The Ghana Skills Development Fund (GSDF) Monitoring and Evaluation officer Naomi Nunoamesi has encouraged the people of Upper East to participate duly in the ongoing SDF grants which the submission of application is scheduled to end on September 16, 2022. Apexnewsgh.com report
According to Madam Naomi, she came to deepen the understanding of the people of the Upper East Region about the grant process, and grant system and also guide them on how to get into the system and get support from the Ghana Skills Development Fund Project.
She told Apexnewsgh.com that she is hopeful that by the application submission on September 16, 2022, they will get a lot of applications from the Upper East Region.
The Ghana Skills Development Fund (GSDF) focuses on the provision of entrepreneurship and micro and small enterprise support for jobs. The GSDF is the vehicle to operationalize the subcomponent of the Ghana Jobs and Skill Project (GJSP) and is implemented by the Commission for Technical Vocation Education and Training (CTVET).
“The Skills Development Fund is a competitive grant and demand-driven which is supposed to respond to skill needs organizations. For example, you have an enterprise and skill capital is not making you productive or operate at an optimal level, we are available to offer the support you need to get you to operate at that level”
“In all, we are looking at standardizing industry in the country and that is the bigger goal for everything”.
Meanwhile, during the programme, one of the issues raised by participants was about transparency and the fear of politicization of the grant by way of selecting persons belonging to the governing party and avoiding other members perceived otherwise especially when the loan is facilitated by the current.
However, responding to the question, the Monitoring and Evaluation officer Naomi Nunoamesi said there is nothing to fear.
“It is a very transparent program and it has been transparent except that people have their doubts about these systems. The well-meaning people and all the donor partners are there, our clients are there and we ourselves are there. So, let just believe in the integrity of persons are on the Steering Committee and trust that we do a good job. Of course, no one wants his or her reputation to be at stake” she responded
