People With Mental Health Conditions Must Enjoy Equal Rights Including ‘SRHR’

The BasicNeeds-Ghana Project Coordinator Lillian Kuutiero has said, that people with health conditions must be allowed to enjoy their basic fundamental rights especially on issues regarding their Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR). The Project Coordinator made the appeal during a two-day Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights Advocacy training workshop organized for Mental Health Alliance members to broaden and deepen their understanding as Alliance Members and as well enable them to understand basic issues which affect people living with mental health conditions. “Sexual and Reproductive Health Right (SRHR), is a fundamental right for everyone including people with mental health conditions and so when we neglect them, we stigmatized them and we even ignore them their Sexual and Reproductive Health needs, that simply means we don’t want them to exist human” She lament “So, they do not attend antenatal care, skill delivery and maternal health care services. These are simply heightening the conditions and the deplorable state they found themselves.” She stressed According to Madam Kuutiero, there is an urgent need for all stakeholders to be aware that the public needs to support people with mental conditions to visit the hospital and facilities to be attended to with their Sexual and Reproductive Health needs they have. “When people get candidiasis, gonorrhea, sexual transmitted deceases, they know where to go for help, and is the same thing that applies to these people, they are taking advantage of them. Some of them are living and they don’t even know their HIV/ AIDS status, because we don’t think they are human beings.” She explained “But our Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights encourages all of us to have access to these services and also the violation, they suffer especially the minors among them, people take undue advantage of them, the public should be aware that, this is not the right thing to do. It is criminal and it is dehumanizing. So, we all owe it a responsibility to facilitate and assist them to live a dignified life. When it comes to health personnel’s, we will encourage them, they are doing well by reaching out to those in the most deplorable communities.” “We are only encouraging them, that when they get to the communities they should ask, how about those other women who have not come out, is there anyone at home, for one reason or the other we need to reach out to the person? Ask the question and people will lead you to those people.” she admonished However, stakeholders and Alliance members who participated in the 2-day SRHR advocacy workshop organized by BasicNeeds-Ghana, expressed their satisfaction to BasicNeeds for their role so far, especially in making sure people living with mental conditions enjoy a comfortable and safer life. The battle is not the Lord’s…the Lord is tired – KSM challenges Akufo-Addo

Ghanaian veteran comedian and TV personality Kwaku Sintim-Misa has challenged President Nana Akufo-Addo’s famous campaign slogan: “The battle is the Lord’s”. To the host of ‘The KSM Show’, the slogan which powered Akufo-Addo to grab the presidency in 2016, doesn’t reflect the president’s decision making. He believes the New Patriotic Party’s presidential candidate has the ‘free will’ to use his conscience to make decisions and whatever decision he makes doesn’t reflect the Lord’s. According to KSM, who is a hardcore atheist, people shouldn’t use the Lord to cover up their bad actions because they have the free will to make decisions that will make positive impacts. He revealed this in one of his tweets on Wednesday, November 25. He also stated that the outcome of the December polls ‘will be the result of our decision, whether it’s peaceful or violent is in our hands’, adding that the Lord is tired. “The battle is not the Lord’s. We have free will to use our conscience to make decisions. The decisions we make are ours not the Lord’s,” he tweeted. “The outcome of the election will be the result of our decision. Whether it’s peaceful or violent is in our hands. Lord abr3.” The tweet was met with mixed reactions. Some of his followers agreed with him, others did not. “Horses and Chariots are prepared for battle but VICTORY comes from the LORD. THE BATTLE THEREFORE IS ALWAYS THE LORD’S” Twitter user Abeiku French replied. “If the battle is for the lords. What about the corruptions made by this same government. Who is it for? Then I presume the lords to are corrupt,” Bismark Afful wrote. Another user replied: “Can’t be better than that senior citizen. Means we have to screw our heads properly on our shoulders to make informed choices that will enhance our wellbeing and safeguard our future. Thank you, sir!” “Ghanaians decide their own fate at the polls. God or Jesus won’t vote for anyone. You take stock of your life; money, education, health care, transport, policing, housing and all that concerns you and your family. Then think who will best serve a little bit of what concerns you?” user Esinam Mizen stated. Do you agree with KSM? I wanted to quit football because of Lionel Messi

Kevin-Boateng joined Barcelona from Sassuolo in January, 2019 to strengthen the Catalans after Louis Suarez had picked up an injury. However, he struggled through his six months stay and failed to register any goal for the side. The Ghanaian has revealed that sharing the same dressing room with the Argentine made him contemplate on quitting football because he realized the Barcelona ace was too good for him to play with him in the same team. “The six months at Barcelona were incredible,” Boateng told DAZN . “At first, I didn’t believe it. I thought it was Espanyol who wanted me, not the real Barcelona! “Training with Messi left me speechless. I had always said that Cristiano Ronaldo was the best in the world, but Messi is something else. He’s not normal. “While training with him, I felt inadequate for the first time in my career. He was doing incredible things. I felt like saying, ‘I’m done, I’m going to quit playing!’” Boateng has become something of a journeyman in his career, playing for teams in England, Germany, Italy and Spain. Though his career has included stops at major clubs such as Tottenham, AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona, Boateng admitted that he could have potentially accomplished more. During his stint at Spurs between 2007 and 2009 in particular, Boateng said he looked to off-field extravagances to cover up for his on-field issues. “When I was young, at Tottenham, it’s true: I bought three luxury cars in one day, but there was so much pain inside me,” he said. “I was trying to buy happiness. I wasn’t happy. I wasn’t playing. I wasn’t well and so I was looking for something else. Sure, I would change that part of my past. “Often, I trusted only my talent and, with the talent I have, without being arrogant, I could have done a lot more. Although, I have had a beautiful career anyway.” In the latter part of his career, Boateng has also focused on off-field activism, speaking out frequently against racism. Despite a host of ugly incidents across Europe recently, Boateng said that he has yet to see nearly enough change. “In football, nothing has changed since 2013,” Boateng said. “Maybe a few more fines, but nothing has changed. It’s sad. It still happens. And it happens too much. “Change comes from FIFA and UEFA. Us footballers, we’re important, we try to speak, we use social media, we use interviews, but if it doesn’t start from above, it’s difficult for us. “In 2013, I was saying, I hope that the kids in a few years don’t know what racism is, and instead they’re now hearing us talk more about it today than yesterday.”  Pulse Ghana Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications

2 police trainers sacked after impregnating 15 female police trainees

According to various media reports online, the Mozambique police authorities sent the two officers on compulsory leave before initiating investigations to ascertain how the development ensued. It came to light during investigations that trainers at the police academy have harassed women trainees into sex in order to give favourable terms. Justice Minister Helena Kida is reported as saying that a disciplinary inquiry was held against the officers involved and it’s unclear how many students the men have impregnated. “Of the cases of sexual harassment in which two instructors became involved with instructors, making them pregnant, were the object of legal-disciplinary censorship, having, in effect, been expelled from the corporation, as a culmination of the disciplinary proceedings that were instituted against them,” Minister of Justice of Mozambique, Helena Kida is quoted as saying. In a related news, a police officer is reportedly searching for his missing gun belonging to his employers after it got stolen during a one-night stand with a strange woman. The unfortunate incident happened in Kenya’s Mombasa city. According to Tuko.co.ke, Police Constable Wilfred Onsomu of Centra police station placed his pistol under the pillow while he got busy with the sex romp over the night. Interestingly, when he woke up the following morning, he could not find the gun under the pillow where he had kept it. The officer met with the woman on Sunday, November 22, and on Monday, November 23, he invited her into his house for a sleepover, the news website reported a police report as saying. Constable Wilfred Onsomu realised in the morning of Tuesday, November 24 that the woman has escaped with his gun which was loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition. “It was reported by Police Constable Wilfred Onsomu of Central Police station, that today morning of 24/11/2020 at about 5:00 am, he woke up to proceed for duties at Kenya ferry services ramp only to discover his forearm, a Ceska pistol loaded with 15 rounds of 9mm missing from its secured point under the pillow. “It was further established that the officer had brought in with him unidentified woman friend for the night of 22/23 November 2020,” police said in a report. It is further reported that the unknown woman ran away with the police officer’s KSh 4,000 and his Samsung mobile phone in addition to the weapon. Officers of the Mbaraki police command have initiated an investigation into the matter and have visited the scene too. Reports say uniformed police officers in the coastal region losing their guns to sex workers has been on the increase recently. A woman was charged a few months ago for allegedly stealing a gun from Deputy President’s bodyguard in Kisauni, Mombasa. The DP’s bodyguard picked Elsie Kazungu alias Gladly Wanjala from Mombasa’s Moi Avenue on December 19, 2019, at night and took her home. Unfortunately for the officer, Elsie reportedly stole his Ceska pistol from his pillow and later sold it to Joshua Oliech in Kisauni. Both Elsie and Joshua Oliech to whom she sold the alleged stolen gun were arrested and charged. Lies, Deceit Can’t Secure You Victory – Akufo-Addo Advises Mahama

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has described the campaign messages of former President John Mahama as “fabrications, misrepresentations, and outright lies.” “The path to the Presidency can not be realized through fabrications, misrepresentations, and outright lies, because the Ghanaian people will never accept that as a way to the office in the country,” he told an excited crowd at Swedru as part of his two-day campaign tour of the Central Region. President Akufo-Addo and his campaign team had earlier visited Buduburam, in the Gomoa East Constituency and Ewutu Senya West. Free SHS “Former President Mahama is claiming that he brought the Free SHS, is that true? How can an elder of this country lie like that?“ President Akufo-Addo quipped. He reminded the gathering that former President Mahama in 2016 described the Free SHS as a dangerous policy that had caused a lot of problems in many African countries, and wondered why the NDC presidential candidate would turn around and claim he introduced the policy in 2015. MARKO Forgetful He advised former President Mahama to bear in mind that Ghanaians were not forgetful as he assumed and that they remember the hardship he took them through during his tenure. Promises President Akufo-Addo expressed shock that the former President was going around the country making promises of what he would do if elected as President. He noted that former President Mahama was not new to the presidency and the electorate, therefore, he should render accounts of the 8 years that he was at the helm of affairs. He challenged him to tell Ghanaians what he did wrong for the voters to reject him with such a massive vote difference. Foundation President Akufo-Addo said NPP had laid the foundation for the development and progress of the country in the first term and the second term would be used to erect the house of prosperity and progress. Accounts He said four years ago he came to the people with a set of pledges to develop the country and after four years he was appearing before them to render accounts of his stewardship. He said he had fulfilled his promises stating that “I am truthful and I didn’t come to lie my way through to power so if you are satisfied with the work you gave me to add the four more years for to do more for you”. Endorsement The Omanhene of Gomoa Akyepim, Obrifo Ahunako Ahor Ankobea II, commended President Akufo-Addo for the various developmental projects and policies that his government had executed within the last four years. He said the people of Ghana had all benefited from the work of the President and that he was confident that the people would renew his mandate. Security He said because President Akufo-Addo would win the elections, he was appealing to him to establish a military base at Buduburam to support the efforts of the police in dealing with the increasing rate of crime in the area. Nana Ankobea also appealed to the President to ensure that the main Accra – Cape Coast road be expanded to curtail the disturbing nature of the traffic jam in the area. Don’t Be In A Rush To Declare Dec. 7 Results Within 24 hours – NDC Warns EC

The largest opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) has cautioned the Electoral Commission(EC) against rushing to declare results of the upcoming 7th December general election 24 hours after voting ends. The Director of Electoral Services of the Election Commission, Dr. Serebour Quaicoe, has said plans are underway to ensure there is no undue delay 24 hours after polls close. “All things being equal, we are hoping that before we go to bed on the 8th of December, we would have come out with the presidential results,” he said in an interview with Joy News. He added that just like the 2016 elections, “we will use the manual transmission” in this year’s election. “The polling stations will submit the results to the constituency, the constituency will send their results to the region and the region will fax the results to us,” he clarified. But NDC Director of Election, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah addressing a press conference in Accra on Wednesday stated any such haste to declare the results will produce unrealistic results. “What is the basis for this claim, what mechanism, structures and systems have you put in place to ensure that this claim that you’re making you’ll be able to meet without having any problems. How does it work in practical terms. An election is a process, results are declared at the polling station. Those results move from the polling station to the constituency collation centre, from the constituency collation centre you have now created another layer at the regional level. Then from the regional level to the national level. And especially for the Presidential ballot, the Electoral Commission herself is suppose to be the Chief returning officer. By this process is she saying that she’s going to see every single result from all the 275 constituencies before she makes a declaration? can’t you see the danger here. Is she going to rely on only the 16 regions? He added: “So you see they are creating another unrealistic expectation and when the day comes and by that time they are not able to what will they do, are they going to cook numbers, are they going to announce any other thing at all just because they want to meet an unrealistic 24 hour timeline, who forced them? These are the things they do and they cause problems for everybody. Nobody has put a gun to their heads. It is important to have timely results but it’s better to have accurate, truthful results that reflect what the people voted for and we’ll not take anything less than that. We need accurate results that reflect what the people have voted for not any churned out results based on any 24-hour pressure. It is completely unacceptable.” kasapafmonline.com Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications

Don’t worry EC won’t rig 2020 elections, it is just incompetent – Franklin Cudjoe

President of think tank, IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has said that claims that the Electoral Commission of Ghana intends to rig the impending election for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) are untrue. According to Mr Cudjoe, the Commission is just frighteningly incompetent and good at being evasive. “I also do not believe the Electoral Commissioners are scheming with the government. They are just frighteningly incompetent and good at being evasive,” he said in a post on Facebook. His comments come at a time that the opposition has said there is a clear indication that the government and the EC are in bed and the Commission will rig the election in favour of the governing NPP. The leader of the NDC John Dramani Mahama has consistently criticised the leadership of the Commission and have said that the Commission does not give him an assurance of handling a credible election in 2020. Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission at training for media personalities has said that it cannot rig the 2020 election and has assured the general public that it will not tamper with the outcome of the election. NDC to build ultramodern sports stadium in Bolgatanga

Mr John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential Candidate, has assured the chiefs and people of the Upper East Region that he will build an ultramodern sports stadium in Bolgatanga to promote sports. He said the next NDC government would build regional sports stadia across every region without a stadium to promote sports and wellness. Mr Mahama made the pledge on Wednesday at a community engagement with the chiefs and people of Talensi in the Upper East Region as part of his four-day campaign tour. He noted that apart from the regional sports Stadiums, mini modern sports stadia would be built in all districts to harness the sporting potentials of the youth. He said the sports potentials of the youth would be harnessed from the district to regional, national and international levels. Mr Mahama reiterated the need to harness the youth’s sporting potentials to create jobs for them. The next NDC government would provide opportunities for the youth to acquire free technical and vocational skills to enable them to go into entrepreneurship, he said. It would also implement a free National Apprenticeship Programme by establishing centres in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions in the districts to provide free apprenticeship training by certified master craftsmen/women. Mr Mahama, throughout his campaign tour, ends his message with education on voting and the requirements thereof in order to avoid spoiling the ballots. The NDC Presidential Candidate is being accompanied by Professor Joshua Alabi, the National Campaign Manager, Alhaji Sofo Azorka, a National Vice Chairman; Alhaji Mumuni Bolnaba, Upper East Regional Chairman; and Mahama Ayariga, Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, among others.
