Tema Metropolitan Electoral Officer, Ofusehene Asante Manasseh, alleges intimidation by top National Democratic Congress (NDC) members. They pressured him to declare Ebi Bright MP-elect, threatening his life and officers’ safety.
In a letter to Electoral Commission Chairperson Jean Mensa, Asante details harassment by NDC officials, including MP Nelson Rockson Defeamekpor and Deputy National Communications Officer Malik Basintale. Despite police protection, threats persisted.
Asante claims declaring Bright winner was unlawful, as two polling stations’ results were pending. Including those, NPP’s Charles Forson would win by 55 votes. Asante seeks annulment, citing illegal declaration.
Ebi Bright initially secured 18,539 votes, while Forson received 18,421. Asante’s statement underscores concerns about electoral transparency and accountability.
