The college, initiated by the NDC government in 2011, was left incomplete after Mahama’s term ended. During his Thank You tour in Anomabu on February 6, Mahama directed the Fisheries Minister, Emelia Arthur, to collaborate with the Finance Minister to secure funding for the project in the upcoming budget, set to be presented in March.

The Anomabu Fisheries College is designed to train 300 students in sustainable fishing and aquaculture practices. The facility includes lecture theatres, a principal’s bungalow, fish ponds, boreholes, and a water pumping station. Mahama emphasized that the remaining work is minimal, requiring only furniture, teaching materials, and campus roadworks to make the college operational.

Mahama stressed that his government is committed to completing all abandoned projects, regardless of which administration initiated them. “We will secure funds for the completion, and once phase one is done, we will move to phase two,” he stated. With the President’s directive, the project is expected to receive priority funding, ensuring its completion in the coming months.
