Emmanuel Bedzrah, Chairman of the committee investigating the chaos that erupted on January 30, 2025, during the vetting of ministerial nominees, has rejected claims by the Minority Caucus that he is biased. Apexnewsgh reports
Bedzrah insisted on his impartiality throughout the proceedings, stating that he has not seen any accusations against him for being biased.
The Minority Caucus had called for Bedzrah’s immediate replacement as Chairman, alleging that he has shown prejudice in his public statements and has a conflict of interest. However, Bedzrah remains adamant that he is not biased and that his committee has been conducting its work impartially.
The investigative committee was established by Speaker Alban Bagbin to examine the events leading to the disruption on January 30, which stemmed from a dispute between the Minority and Majority over the vetting schedule. The chaos resulted in a clash and the destruction of equipment.
Bedzrah’s committee has been tasked with identifying those responsible for the disruptions and proposing appropriate sanctions. The committee members include Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi, Gizella Akushika Tetteh-Agbotui, Abena Osei Asare, Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, Vincent Oppong Asamoah, and Bede Anwataazuma Ziedeng.
As the investigation continues, Bedzrah has emphasized that his committee will wait for the Minority Caucus to testify on Monday. If they fail to appear, the committee will invoke constitutional provisions and standing orders.
