Parliament has scheduled a headcount vote for the approval of the 2024 budget. The vote is set to take place on Thursday, December 7, 2023.
The decision to conduct a headcount vote was made after a voice vote in favor of the Majority led to a challenge from the Minority Caucus. This resulted in the Majority walking out of Parliament on Wednesday, November 29, 2023.
To resolve the impasse, Speaker Alban Bagbin announced that a headcount vote would be held on December 7, specifically for the approval of the economic policy and budget statement of the government.
