Don’t be rude and disrespectful, be humble – Mahama to appointees

President John Dramani Mahama has called on his appointees to embody humility and exhibit respect in their interactions with citizens. Apexnewsgh reports

This directive is part of the newly released Code of Conduct, which was unveiled on Tuesday, May 6, as part of the government’s ongoing reform efforts to foster civility in public service.

During the launch held on May 5, 2025, President Mahama emphasized the importance of courtesy, respect, and dignity in effective governance. He highlighted that good public service is built on these foundational principles, urging all appointees to steer clear of offensive language and provocative behavior in their official capacities.

The Code encourages members of the administration to be open to constructive criticism and to utilize decorous language, even when faced with challenging situations. Furthermore, appointees are reminded to uphold the integrity and reputation of their offices diligently.

Importantly, the term “Minister” as defined in the Code extends beyond Cabinet Ministers to include Deputy Ministers, Presidential Staffers, Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) and their deputies in state and parastatal institutions, members of the Council of State, and other political appointees.

Through this initiative, President Mahama aims to reinforce transparency and accountability within the executive branch, ensuring that those in positions of power act with the utmost regard for the citizens they serve.
