Despite the unique challenges posed by the 8th Parliament, Bagbin successfully navigated the complexities, earning the President’s admiration.

Akufo-Addo acknowledged the historic nature of their working relationship, noting that this was the first time the Executive had to collaborate with a Parliament having a slim majority and a Speaker from the opposition party. “Mr. Speaker, you and I have made history… and I must acknowledge the role you played in keeping steady the ship of state,” he said.

The President also expressed gratitude for their ability to find common ground, allowing the government to function effectively. Furthermore, Akufo-Addo took the opportunity to congratulate President-elect John Mahama on his re-election, assuring him of his support and wishing him well in his second term.
