In the quiet community of Dorpotidongo in Bolgatanga of the Upper East Region, lives a young man named Majeed Yakubu.
At just 27 years old, Majeed carries a weight far heavier than most people his age. As the firstborn of four children, he has long been the pillar of his family, the one everyone turns to when things fall apart.
Life, however, has never been kind to Majeed. Born into hardship, he grew up understanding that survival often meant sacrifice. Since completing Senior High School in 2016, Majeed has worked tirelessly to provide for his ailing parents and younger siblings. His father, once the family’s provider, has been bedridden for years, and his mother has also been battling illness.

But nothing could have prepared Majeed for the heartbreaking phone call he received on September 25, 2025. It was from Tamale, his younger sister had been involved in a gas explosion. The fire had ravaged her skin and left her fighting for her life. She was rushed to the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH), but as her condition worsened, doctors referred her to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi for specialized treatment.
Since that day, Majeed’s world has been turned upside down. Each visit to the hospital brings more pain, not only from seeing his sister in agony, but from the mounting medical bills that he can no longer afford.
“I am doing my best,” Majeed says, his voice trembling. “But I can’t keep up anymore. My sister needs help, and I can’t let her die because I’m poor.”
Those words carry the raw pain of a young man torn between love and helplessness. He has sold almost everything he owns, yet the bills keep coming. His parents’ health continues to decline, and the weight of responsibility feels unbearable.
Apexnewsgh is therefore lending its voice to Majeed’s desperate plea. He is not asking for much, only for compassion, kindness, and any support you can give to help save his sister’s life.
