The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has cleared seven candidates to contest in three of the four constituencies in the Ashanti region where parliamentary primaries were put on hold. The cleared candidates will be able to contest in the Mampong, Adansi Asokwa, and Fomena constituencies.
Nominations were opened on August 1, 2023, and vetting was subsequently conducted for the Adansi Asokwa, Fomena, and Mampong constituencies. Three aspirants are contesting in Adansi Asokwa, two in Fomena, and two in Mampong.
The party has scheduled the primaries for these constituencies to take place on Saturday, September 2, 2023. However, the primary for the Manhyia South constituency is still on hold due to certain reasons. It is expected that the primary for this constituency will take place before the end of the year.
