Accra, the capital city of Ghana, was hit by another devastating flood on Monday morning, May 6, 2024, following a heavy downpour. Apexnewsgh reports
The intense rain caused widespread congestion on roads, leaving thousands of commuters, including corporate workers, traders, students, and motorists, stranded and drenched.
In areas such as Pokuase, Achimota, Odawna, Tesano, Alajo, and Kaneshie, motorists were forced to seek shelter along the roadside as the rain poured down relentlessly.
The streets were filled with stationary vehicles, trapped in a gridlock of traffic, while some individuals had to resort to walking to reach their destinations, dampening their spirits as they braced for the challenges of the second week of May.
Unfortunately, this scenario has become all too familiar for Accra, where even the slightest rainfall leads to inundation. The city’s drainage system has been unable to cope with the heavy rainfall, resulting in frequent flooding and disruption to daily life. The authorities have been urged to find a permanent solution to this recurring problem, which has become a major concern for residents and commuters.
