The actor and producer published this new video on his Instagram page where he’s seen making an incoherent narrative about how some Kasoa boys beat him up. According to him, they are two groups in Kasoa; Walantu Boys and High Tension Boys adding that he loves these two groups. Jean Mensa evading cross-examination because it will expose irregularities in 2020 polls – Ayine
A member of John Mahama’s legal team, Dominic Ayine has said the cross-examination of the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa will bring to light irregularities in the 2020 general elections. Lawyers for the 1st and 2nd respondents – President, Nana Akufo-Addo and the EC respectively, on Monday, February 8, 2021, decided not to call any witnesses in the ongoing election petition case. Lead counsel for the two respondents had argued that the petitioner in the case, John Mahama did not make a solid case in court hence their decision not to open their defence or call any witnesses. Mr. Ayine on Eyewitness News, however, insisted that Jean Mensa’s should be cross-examined to expose irregularities in the election as alleged by John Mahama and the NDC. “Cross-examination will expose her for people to see that what we have said in the petition as well as what our witnesses have said is the true reflection of what really took place.” Mr. Ayine believes Jean Mensa’s cross-examination will also “elicit evidence regarding the performance of her duties as a constitutional office holder.” “She indicated in her answer and her witness statement that she performed those duties in accordance with the law. It is important for the people of this country to see through cross-examination that she was either lying or telling the truth.” Lead counsel for John Dramani Mahama, Mr. Tsatsu Tsikata had accused Jean Mensa of evading cross-examination after lawyers for the 1st and 2nd respondents had indicated that they do not intend to call witnesses. Mr. Tsikata was of the view that, among other things the respondents had given the indication during the case management stage that they were going to present a witness and that to an extent influence how the trial has gone so far hence they cannot now decide not to present any witness. But the judges sided with the respondents. Sitting was adjourned to Tuesday, February 9, 2021, where all lawyers are expected to argue out the case of the respondents’ insistence of not presenting any witness to be cross-examined. Since the 4th republic came to exist, as a country we have had the 7th council of states and very soon the 8th council of state will be ushered into office through both the electing of regional representative i.e. 16 regions because each region is to elect one rep to represent the said region. It will be an affront to justice if Jean Mensa is not cross-examined – Tsatsu Tsikata
Tsatsu Tsikata, John Dramani Mahama’s lawyer in the election petition, is livid over the refusal by the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa, to testify in the election petition hearing. According to him, it will be an affront to justice if Mrs. Mensa is not cross-examined in the ongoing case. Mr. Tsikata has been arguing to ensure that the EC Chairperson, appears in the witness box though the commission’s counsel has closed his case. “What is being put before you now is not only an affront to justice but is not in accordance with the rules of this court, and we respectfully submit that it must not be countenanced by this court,” Mr. Mahama’s lawyer said at the Supreme Court on Tuesday, February 9, 2021. Mrs. Mensa has already filed a witness statement where she denies allegations of malfeasance outlined in Mr. Mahama’s petition. Mr. Tsikata argued that Mrs. Mensa’s witness statement was one of the issues the petition was meant to address and necessitated cross-examination. One of the issues outlined by the Supreme Court for determination is whether or not the declaration of the presidential election results by EC was in violation of Article 63 (3) of the 1992 Constitution. Mr. Tsikata has also been trying to convince the justices that Mrs. Mensa’s witness statement can be considered as evidence. “By filing its witness statement, the [EC] has clearly crossed the bridge as far as opening up the witness [Jean Mensa] for cross-examining is concerned.” When asked by the court bench if Mrs. Mensa was entitled to change her mind, Mr. Tsikata said that matter “should be openly put to this court and the court may have the power to disallow this change.” In his view, there is no basis for the EC Chairperson backing down as a witness since she has already filed statements to that effect. “She has made representations to this court and other parties in this case. NDC Show Koku Anyidoho Level, as They Suspend His Party Membership

According the statement signed by the General Secretary Asiedu Nketia, the suspension comes after two separate petitions from two registered members of the NDC. The Upper East Regional Communication Director of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Issah Sanusi has responded to the NDC press conference titled “THE HEARTLESS ATTEMPT BY THE NANA ADDO`S LED ADMINISTRATION TO PERPETUATE FRAUD IN THE NOMINATION OF AN ELECTORAL COLLEGE TOWARDS THE ELECTION OF THE MEMBER OF COUNCIL OF STATE FOR THE UPPER EAST REGION. the press conference was described as ill-fated and a number of false claims spewed by the NDC Regional Secretary. It is on the basis of this constitutional injunction that Election (Regional Representative on Council of State) Instrument, 1993, C.I. 1 was promulgated. The two representatives’ names and other details are then submitted to the EC for compilation to enable to college meet on a day and time for the election. A communication from any of the Assemblies to the EC is of course proof of authority which can be acted upon as official. How the Assemblies do the nomination and the list sent to the Commission is a matter within the purview of the Assemblies. Do the Assemblies have to be in session before nomination of the two names can be submitted to the Electoral Commission? Can the nomination be done administratively? Send lower primary school children home to help curb spread – Virologist
As Coronavirus cases in schools rise, a virologist has called on the government to firmly close down pre-schools, kindergartens, and lower primary schools as a measure to control the spread. Dr. Michael Owusu of the Kumasi Center for Collaborative Research said this move will be one in the right direction, helping substantially to slow down the rate of spread in the country. “If we have to tackle schools, I don’t think that closure of all schools is necessary but we may begin by looking at the kindergarten and lower primary as it is extremely difficult to fully implement the protocol,” he said. Dr. Owusu was speaking on JoyNews Prime, reports myjoyonline.com. However, a lecturer at the Global Health Department of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Dr. John Amuasi, disagrees. In his assertion, available data in Ghana and elsewhere suggests that the virus’ spread in schools is relatively low in the scheme of things except for the known threats associated with social gathering. “For me, rather than focusing the efforts on random sampling within the schools, I will continue to trumpet the need for random sampling at the community level because this is what will allow us to measure the real rate of spread at the national level,” he said on February 1. He further explained that “If you measure the rate of spread at the school level, it does not provide significant information for decision making because these are the same people that move back home and then infect their parent, grandparents and who they meet.” Several calls have been made since schools resumed in January, for the closure of especially all classes in the lower primary level of schools, with fears that the protocols will not be properly adhered to by the children. Only yesterday, reports from the Akosombo International School showed that some 79 people (74 students and 5 staff) had contracted the virus. Currently, Ghana has a total of 72,328 confirmed cases after conducting 805,652 tests since the virus first entered the country in mid-March 2020. Musician stabbed to death by colleague
One of the finest dancehall artistes in Cape Coast by name Emmanuel Aikins, 28, known in music circles as ‘Unruly Crank’ has met his untimely death after he was stabbed by his colleague dancehall artiste, Bright Ellis known in music circles as ‘Shadow’. What started on social media became physical on Sunday at Victoria Park around 3:00pm when the fans of ‘Shadow’ met that of ‘Unruly Crank’ and were attacking themselves verbally over who is the best Cape Coast Dancehall artiste. Information gathered by Kasapa News Yaw Boagyan indicates that the argument turned into a physical fight during which ‘Unruly Crank’ allegedly pulled out a cutlass but was snatched by ‘Shadow’ and stabbed him on his neck, and fled after committing the crime. He has not been found till now. Central Regional Police deputy PRO, Sgt. Evans Entie in an interview confirmed the incident adding that the deceased was rushed to the Cape Coast Metropolitan Hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival. The suspect who also sustained a cut on his left hand, made a report at the station against the deceased and was issued with a Police Medical report form to attend hospital for treatment but was later arrested at Cape Coast Metropolitan Hospital and detained. The body has been deposited at the Bakaano mortuary for autopsy while police have launched investigations into the matter. Armed robbers engage police in gun battle at Haatso Atomic; 1 killed, 2 arrests and more
The police have killed one armed robber and arrested two of his accomplices after they engaged them in a shootout at Domos Company, a block factory located at Haatso in the Greater Accra Region. Police investigators confirm to MyNewsGh.com that the four (4) men besieged the premises of the company under the pretext of engaging in a business transaction with the management and insisted on seeing the chief Executive Officer (CEO). In the process, they pulled out pistols to take some of the worker’s hostage amidst sporadic shooting in the premises. Armed police who had wind of the planned robbery and were already stationed at the premises of the company to provide protection unknown to the criminals, returned fire and one of the armed robbers was hit. He was rushed to police hospital where he was pronounced dead but the two others were arrested and one managed to escape amidst firing. The arrested suspects identified as Christian Anagbra aged 38 and Emmanuel Gavor aged 53 upon interrogation, admitted their involvement in the attempted robbery and mentioned the name of the suspect who is at large as Isaac who is the leader of the group. Police indicate that the same suspects are believed to have attacked pure water Goil filling station at Ashongman and murdered a security man last weekend. One Millennium pistol with five (5) rounds of ammunition was retrieved while the suspects have been kept in separate cells assisting the police in their investigations.
