Ken Ofori-Atta’s Legal Team Weighs Next Steps Following Court Ruling on Arrest Warrant

Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta finds himself at a crossroads after the High Court dismissed an application that challenged an arrest warrant issued by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).

The ruling, delivered on Thursday, July 31, deemed Mr. Ofori-Atta’s application as lacking merit, thereby allowing the warrant and associated legal processes to advance.

In the wake of the court’s decision, Frank Davies, the legal counsel for Mr. Ofori-Atta, spoke to Eyewitness News about the team’s future plans. “The High Court has delivered its ruling, and we will explore the next steps available to us. There are avenues open to every lawyer, and we’ll consider them carefully,” he stated, indicating a thoughtful approach to the legal options ahead.

Mr. Ofori-Atta had contended that the OSP had unlawfully obtained the arrest warrant amid an ongoing investigation into alleged corruption and procurement breaches during his time as Finance Minister. However, the court sided with the Special Prosecutor, affirming the validity of the warrant.

This ruling adds another layer to the ongoing standoff between the former minister and the anti-corruption agency. Notably, Mr. Ofori-Atta has not yet appeared before the OSP, as he is currently abroad receiving medical treatment. In June, the OSP had declared him a wanted person and initiated collaboration with Interpol to facilitate his arrest.

As the situation unfolds, all eyes are on the legal team as they navigate the complexities of the case and determine their next steps in this high-profile matter.
