However, Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen of Apexnews Gh contacted Prof. Dittoh for more explanations following the banter response his post was generating especially from supporters of governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) who disagrees with his position.
According to Prof. Dittoh who doubles as a Fountain Gate Reverend in Tamale, he said his message was meant for his colleague’s men of God but unfortunately politicians took advantage of it by politicizing his post of he has nothing to regret about.
However, he believes tasking Ghanaians to contribute Ghc 100.00 for the national cathedral is against the will of God.
Meanwhile, he is of the view that few people in Ghana can build the Cathedral without over bothering the ordinary Ghanaians.
“If I want to do something actually for God, I have to be modest myself to be able to do it. So, this is a very clear example by our own leaders in how we are not modest and we expect our objects to contribute so much especially to the things of God. I think basically, that is the point am trying to make”.
“Sometimes, is very halting because you said you are building a church for God, and the way you are going around it, I don’t see how God can be happy with it. If we are really ready to do something for God, there are many people in Ghana you can just ask for money and they will be able to do it. There are individuals in Ghana that can build that cathedral. So, why asking everybody in Ghana to contribute for the cathedral if is actually for God and God is behind it”
“So, there are so many things we are doing and it doesn’t portray us well outside the world and that one actually discussed with my student. The problem is, when we are doing like that in the country, when you and you go out, they will look at you and say aah, so your president could do that, so you are far worse than your president. Because he is voted as someone who should lead you”.
“Those of us who saw Nkrumah’s Ghana a little, anytime we are out people were impressed because they know what Nkrumah can do and what he cannot do. Because, when we travel outside Ghana people are looking at you and asking how your leaders are behaving”. He concluded
