The National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has addressed concerns within his party regarding the recent victory of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the governing New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Special Delegates’ Conference.
Nketia dismissed claims by some members of the NPP that Bawumia’s win has caused anxiety within the opposition party, stating that this is nothing new as Bawumia has consistently performed well in elections. He stressed that the NDC remains confident of victory in the next elections, regardless of the NPP’s presidential primary outcome.
Nketia downplayed the significance of Bawumia’s victory, which occurred with a reduced number of aspirants, and encouraged NDC supporters to remain patient and observe events as they unfold.
During an interview, Nketia also criticized the NPP, referring to it as the “greatest deception” in the Fourth Republic.
