NDC Won’t Wait For Any Supreme Court, 2024 Will Be ‘Do Or Die’! – John Mahama

John Dramani Mahama has warned that nothing can jeopardize his zeal to be president again for the republic of Ghana. The former president who is currently on a ‘Thank You’ tour across the country said he will not be ‘fooled’ again in the next election. Speaking in an interview with Akina Radio in Techiman, Mr. Mahama said he has learnt his lessons from the previous elections. “We learn from the past so we [NDC] have learned our lessons from the 2020 election. The next elections will be won or lost at the polling station,” “If otherwise, it will be a do or die affair at the polling station. The right thing must be done. We will win our election at the polling station,” he told a ‘shocked’ presenter. Mr. Mahama, however, said his party will not seek redress from the court should there be any rigging. “We will do everything to make sure the election is transparent and fair. We don’t want to cheat them, so they shouldn’t.  We won’t wait for any Supreme Court, no!” he maintained. —Peacefmonline Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications. MMDCEs: President Akufo-Addo pointed reasons for the delay as he..

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana has stated that the long awaited list of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) will soon be released this month. “This month of September, all these matters will be resolved… in the course of this month, it will be done,” President Akufo-Addo gave the assurance during an interview with Skyypower FM in Takoradi monitored by Apexnewsgh.com. As part of his tour to the Western Region, he said necessary consultations were ongoing to select the right personalities for the various assemblies. Meanwhile President believes there is the need for broad consultations and that is what he has done. “We have set up committees at the regional and national levels to make recommendations for me.” “I have to really make sure the recommendations fit the political purposes of the government and respond to issues of competence, political suitability and all of these things.” The appointment of MMDCEs is the sole preserve of the President, per Article 243 (1) of the 1992 Constitution. At the moment, the government has been criticised for the lack of progress in appointing new MMDCEs eight months into a new administration. In January, President Akufo-Addo directed all MMDCEs to remain at post until new ones are appointed. The South Dayi MP, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, dragged the government to court over the continuous stay of MMDCEs in office eight months after a new administration came into office. According to him, President Akufo-Addo has no constitutional mandate to direct MMDCEs to remain in office in an acting capacity. Akufo-Addo appeals to NDC to reduce number of times they mention his name over scandals

President Nana Akufo-Addo has made a passionate appeal to the opposition National Democratic Congress to ‘kindly’ reduce the number of times they mention his name “Akufo-Addo this… Akufo-Addo that”, MyNewsGh.com reports. The President reportedly made the appeal through the General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia popularly known as General Mosquito, who said they have taken note of the President’s “concern”. President Akufo-Addo allegedly made the appeal in when he met Johnson Asiedu Nketiah at a funeral and the two exchanged pleasantries, whereupon the President whispered that to him, according to the latter. It was not stated clearly which funeral this incident occurred but MyNewsGh.com understands the context to have possibly been a joke the two opposing big men shared with each other to laugh. However, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah indicated that although he has a relationship with Akufo-Addo, when it comes to party work, he doesn’t compromise, revealing that numerous NDC big men and women have active links and connections to several top NPP big men and women which is not a problem. He said it is normal. Over the weekend, the NDC press conference mentioned Akufo-Addo 28 times in the course of the event. The NDC has constantly accused Akufo-Addo of corruption and nepotism. Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo will today, Friday, September 3, 2021, begin a four-day tour of the Western and Western North Regions. This will be the President’s first visit to the two Regions after the 2020 election. He is expected to interact with Chiefs and traditional leaders in the regions and cut sod for the construction of projects and commission completed ones. The President will on the first day pay a courtesy call on the Dompim Chief in his Palace and later commission the Narubizi Rubber Factory under the 1D1F in the Wassa East District. He will also call on the acting Paramount Chief of Shama at Yabiw in the Shama District, meet the Nzema Chiefs at Nzema Manle in Esiama in the Ellembelle District. —MyNewsGh Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications. African Games 2023: Akufo-Addo cuts sod for $145 million Borteyman sports complex

The President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has cut the sod for the commencement of work for the construction of the one hundred- and forty-five-million-dollar ($145 million) sports complex at Borteyman, in the Greater Accra Region, which will be used for the 2023 African Games. The Complex will be fitted with a one thousand (1,000) seater competition swimming pool, that is a 10-lane competition swimming pool; an 8-lane warm-up swimming pool; a one thousand (1,000) seater multi-purpose sports hall for basketball, badminton, boxing, table tennis and weightlifting; and a five-hundred-seater (500) temporary dome for handball, volleyball, judo, karate and taekwondo. The rest are a five (5) tennis court complex, including a one thousand-seater (1000) centre court; a 6-lane warm-up athletics track; one FIFA standard football training field; and a 6-kilometre single lane road, and a 3-kilometre double lane road. Speaking at the ceremony on Tuesday, 31st August 2021, at Borteyman, President Akufo-Addo stated that, since the inception of the African Games in 1965, Ghana has never won a bid to host the games. “It is in light of this that I instructed the Ministry of Youth and Sports, on 8th May 2018, to prepare, bid and win the hosting rights of the 13th African Games. At the meeting of the African Union’s Specialized Technical Committee on Youth, Culture and Sports in Algiers, capital of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, on Thursday, 25th October 2018, our bid was endorsed, and Ghana was officially declared host of the 13th edition of the Games. COVID-19 notwithstanding, I am confident that Ghana will organize the best ever African Games in history,” he said. With Government determined to bring back the glory days of Ghanaian sports, in athletics, boxing, football and table tennis, the President explained that “the provision of the requisite infrastructure, to this end, is critical if our nation is to regain its pride of place in sports on the continent and in the world”. The President continued, “Hosting the 13th African Games will afford Ghana the opportunity to address capacity deficiencies, by providing the relevant human resource capacity to run and manage sports in Ghana. Most importantly, this will give us state-of-the-art sporting facilities, that will support the development of sports”. He also announced that the 2023 African Games will be a very special landmark games in the annals of the African Games, as it will, for the first time, serve as the qualifiers for the participation of African countries in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. With the onset of COVID-19 delaying the start of the Project by a year, President Akufo-Addo explained that Government has decided to act on a proposal from the Ministry of Youth and Sports to adopt a hybrid system of facility development, where upgrade existing infrastructure in Accra, to supplement new ones to be built here in Borteyman for the Games. He stated that the initial plan of Government was to construct all the sports facilities for the African Games on this 100-acre plot of land, released to the Ministry of Youth and Sports by the University of Ghana. The project was to comprise a fifty thousand (50,000) capacity Olympic Stadium Complex for the opening and closing ceremonies, as well as for the athletic and football competitions. However, the period lost due to COVID-19 has made it impossible to construct the Olympic Stadium Complex in time for the African Games in 2023. “In place of the Olympic Stadium Complex here at Borteyman, the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, which was abandoned during the eight years of NDC rule from 2009 to 2017, will be upgraded to international standards for some events for the African Games. I say a big thank you to the acting Vice Chancellor and management of the University of Ghana for this opportunity,” he said. Following the completion of the games, he stated that the tendency of sporting infrastructure becoming ‘white elephants’ is high, stressing further that these facilities eventually deteriorate, either due to lack of maintenance or underutilisation. “That is why the model we have adopted for this Games is a framework of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the University of Ghana and the University for Development Studies, to be involved in managing and maintaining the facilities to ensure sustainability and continuity,” he added. These, the President said, “for us, are the best legacies for the games to justify the total investment of one hundred and ninety-five million dollars ($195 million), and ensure sustainability well into the future. The initial phase of the development here, in Borteyman, is one hundred and forty-five million dollars ($145 million).” He expressed the gratitude of Government and people of Ghana to the African Union for honouring Ghana with the right to host and organise the 13th African Games in 2023. “I assure the African Union that Ghana is ready, willing and able to host the most successful and most memorable of African Games. I also thank all Members of Parliament for seeing the hosting of the African Games in Ghana as a national project, and for working expeditiously on all matters concerning the African Games Project that came to the House,” President Akufo-Addo said. —Daily Mail GH Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications. “We shall work, to take Ghana to where she deserves to be–Prez Akufo-Addo to….

President of the Republic of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has defined Ghana’s relations with Germany as being “of utmost importance”, as the West African nation is determined to participate fully in the global market place not on the basis of the exports of raw materials, but on the basis of the exports of things the country makes. President Akufo-Addo further said, “we, in Ghana, are drawing inspiration from the success stories of North Rhine-Westphalia and Germany, because, likewise, we want to build a progressive and prosperous country.” Citing from the oft-cited African proverb, which says, ‘if you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together’, the president stated that “we have resolved to walk hand-in-hand with North Rhine-Westphalia and Germany because we desire to walk far, especially as we share attachments to common values of respect for individual liberties and human rights, of respect for the rule of law, and of respect for the principles of democratic accountability.” However, speaking on Monday 23 August 2021, when he delivered a speech in Dusseldorf, in the Federal Republic of Germany, as part at the 75th anniversary celebrations of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany’s number one industrial region and most populous state. “The recent establishment of a Volkswagen assembly plant in Accra is a welcome development, and we are encouraged by the fact that more and more German companies have expressed their willingness to set-up shop in Ghana,” he said. President Akufo-Addo said, Ghana’s second priority is to increase trade and investment co-operation. Ghana’s second priority, President Akufo-Addo said, is to increase trade and investment co-operation, because it is one of the ways the country can develop healthy, economic relations with North Rhine-Westphalia and Germany, and, indeed, with the rest of the world, thereby helping put Ghanaian products at the high end of the global value chain, and create jobs for the teeming masses of Ghanaian youths. “Thirdly, Ghana and Germany must co-operate in ensuring the promotion of transparent and inclusive policy and decision-making processes at local, national, regional, continental and global levels. This would include, recognizing as key stakeholders, the State to help provide direction and facilitation; the private sector to drive the creation and management of markets, agriculture, industry and decent jobs; and civil society to help ensure accountability within the body politic,” he said. “with Germany, with North Rhine-Westphalia at her centre, to our mutual advantage. We do want to, and we shall work, to take Ghana to where she deserves to be, a prosperous and dynamic member of the world community, which is neither victim nor pawn of the world order.” “I am certain many moved on in search of greener pastures elsewhere, and I am equally certain that many more stayed to help in the rebuilding efforts that followed on from 1946. The ‘founding residents’ of this State will be proud of the transformation that has taken place here since those difficult, dramatic days,” he said. “These laudable accolades did not happen by chance. It took creativity, determination, enterprise, hard work and innovation, and credit for this goes to successive generations of North Rhine-Westphalians and their leaders”. I’ve reduced Mahama’s 15% inflation to 7.9%, fixed his ‘unbalanced’, ‘tipping point’ economy – Akufo-Addo

President Nana Akufo-Addo has said his government has been able to reduce inflation to 7.9 per cent from the 15 per cent he inherited from the Mahama administration in 2017. Justifying the banking and financial sector clean-up exercise after swearing in the new board of directors of the Bank of Ghana at the Jubilee House on Friday, 20 August 2021, the president remarked: “Probably the most difficult problem my government met when coming into office, was the state of the banking and financial sector”. According to him, “many of our banks were in distress and have been kept on unsustainable and artificial life support by the central bank”. “The supervisory agencies, were, unfortunately, not performing their duties which allowed weak governance and management structures of many banks, to fester”, he observed. In the president’s estimation, “we were in a desperate situation and urgent, radical measures had to be taken to prevent the collapse of the entire financial and banking sector with consequences too dire to contemplate”. “The Bank of Ghana, under a new leadership, intervened and restored sanity to the sector and in the process, saved the banks involved and the funds of some 4.6 million depositors”, President Akufo-Addo said. Also, he said the government found some GHS21 billion to fund the clean-up exercise, “which has enabled a more robust financial and banking services sector to emerge the better to finance the rapid development of our nation”. Adducing further evidence to back his assertion that the clean-up exercise has been helpful to the economy, the president quoted a comment made on the subject by the World Bank’s Country Director for Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leone, Mr Pierre Laporte, in a one-on-one interview granted to the Class Morning Show on Class91.3 FM by saying: “A few days ago, the World Bank Country Director for Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leone, had this to say about the banking sector clean-up: ‘It was important that this clean-up happened. Maybe the details could have been done differently. I won’t get into that but under direction and what happened, it was important because you cannot have a financial sector that is plagued by non-performing banks, non-performing loans, institutions that have poor governance, institutions that cannot honour people’s desire to have their funds back’”. The president stressed that his predecessor left him a broken economy which he has been able to salvage. “As I intimated earlier, my government inherited, in 2017, an economy riddled with macroeconomic imbalances and a financial sector that was at the tipping point of collapse but dressed up in camouflage by unsustainable daily support from the central bank”, he noted. “We had to introduce, immediately, reforms and corrective measures to address the imbalances and restore stability”, the president said. He pointed out: “Very quickly, with the support of the Bank of Ghana, macroeconomic stability was restored, which provided a sound environment to underpin the government’s economic diversification and transformation process”. Today, he noted, “there’s clear evidence that inflation has been well-contained”. The previous board of the Bank of Ghana, the president recalled, was inaugurated in August 2017, “at a time when inflation was some 12 per cent down from the 15 per cent inherited from the Mahama era”. “And four years down the line, inflation has been well-managed and has dropped to as low as 8 per cent at the end of the second quarter of the year”, the president observed. He said “inflation is currently at 7.9 per cent at the end of July 2021 within the target band of the Bank of Ghana”. He continued: “I’m very encouraged by the many corporate governance measures that have been put in place by the Bank of Ghana to mitigate future bank failures and ensure that we have a strong banking sector that can drive the transformation agenda of the government”. “Indeed, recent policy measures introduced by the Bank, are commendable and align with the overall objective of moving Ghana to a situation beyond aid”. —classfm Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications. You have set a bad precedence, remember the table will turn one day – John Mahama to Akufo-Addo

The former President John Dramani Mahama has said, Nana Addo’s government has set a bad precedence following the closure of some radio stations that delayed in renewing their license. The former President who was on a ‘THANK YOU TOUR’ to appreciate the people of the Upper East Region for their wonderful support during the 2020 general election made the pronouncement to the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs on Tuesday, August 17, 2021. According to Mr. Mahama, the constitution guarantees freedoms, human rights, freedom of association and so many other things, freedom and independence of the media and indeed there is a whole chapter on media freedom. “Unfortunately, even when you have the best constitution you can have governments that try to bend it to be able to achieve whatever ends they have in terms of limiting our democratic rights. So today government can say that a radio station has delayed in paying its license fee and so we are shutting you down. “When I talk about it I talk about it because of the precedence it can set .Because the shoe can be on the other foot the next day, they say the stick that is used to beat Takyi, it is the same stick they will use to be Baah. So the stations you don’t like you can close them down today, when another government comes and it decides to do the same thing to the stations they don’t like too, what kind of country will we be building?”The National Communications Authority (NCA), the broadcasting and telecommunication frequency regulator in Ghana, shut down Radio Gold and Radio XYZ, both based in Accra and aligned to the main opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC). A statement issued by the NCA in Accra on May 9, 2019, said the closures were carried out in line with Regulations 65 (1) of the Electronic Communications Regulations, 2011, L. I. 1991, which states that “A person shall not use a radio frequency without authorization from the Authority.” Referring to a 2018 ruling by the Electronic Communications Tribunal on the status of FM stations with expired authorization, the NCA said “Companies whose authorizations had expired reverted to the same position as a fresh applicant,” adding that “these applications shall go through the required procedure for new FM Broadcasting Authorization.” The regulator did not mention the two stations, implying that it was a general exercise. However, only Radio XYZ and Radio Gold have been closed so far. Officials of the NCA, backed by armed police officers, stormed the premises of the radio stations to enforce the shutdown in the afternoon of May 9. This is the second time in less than two years that the regulator has flexed its muscles against “defaulting stations.” Former President Mahama stressed In September 2017, the NCA carried out a massive purge of the broadcasting industry that saw a total of 34 radio and television stations being shut down for various infractions, in the enforcement of Section 13 of the Electronics Communications Act (2009), Act 775.
