In a surprising turn of events, the High Court in Accra has directed National Security to investigate the source of unauthorized audio recordings of court proceedings from Thursday, June 13, 2024. Apexnewsgh reports

The recordings, which have been circulating on social media, were brought to the court’s attention by Deputy Attorney General, Alfred Atuah-Yeboah.

Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe, a Justice of the Court of Appeal sitting as an additional High Court judge, promptly retired to her chambers and invited the parties involved to join her.

The prosecution team, comprising Deputy Attorneys General Alfred Tuah-Yeboah and Diana Asonaba Dapaah, and Director of Public Prosecutions Yvonne Attakora Obuobisa, was present, along with defense lawyers Dr. Abdul Basit Aziz Bamba and Thaddeus Sory, representing the accused, Richard Jakpa and Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.

After a brief meeting in chambers, Thaddeus Sory requested a meeting with the Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame, who had arrived in court. Upon their return, Justice Asare-Botwe directed National Security to investigate the source of the leaked recordings.

The court warned that if the unauthorized recordings continue, proceedings would be forced to be conducted in-camera.

This development highlights the seriousness with which the court views the unauthorized release of sensitive information and its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the legal process.
