing. I believe that it is possible. I don’t have any hesitation saying that I will work for it to happen so that the progress we have initiated can be sustained.” The President stated on Pure FM. Angry Abuakwa South NPP supporters lock up party office over MCE’s removal

There is chaos in Abuakwa South Constituency of the NPP as some angry supporters of the ruling party are protesting the removal of the Municipal Chief Executive for the Area, Kojo Ofori Safo. On Wednesday morning, the aggrieved NPP supporters locked up the party office at Akyem Apedwa and burnt flags and other paraphernalia of the party in expressing their displeasure. The supporters, clad in red armbands and holding placards with inscriptions expressing their displeasure and chanting war songs, said the people of Kyebi have hijacked all positions in Abuakwa South, leaving other communities. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, through the Local Government Minister, Dan Botwe, announced Sunday, September 19, 2021, the nomination of Akosua Asabea Annah to replace Kojo Ofori Safo, who spent two years in office as MCE for Abuakwa South. But aggrieved supporters of the party, mainly from the Akyem Apedwa community, say the MCE was removed to satisfy the parochial interest of some individuals. “We don’t want any appointment except the MCE position. We are demonstrating to tell the President that we are not happy with the nomination that he has made in Abuakwa South. Winning an election is a major contributing factor to who becomes the next President and MCE; thereby, if we have done 100 per cent of both, why must we be denied the second when the President got the first”. The disgruntled supporters said they would no longer campaign for the party in the 2024 election. “We are demonstrating to tell the President that we have ceased to work for the party. He should go and bring his family members and Okyenhene Nana Amoatia Ofori Panin to come and do the work for him since he listens and believes in them more than us. We have followed the NPP since 1992 in the constituency but have never enjoyed a single appointment since NPP was formed. We vote massively for NPP and win all polling stations.” Awo Ntiamoa, the former women organizer for NPP at Apedwa, said, “We are saddened. Apedwa votes for NPP more than Kyebi. The MCE who has been removed is from Apedwa; he spent only two years as MCE. This is not right because [when] Akufo-Addo became MP, I was very instrumental, but because I am not from Kyebi, [look at] my current situation. The Kyebi Palace put pressure on President Akufo-Addo to change the MCE a few days before the announcement of the MMDCEs. So are we making MCE position reserve for royals in Kyebi” There are seething agitations around the nomination of MDCEs in many Districts and Municipalities in the Eastern Region. However, the Eastern Regional Youth Wing of the ruling New Patriotic Party has implored all unsuccessful candidates vying for the Metropolitan and District Chief Executive positions to support those nominated by the President to help facilitate unity in development. This was contained in a statement issued by the Regional Youth Organizer Jerry Osei -Opoku on Tuesday. “To all who aspired for same but were unsuccessful, we send our admiration for your zeal and willingness to serve our Nation. We humbly implore you to offer optimum cooperation, unity, and support to the nominees to ensure a smooth approval by the respective assemblies… “The New Patriotic Party remains committed to seeing significant improvement at all levels of our Nation, and we are confident that you will perform creditably in your roles, and your tenure shall be pivotal in dispensing developmental projects and policies to the remotest locality of your area”. —Starrfm Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications.
