Former Finance Minister Accuses President Mahama of Propaganda in State of the Nation Address

A war of words has erupted between former Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam and President John Dramani Mahama over the state of Ghana’s economy. Apexnewsgh reports

Dr. Amin Adam has accused President Mahama of engaging in propaganda during his 2025 State of the Nation address, delivered on February 27.

According to Dr. Amin Adam, President Mahama’s assertion that the economy is in a dire situation is far from the truth. “The true state of our economy is that economic growth has rebounded strongly,” Dr. Amin Adam said during the Minority’s version of the True State of the Nation Address at a press conference in Accra on Monday, March 3.

Dr. Amin Adam also pointed out that the previous government left gross international reserves of $8.9 billion, which is being used to shore up the cedi. However, President Mahama failed to mention this in his address, leading Dr. Amin Adam to accuse him of propaganda.

President Mahama, on the other hand, painted a bleak picture of Ghana’s economy during his State of the Nation address. He stated that the economy is in crisis, and citizens are experiencing severe hardships. He attributed the current difficulties to rising inflation, high levels of debt, and a struggling private sector.

Despite the differing views, one thing is clear: Ghana’s economy is facing significant challenges. President Mahama has promised to implement bold reforms to restore economic stability and bring relief to households and businesses. Only time will tell if his administration can deliver on these promises.
