Former Member of Parliament for Ashaiman and ex-Majority Leader, Alfred Agbesi, has showered praise on Speaker Alban Bagbin’s outstanding performance in the outgoing 8th Parliament. Apexnewsgh reports
Speaking on Morning Starr with Naa Dedei Tettey, Agbesi described Bagbin’s leadership as “remarkable” and expressed his desire for him to continue as Speaker in the 9th Parliament.
Agbesi acknowledged that some of Bagbin’s rulings had been challenged in court but emphasized that this was a normal part of parliamentary proceedings. He noted that anyone making decisions that affect people must be prepared for scrutiny. “A speaker is like a judge; he takes all issues into consideration and comes out with a decision,” Agbesi said.
Agbesi gave Bagbin a high rating, saying he would score him 90% for his efforts. He expressed his expectations for Bagbin in the 9th Parliament, hoping he will continue to fulfill his duties as Speaker, leveraging his experience and ability to handle serious situations.
Agbesi also reminded Bagbin not to forget his National Democratic Congress (NDC) background as he pursues his duties.
